<div>Visitors will have a chance to receive hundreds of thousands of gift vouchers and discounted gift cards during the 4-day tourism festival in Ho Chi Minh City.</div>
<div>Various activities will be held during the festival, such as the award ceremony honoring 100 outstanding tourist brands, singing contest, art performances, cultural exchanges between localities throughout the country.</div>
<div>On this occasion, the municipal Department of Tourism in colloboration with relavant departments, associations and organizations have launched a tousim promotional program to give special price for students and workers as well as promote the city as a safe, friendly, attractive and exciting tourist destination.</div>

<p><strong>Phu Yen (VNA)</strong> – A range of activities introducing the quintessence of central Phu Yen province are awaiting visitors at a culture and tourism week that opened in Tuy Hoa city on March 30.</p>
<p>Outstanding events of the week include a tourism, culinary and speciality fair; a kite flying festival; a festival of bai choi singing – part of the UNESCO-recognised intangible cultural heritage; a street music festival; and an exclusive festival of Phu Yen’s cuisine.</p>
<p>Notably, the tourism, culinary and speciality fair will feature 100 booths, introducing delicacies of 10 provinces and cities nationwide.</p>
<p>Most of the activities will take place in Tuy Hoa city and Dong Hoa district.</p>
<p>Vice Chairman of the Phu Yen People’s Committee Phan Dinh Phung said the week is a series of activities on the threshold of many big holidays of Vietnam and the province. It also marks the start of the tourist season in Phu Yen.</p>
<p>The week will offer visitors chances to set foot in many famous local landscapes like Xuan Dai Bay, Da Dia Cliffs, Bai Mon (Mon Beach), Mui Dien (Dien Cape), and Nhan Tower.</p>
<p>They can experience the uniqueness of local dishes and drinks. Meanwhile, traditional music lovers can immerse themselves in the rhythm and melodies of the art of bai choi, he added.</p>
<p>The Phu Yen Culture-Tourism Week 2019 will last through April 5.-VNA</p>

<div>Psychologist Tran Ngoc Dung left the job at a joint venture company on market research to come back the central province of Binh Thuan, his hometown, to open a museum of fish sauce- a familiar sauce for Vietnamese people.</div>
<div>Just in two years, psychologist Dung was successful in building a cultural tourist site which reproduces life, produce and cultural characteristics of a fishing village 300 years ago xưa cách đây hơn 300 năm.</div>
<div>Being a valedictorian of University of Economic in Ho Chi Minh City in 1993, psychologist Dung was one of 48 excellent students countrywide receiving scholarships to pursue studying in Australia.</div>
<div>After graduating Business Management major in Australia, the young man continued his pursuit of learning in France where he took PhD in psychology.</div>
<div>After ten year learning abroad, he decided to return Vietnam as he cooperated with a Japanese friend to open a marketing research company.</div>
<div>He said despite his high-paid job at the time in the big city, he was haunted by salty sensation of fish and yellowish color of fish sauce bowl when returning his hometown in Phan Thiet city in Binh Thuan province. Therefore, whenever he was free, he trekked to a 300-year – old fishing village to find old items of making fish sauce in giant fish sauce household producers.</div>
<div>However, time flies and consumers’ taste has changed little by little, these giant fish sauce household producers disappeared and ancient production items have been replaced by other ones made by easy-to-find materials. Living in many countries, he yearned to do something to keep Phan Thiet’s old culture.</div>
<div>After questioning many times that what he should do to keep the old culture of fishing village in Phan Thiet, the idea of setting up a museum where both keeps traditional culture and a place that tourists can visit to understand more about the old profession.</div>
<div>In 2017, he decided to sell all his shares in the company in Ho Chi Minh City and then returned Phan Thiet for his plan of opening a museum despite of friends’ and relatives’ discouragement.</div>
<div>People’s Committee of Binh Thuan Province has given the green light to his plan of setting up a museum of fish sauce and facilitated it.</div>
<div>Dung made contacted with local researchers and ancient collectors in Phan Thiet to have more exhibits . Hundreds of old items and devices including vats, urns, jars, mugs, sticks, tents, giant households in making fish sauce as well as document of the career have been exhibited in the new museum located in a vast land in Phu Hai Commune, which is famous for its traditional fish sauce making profession.</div>
<div>He has used different methods of increasing interaction between the museum and visitors as ways to attract visitors and eliminate tediousness.</div>
<div>Specifically, one day, the author and a group of visitor dropped by the museum. Tourists were gathering in a movie room watching a documentary film about history of a traditional fishing village in Phan Thiet. Some young men murmured that they have known for the very first time that fish sauce is made elaborately.</div>
<div>Museum guide led visitors to next room where exhibits hundreds of production items of fish sauce in the old days. Here, visitors can find out more information of ingredients, recipe and devices of making fish which forefather had used.</div>
<div>Interestingly, visitors can have chance to distinguish pure and mixed fish sauce as per forefathers’ ways. One of visitors, Nguyen Huy Toan, hailing from Ho Chi Minh City was holding some rice leftovers dropping in a bowl of fish sauce. The female guide was explaining that according to old people’s experience, if rice leftovers float in fish sauce bowl, fish sauce is pure kind and vice versa.</div>
<div>Not only establishing the special museum- the first of its kind in the country, psychologist Dung also restore a renowned fish sauce of a time. The renowned fish sauce was made 300 years ago and consumed widely across the country.</div>
<div>Director of Binh Thuan province’s Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism Ngo Minh Chinh lauded Dung who had lived many places in the world but he still loves his hometown and local culture. The museum has restored local traditional culture and contributed to Phan Thiet tourism diversification.</div>
<div>In addition to the museum, he has also re-produced the renowned fish sauce of 300-year-old fishing village which was consumed well.</div>

<div><strong>Hanoi (VNS/VNA) –</strong> The west bank of the Hong (Red) River in Hanoi’s Tay Ho district is famous for its traditional flower villages – Tu Lien, Nhat Tan, Quang An and Phu Thuong.
<p>Trees used to celebrate the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday such as the peach trees grown in Nhat Tan and kumquat trees grown in Tu Lien are said to be the best in town.</p>
<p>For over a decade, flower farms have been open for visitors who want to enjoy the spectacle, take photos or just breathe the fresh air in the otherwise crowded city.</p>
<p> “That is the reason why we opened a strawberry farm at the heart of Nhat Tan flower village,” Nguyen An Phuong, sales manager at Chimi Farm Hanoi, said.</p>
<p>The 3,000 sq.m strawberry farm opened last December and for the last few months, it has attracted young people and families looking for a new farming experience in the city.</p>
<p>The first crop of the temperate fruit grown by Chimi Farm Hanoi is in the process of being harvested.</p>
<p>The farm supplies strawberries for stores and supermarkets in the city, and they’re also available for visitors.</p>
<p>Phuong said that visitors can learn how to nurse the strawberry plants, pick fruit and make strawberry yogurt and other drinks. “They can enjoy the drinks at the cafe on the farm,” Phuong added.</p>
<p>“Taking photos is free of charge. You pay for the fruit you pick and the drinks,” Phuong said.</p>
<p>It’s about 350,000 VND (15 USD) per kilo of strawberries picked at the farm.</p>
<p>The farm also offers young plants for 40,000 VND with instructions on how to tend to them.</p>
<p>Hoang Phuong Thao from Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem district said her children really enjoyed the farm.</p>
<p>“They got excited about looking for ripe red strawberries and picking them,” Thao said, adding that the kids burst into laughter whenever they found an odd-shaped fruit or a worm under the leaves.</p>
<p>“The children and I had a good time at the farm as they got to play outdoors and get closer to nature,” Thao said.</p>
<p>She said they would visit the farm again because it was close to their house.</p>
<p>Phuong said the excitement had sparked an idea about farming tourism.</p>
<p>He said he had travelled a lot with friends and enjoyed great experiences during trips across Vietnam, one of the best of which was picking strawberries at farms in the Central Highland city of Da Lat.</p>
<p>“A friend of mine, Vu Van Luc, has always dreamed about starting a strawberry farm since he was a student at the National Economics University,” Phuong said.</p>
<p>After graduating in 2013, Luc went to Da Lat to learn about strawberry farming.</p>
<p>Luc and two other friends were the first to inspire Phuong to start a strawberry farm.</p>
<p>After learning about the farm tour model as well as farming techniques, Phuong said they decided to bring the fruit to his northern province of Son La as the weather there is similar to Da Lat.</p>
<p>“But it was not easy. Most of the 4,000 sq.m of strawberries that Luc planted in Son La’s Moc Chau Plateau in 2014 died,” Phuong said, forcing them to improve their technique and soil so the plants could adapt better in the northern province.</p>
<p>In 2015, Luc opened Chimi Farm covering one hectare in Ban Ang hamlet, Dong Sang commune, Moc Chau town. The farm was expanded to 6ha last year, offering both fruit and tourism services.</p>
<p>“Chimi Farm Hanoi is a branch of Chimi Farm Moc Chau, which was established to promote Chimi Farm’s strawberries, making the fruit more accessible to consumers in Hanoi and neighbouring provinces,” Phuong said.</p>
<p>Many visitors to Chimi Farm Moc Chau asked if they could find a similar farm in Hanoi and we thought, “Why not?”</p>
<p>“Opening a strawberry farm in Hanoi was a challenge for us,” Phuong said, adding that they had to study the weather, soil and techniques to ensure the plants could adapt.</p>
<p>Winter and spring in Hanoi when the temperature hit 14-28 degrees Celsius are good for strawberries. The plants produce fruit in hot weather. It takes about 2.5 -3 months for the fruit to grow, ripen and be harvested. At Chimi farms, the strawberries are organic without any chemical fertilisers.</p>
<p>Phuong said people preferred Chimi strawberries because they understood organic farming and could pick the fruit themselves, “which seemingly adds taste to the fruit”.</p>
<p>Phuong said that they planned to expand the farm tourism model to Sa Pa and another farm in Hanoi.</p>
<p>“Among the city’s concrete jungle, chaotic traffic, crowded streets and domination of automatic technology devices, the availability of farms and manual farm work bring people joy,” Phuong said.-VNS/VNA</p>

<p><strong>Ottawa (VNA)</strong> – Nem ran (crispy spring rolls), which has been listed among the top 10 best dishes by CNN Travel, has been introduced to foreign friends during the ASEAN Happy Hour programme as part of the Ottawa Travel and Vacation Show in Canada.</p>
<p>Together with the traditional dish, the Vietnamese Embassy in Canada gave visitors an insight of thousand-year-old Hanoi city, the beauty of the UNESCO-recognised World Heritage Sites of Ha Long Bay and Phong Nha-Ke Bang.</p>
<p>This year, the Vietnamese booth became a highlight of the event, drawing a large number of visitors.  </p>
<p>Along with Vietnamese cuisine, the ASEAN Happy Hour, held by the ASEAN Committee in Ottawa, also highlighted unique dishes of Brunei, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Thailand.</p>
<p>The Ottawa Travel and Vacation Show, took place on March 30 and 31, had more than 200 booths organized by more than 50 countries around the world.</p>
<p>2018 was a successful year for Canada’s tourism sector with 21.13 million tourists visiting the country in the year. Tourism created 745,300 jobs in Canada, and contributed about 102.5 billion CAD (76.78 billion USD) to the country’s economy.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Vietnam ranked third in the top 10 countries with the fastest growth in the number of foreign tourists in 2018. However, the number of Canadian tourists to Vietnam has stayed modest at over 138,200 in 2017 and 104,057 in the eight first months of 2018.</p>
<p>According to Jay Johnson, Sales and Marketing Director of Come&Go Vietnam, Vietnam and Canada boast high potential for cooperation in tourism. Canadian people consider Vietnam as a safe destination to visit, he said.</p>
<p>The Vietnam-Canada relationship has been growing, while the 250,000-strong Vietnamese community in the country is an important force helping foster the friendship between the two countries, he noted. Johnson predicted that the number of Canadian tourists to Vietnam will rise in the future.-VNA </p>

<p>The temple is a majestic structure, the pride of Hai Duong residents, where hundreds of scholars were trained to aid Vietnam’s construction and development throughout history.</p>
<p>The Mao Dien Temple of Literature in Cam Dien commune, Cam Giang district, is surrounded by green rice fields in springtime, a tranquil contrast to the busy Highway 5 it sits next to.</p>
<p>An ancient arch leads to a moss-covered central house, a steeple, a pen tower, an ink pot statue, and a lake. The Temple was built in the 15th century as a place to conduct examinations.</p>
<p>In the 16th century, Mao Dien became the examination site for the whole region and a training center for scholars from all over Vietnam. Hai Duong province had the first 12 doctors and 600 of Vietnam’s total 3,000 Confucian laureates of the old system.</p>
<p>It a custom for Hai Duong residents to visit Mao Dien Temple of Literature to pay tribute to the ancient sages.</p>
<p>A local man named Tran Van Tuan said, “This temple, which honors great scholars, attracts pilgrims from Hai Duong and other nearby localities. Hai Duong people are proud of their learning tradition. My family comes to Mao Dien at the beginning of each year to inspire in the children a passion for learning.”</p>
<p>With a scale second only to Hanoi’s Temple of Literature, the 36,000-square-meter complex has an architecture similar to Vietnam’s pagodas and temples. Its two storeys and eight roofs are made of ironwood.</p>

<p>The rear chamber is a place to worship Confucius and national sages, such as the great physician Tue Tinh, the Confucian teacher Chu Van An, scholar Mac Dinh Chi, and Nguyen Thi Due – the first female doctor of Vietnam’s feudal dynasties.</p>
<p>Historian Duong Trung Quoc told VOV how much the Temples of Literature mean to Vietnam. He said, “The Mao Dien Temple of Literature and the Hanoi Temple of Literature were the nation’s education centers during Vietnam’s feudal period. Confucian values have stood the test of time. Educational reforms are needed now in the integration era, but without breaking down traditional values. Hai Duong authorities have made the Mao Dien Temple of Literature a place to honor the Confucianism and modern education and to encourage a love for learning.”</p>

<p>Anh said,<i> </i>“Preserving the Temple of Literature means respecting knowledge, intellectuals, and Vietnamese traditions. Old people like me feel happy that the temple has been recognized. I propose organizing history lessons at the temple to help students remember our history.”       </p>
<p>Mao Dien is one of several temples of literature in Vietnam. It represents the learning tradition not just of Hai Duong residents but of all Vietnamese people.</p>

<p><strong>At the Vietnam International Travel Mart 2019 that ran from March 27-30 in Hanoi, for the first time, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) carried out tourism promotion activities, hoping to attract more Vietnamese holidaymakers.</strong></p>
<p>The booth of DPRK attracted many visitors and travel agents who want to know more about the country and its people. The country is known as the world’s mysterious nation, therefore tour packages to the country are expected to be popular.</p>
<p>Representatives of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s tourism delegation said the country’s tourism has seen progress in recent years with more tourism policies have been introduced in order to lure more tourists from Asian and Middle Eastern countries and the US, among others.</p>
<p>They also said the DPRK <strong> </strong>has considered Vietnam a potential tourism market. It expects to welcome 3,000 Vietnamese touirsts this year, 10 times more than in 2018.-VNA</p>

<p>The VITM 2019 took place from March 27 under the theme “Green Tourism”, aiming to promote the responsibility of travellers in protecting the environment where they visit.</p>
<p>The trade fair also sought to raise the awareness of travel agencies in environmental and biodiversity protection and climate change adaptation, helping to shift the economic structure of regions affected by climate change to tourism.</p>
<p>According to the organisers, the event attracted 65,000 visits after three days.</p>
<p>A survey conducted at the trade fair found that an overwhelming 96.43% of participants were satisfied with the VITM 2019 and nearly three quarters of enterprises pledged to continue taking part in the event next year.</p>
<p>Following the success of the VITM, another international travel mart will be held in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho from November 29 to December 1, expected to attract 200 booths from both domestic and foreign travel agencies.</p>
<p>As part of the Can Tho travel fair, there will be a forum to discuss how to transform Can Tho and the Mekong Delta into one of the major tourism centres of Vietnam.</p>
<p>Last year, Can Tho welcomed more than 40 million visitors, up 17% from 2018, generating revenues of VND24 trillion (US$1 billion), an annual increase of 30%.</p>

<p>The Vietnamese city ranks number 15 on the US newspaper’s list, which praises it as a destination for food lovers and beachgoers.</p>
<p>The New York Times says Da Nang is probably best known for being a gateway to the nearby UNESCO heritage town of Hoi An, but it has begun to develop its own reputation as the Miami of Vietnam in the last few years.</p>
<p>A typical day might start with a morning swim on the sandy, crescent-shaped Non Nuoc Beach and perhaps a quick stop at the Han Market, suggests the paper.</p>

<p>In the World’s Top 100 Airports 2019 ranking results, released on March 28, the capital city’s airport was listed for the fourth year running and certified as three-star by Skytrax.</p>
<p>Noi Bai airport, about 35 km north of Hanoi’s downtown area, first gained a place on the list in 2016 when the second terminal was put into operation.</p>

<p>With the theme of ‘Green Tourism’, VITM 2019 helped raise awareness among concerned stakeholders, especially businesses, about the necessity of environmental and biodiversity protection, adaptability to climate change, as well as making a contribution to improving people’s living conditions in disadvantaged areas.</p>
<p>The 3-day fair attracted the participation of about 3,200 businesses and close to 63,000 visitors who came to purchase some of the tourism products on show.</p>
<p>Some 29,300 visitors at the event registered for domestic and international tours, while the total revenue made from tourism activities is estimated at VND322.3 billion.</p>
<p>According to a survey conducted by the organising board, 96.43 per cent of units were satisfied with the event and at least 74.5 per cent of businesses are committed to participating in the next annual event, VITM 2020.</p>

<p>Visitors can come on a motorbike or bus to Moc Chau, which entices visitors with its magnificent views, beautiful flowers, cool atmosphere, and rich ethnic minority cultures. The plateau is increasingly popular with tourists.</p>
<p>Motorbikes are the best way to traverse the bumpy, rocky roads to the fields and villages around Moc Chau. Spring is a perfect time to visit, when Moc Chau is an explosion of colors: pink peach blossoms, yellow and mustard chrysanthemums, red poinsettias, and white apricot, peach, and plum blossoms, set against a green background of forests and tea farms. There are also lots of orchids.</p>
<p>What else attracts visitors? Here are a few things.</p>
<p>“The weather here is very distinctive from other places. I feel like there are four seasons in a day,” a visitor said.</p>
<p>“Moc Chau is beautiful not just in a specific season but all year long. The plateau shines in spring when apricot, plum, and peach blossoms are in full bloom. Winter is when the wild sunflowers boast their typical yellow over the immense hills. Visitors to Moc Chau can enjoy the most of local traditional ethnic activities,” another added.</p>
<p>“What I love most about Moc Chau is the fresh cool air in the morning that makes me feel close to nature. I also love picking tea buds which are used later to make tea at home. It’s really enjoyable,” said a tourist.</p>

<p>Tea hills in Moc Chau are endless inspiration for photographers and hikers. Moc Chau Plateau has a temperate climate, topography, and soil suitable for growing tea.</p>
<p>Heart-shaped tea hills have become attractive tourist attractions, drawing a lot of visitors, especially young people. Visitors can admire immense green tea plots and rent or buy the colorful traditional costumes of local ethnic groups for photos.</p>
<p>In addition to the immense tea fields and flower gardens, there are other interesting spots to visit in Moc Chau, according to Nguyen Nhat Lam, Director of the Viettrip Travel Company.</p>
<p>“Other tourist attractions in Moc Chau include Doi (Bat) Cave and Dai Yem waterfall. Backpackers are also interested in the Long Sap border gate, which leads them through large maize fields and ethnic villages where locals are still practicing their traditional culture,” Lam said.</p>
<p>Delicious dishes in Moc Chau are made of buffalo or cow. One of the favorite dishes here is “tinh top” which is made of brook fish seasoned with “cham cheo”, a typical spice of ethnic people in northern Vietnam.</p>
<p>Visitors to Moc Chau have many accommodation options, according to Mr. Lam.</p>
<p>“Depending on the size and interests of each travel group, tourists can choose to stay at hotels in downtown Moc Chau or in stilt houses in Ang village, where they can also enjoy BBQ and a campfire. Tourists now favor a homestay where they can live, eat, and talk with locals to learn about their daily life and traditions,” he added. </p>

<p>Ang village in Dong Sang commune pioneered community-based tourism in Son La province. Locals have upgraded traditional stilt houses into communal guest houses, planted flowers and vegetables, and organized tours.</p>
<p>Ha Van Quyet, a provider of a community-based tourism service in Ang village, said, “Most tourists to Moc Chau love the homestay service, the beautiful nature, and the clean farm produce. They want to experience in farming with the locals. So we have built bungalows on the hills near our cultivated land. This is, I think, the most effective marketing method.”</p>
<p>The Thai minority people living in Ang village are still making their traditional handicrafts, including weaving and embroidery, and teach visitors these crafts.</p>
<p>A trip is not complete without tasting the local cuisine: a veal dish in a pan, a bowl of taro soup, and home-grown vegetables. Lo Thi Luong says the most typical dish of the Thai people is grilled moss taken from the brooks.</p>
<p>She said, “We take out all the grit and clean the moss with water. Then we squeeze and dry the moss. We season it with garlic, ginger, onion, and herbs. A handful of moss is wrapped in green leaves and grilled.”  </p>

<p>A traveler commented, “This is the first time I’ve been to Moc Chau with my friends and teachers. I went to the tea farm and the pine hills and enjoyed our meals together in the stilt house. It’s really interesting. I love the cool air and hospitable villagers.”</p>
<p>Another talked about her experience in Moc Chau: “It’s really cool in Moc Chau. The weather here is similar to that of Dalat in the Central Highlands. I like the orchids, Dai Yem waterfall, and the tea farms.”</p>
<p>A tourist shared how he is interested in his stay in Ang village: “I love the atmosphere here. Ang village has become more beautiful and tourism service has improved since the last time I was here. The villagers are so friendly. All gave me a great impression of Moc Chau.”</p>
<p>Let’s continue on to another destination in Moc Chau that visitors pass on their way from the central town to Ang homestay village. It’s Doi (Bat) cave.</p>

<p>Doi cave, also known as Son Moc Huong cave, is 6 kilometers northeast of Moc Chau. The cave entrance can only be reached by climbing 240 steps. Once you’re inside, the impressive 6,000-square-meter limestone cave overwhelms you.</p>
<p>Climbing the mountain while listening to distant birds and gushing streams is a relaxing experience.  </p>

<p>Lu Thi Hong Mai, one of the first Ang villagers to provide tourism services, says the Thai originally called this cave “Sa Lai”, which means “water” in their language. People later gave it the name “Doi” as there are flocks of bats living inside the cave.</p>
<p>“Legend has it that the God of Hell once sent his troops to arrest a very beautiful lady who was bringing rice to her father. The father waited until noon but never saw his daughter so he told her lover something had happened to her. The man fought the God of Hell (also called the Naga) through Doi cave and chased the Naga to Ang village, where he triumphed and took his beautiful lover back,” Mai explained.</p>
<p>The tour guide is recounting another legend about the formation of the cave. A dragon flying to the East Sea was enchanted by the beauty of this land and forgot all about the East Sea.</p>
<p>He landed and made this mountain range his home, turning the area into a magical landscape of mysterious colors: white as crystals in the morning, blue as sapphires at midday, pink as rubies in the afternoon, deep purple in the twilight.</p>
<p>On the day the dragon finally left the mountain range, he dropped seven jades from his mouth and turned them into mountains to thank the land and people of Moc Chau. In one of the jades, Doi Cave is situated.</p>

<p>The interior of the cave is stunning. From the ceiling of the cave hang twinkling seven-colour stalactites, some of them 20 meters long. They look like roots of an ancient banyan-tree. Others look like Buddha, elephant, tiger, lion, eagle, and masses of cloud.</p>
<p>In the middle of the cave is the magnificent palace of a princess. On the cupola of the cave are many small rocky holes which teem with bats. Drops of water drip from the stalactites, creating a melodious sound.</p>
<p>A couple from Hoa Binh province are delighted by the beauty of Doi cave: “There are many sparkling stalactites and the echoing sound of nearby streams. The cave is beautiful. This cave is magnificent and has made a big impression on me.”</p>
<p>The Government recently approved a plan to create a Moc Chau national tourist site until 2030, containing a resort, an ecotourism center, and an entertainment center, spanning 200,000 ha in the two districts of Moc Chau and Van Ho. The site is expected to attract 1.6 million visitors by 2020 and 5 million by 2030.</p>

<p>The homestay provides two-day-one-night tours for tourists to experience life in the countryside.</p>
<p>The Moon Garden Homestay is located about 60 kilometers west of downtown Hanoi, which is about an hour and a half by car or motorcycle. Built in the heart of vast green spaces including rice fields and a large garden of fruit and flowers, the cottage delights tourists with its charm as soon as they arrive, as it did for the family of Olivier Le Doussal, who are on the two-day-one-night tour. </p>
<p>“It feels very good here,” Oliver said, “I’m impressed by the vitality of the natural environment. There is always the accompanying sounds of chickens, birds, or cows in the Vietnamese countryside. It’s not like home. It’s much quieter in the French countryside.”</p>

<p>There are four main houses, which are named after trees that are planted around the homestay, such as mango trees, grapefruit trees, frangipane trees, and guava trees. All the houses have the typical architecture of the Red River Delta countryside of yesteryear with the roof covered with Yin-Yang tiles, and the walls, doors, and columns made of wood.</p>
<p>They are decorated with antique furniture that features traditional sculptures, such as lotuses, peach blossoms, phoenixes, and dragons. Oliver’s children, Noemi and Gabriel, seem to be obsessed with the antique objects at the homestay. </p>
<p><i> </i>“There is a very old phone that has two parts, one where we can listen to people speak, and another where we talk. I’ve never seen a phone like this before”, said Noemi. </p>
<p>“There is a wardrobe with many different kinds of Vietnamese traditional clothes. So all of us put them on and took pictures”, said Gabriel.</p>
<p>Among the highlights of the homestay is a one-of-a-kind restaurant. Nguyen Khanh Tung, the Moon Garden’s manager, said “Actually it’s an old Catholic church. Surprising, isn’t it? It was abandoned long ago so we decided to convert it into a restaurant.” </p>

<p>Visitors can not only dine in the restaurant but also attend a cooking class there. They are taught how to decorate plates with fruits and vegetables and make traditional Vietnamese spring rolls by the locals. A certificate of apprenticeship will be given to them at the end of the course. Oliver’s wife, Celine, has learned the technique of making a perfect spring roll.</p>

<p> “It’s important not to put too many ingredients into the rice paper. A modest quantity will help you roll well. We must squeeze and fold the paper carefully so that the roll looks good,” she said.</p>
<p>Apart from the cooking class, Moon Garden’s two-day-one-night tours also offer customers cycling trips to tourist attractions and some farm activities. Khanh Tung has a lot of suggestions for his visitors. </p>

<p>“All activities are linked with the rice fields and country life. For a two-day and one-night tour, after the cooking class and lunch, tourists get to rest with a hand and arm massage using medicinal leaves for 15-20 minutes. After that, they can join a cycling trip to old villages including Duong Lam, Tam Son, and Van Minh, then stop at some beautiful sites like pagodas, temples and some old wood houses to take a cup of tea and chat with locals about their daily life and farm work,” Tung said.</p>

<p>“They can also walk the rice fields and participate in the farmers’ work. If they want to experience the life of a farmer, the next morning, after a 15-minute gym class and a cup of green tea with honey and ginger, they can take a stroll around Ky Son village.”</p>
<p>After a 12-kilometer ride, the De Doussal family are excited about what they have seen on the trip. </p>
<p>“We visited Mia Pagoda, which was beautiful,” said Celine, “We went for a walk in the village and saw rice paddies, chickens, cows, dogs, and buffaloes.”</p>
<p>Gabriel continued “Yes yes, there are a lot of animals. The people are very nice. There are much fewer scooters and cars here than in downtown Hanoi.”</p>
<p>If tourists stay longer, they can make their way to Thuy An village, which houses a center for disabled children, and Ba Vi National Park, home to various tropical and subtropical species, which are must-see destinations.</p>

<p>Hanoitourist and the Korea International Travel Company (KITC) recently signed a memorandum of understanding at the North Korean booth at the Vietnam International Tourism Mart (VITM) held March 27-30 in Hanoi.</p>
<p>Le Hong Thai, deputy director of Hanoitourist, said both parties are working on promoting tours to the DPRK via charter flights.</p>
<p>Tourists will soon be able to fly from directly to Pyongyang in about 4 hours, instead of taking a 3-hour flight to Beijing and then an hour flight from Beijing to Pyongyang.</p>
<p>“The transfers were inconvenient for our customers. If the charter route proves convenient, the number of passengers will increase.</p>
<p>“We expect we will fly the first charter flight in June. The price of the tour will remain the same – less than VND30 million ($1,300) for a 5-day trip but the flying hours will be shortened,” Thai said.</p>

<p>The North Korean tour is one of Hanoitourist’s three new products introduced at the VITM this year.</p>

<p>After 10 years of development, Ba Na Hills became not only a landmark, but has also contributed to changing the appearance of the tourism industry in the central city of Danang. <h2><em><b>Why did Sun Group begin to invest in Ba Na Hills?</b></em></h2>
<p>When I and other shareholders of Sun Group returned to Vietnam, the leaders of the Danang People’s Committee called us to invest in Ba Na. Honestly, at the time (2007) we did not see the potential of this land. In reality, numerous large-scale investors faced difficulties in maintaining their operations because the tourism season only lasted for three months and there was a painful lack of entertainment facilities. Besides, the terrain was treacherous, making it difficult to build the cable car system.</p>
<p>However, the determination of the city’s leaders and the support from the locals was constant motivation for us to develop the projects. During the construction process, the city provided numerous favourable conditions and incentives for Sun Group. We saw the determination of the city, and were moved to invest in earnest.</p>
<p>Besides, several years later, during a trip to Cyprus we were disappointed that the scenery, which we saw was nothing special, just some sand and gravel, yet we had to pay massive amounts of money for a holiday there. Meanwhile, with its raw natural beauty, Vietnam is far more worthy to be known around the world. We are aware that tourism is not only an economic sector but also a tool to promote the image of the country. Thus, after that tour, we decided to invest in the tourism sector in Vietnam.</p>
<h2><em><b>When did Sun Group begin to be optimistic about Ba Na Hills?</b></em></h2>
<p>The time when we were building the cable car was a challenging period. The terrain was so rough that technology could not deal with all of the problems. The living conditions for workers and foreign experts were poor, but all of them were driven to perform their tasks. Besides, engineers proposed numerous great ideas, which had never been applied anywhere else before, providing us with more energy to continue the work.</p>
<p>Our concerns vanished in 2009, on the day of the opening ceremony of Morin Hotel, several months after the cable car system was opened. Notably, at the opening ceremony, a five-coloured cloud appeared, opening the beauty of the heavens in front of our eyes. We saw happiness in workers’ eyes.</p>
<h2><em><b>How do you evaluate the project after ten years?</b></em></h2>
<p>I am proud that Ba Na Hills became a must-see destination for tourists visiting Danang. Even foreign investors who do not even know Sun Group know of Ba Na Hills. My name was attached to this project, and many of our partners saved me as “Truong Ba Na” on their phones.</p>
<p>Projects like Ba Na Hills, which were invested methodically, contributed to changing Danang’s vista. When we started to invest here, the light system was turned off at 9 PM and there were no coastal roads and what services were available were rather poor. Danang was only considered a transshipment area for tourists who wanted to visit Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam provinces. However, since then, Danang has become the centre of tourism in Southeast Asia.</p>
<p>In my opinion, developing the tourism sector not only brings benefits to locals but also contributes to the development of other sectors.</p>
<p>According to the plan, the total registered capital for Ba Na Hills was VND8 trillion ($347.8 million), however, we are not stopping here. I think that it is just the starting point because the visitor number at Ba Na Hills is still much lower than at other entertainment projects of similar scale on the world. With the current growth momentum of tourism in Vietnam and Danang, Ba Na Hills have great development potential. We will continue to invest in this project.</p>
<h2><em><b>What are Sun Group’s expectations for Ba Na Hills and other projects?</b></em></h2>
<p>We expect to welcome the 15 millionth tourist to Ba Na Hills. During a visit to the project, representatives of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) were surprised with the scale of the project and the quality of the services, which they found was easily on par with other projects in the world.</p>
<p>We set the target of bringing Vietnam to the world and bringing the world to Vietnam, and in the future, we want to turn Sun World projects across the country into destinations that tourists – local or international – simply cannot miss.</p>
<p>Besides, we want to make Sun World a famous brand like Disneyland. We will make Sun World a symbol of quality service.</p>

<p>The four-day festival featured various cultural activities and objects of 41 ethnic minority groups in the locality, with the aim of raising awareness of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the nation.</p>
<p>The festival also reserved a space to display the traditional cuisine of ethnic minority groups such as Khmer, S’tieng, Tay, Nung, Thai and others, which attracted much attention from visitors.</p>
<p>Typical images and artifacts used in the daily life of ethnic minority people were also showcased at the event, including gongs, brocade weaving frames, mortars, rice pestles, jars, pots, traditional costumes, and musical instruments, in addition to the reproduction of folk rituals and traditional ceremonies.</p>
<p>Nearly 1,000 ethnic minority artists and athletes participated in cultural and sporting activities during the four-day festival, such as performances of traditional costumes and dishes and competitions of football, volleyball, tug of war, stilts, crossbow shooting, running, and others.</p>
<p>According to Director of Binh Phuoc provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Toursim, Tran Van Chung, the festival is expected to create a playground for ethnic minority groups to introduce and promote their unique cultural identity, thus contributing to enhancing public awareness of preserving cultural values and boosting national solidarity.</p>

<div>The travel expo will feature more than 350 display booths of hundreds of local and foreign enterprises from 40 countries and territories worldwide, especially markets of North American, Northeast Asia, Europe and ASEAN</div>
<div>Started in 2005, the ITE has become one of the leading travel events in Vietnam and the region with expanded scale and diversified activities, such as exhibition, meeting between Buyer and Seller and others, promotional programs.</div>
<div>The event is an opportunity for travel agents, hotels and representatives from tourism promotion agencies to publicize their brands and offer tourist products to local and international travelers.</div>
<div>It also aims to promote tourism products and services in the Mekong sub-region and Asia. and has been supported by Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia; the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos; the Ministry of Hotels & Tourism of Myanmar; and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand.</div>
<div>The annual event is co-organized by the HCM City People’s Committee, the municipal Department of Tourism, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Vietnam National Trade Fair and Advertising Company (VINEXAD) and Informa Exhibitions.</div>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – Over 4.5 million foreigners are estimated to visit Vietnam in the first three months of this year, a rise of 7 percent year on year, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said on March 29.</p>
<p>The foreign visitors coming by air and by road rose 4.5 percent and 26.2 percent year on year, while those entering by sea declined by 37.4 percent.</p>
<p>The visitors hailing from Asian markets recorded an increase of 7.5 percent year on year, said the VNAT under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.</p>
<p>Up to 1.2 million Chinese people spent holidays in Vietnam in the reviewed time, accounting to 37.8 percent of the total Asian visitors. The figure, however, showed a drop of 5.6 percent from the same time last year.</p>
<p>Thai tourists recorded the highest rise with 49.3 percent, followed by those from Taiwan (China), 26 percent; the Republic of Korea, 24.1 percent; Malaysia 11.1 percent; and Japan, 8.3 percent.</p>
<p>Visitors from Europe and the Americas posted rises of 6.1 percent and 6.3 percent from the same time last year.</p>
<p>During the reviewed period, 24.9 million local tourists were served.</p>
<p>Revenue from tourism activities totaled 175 trillion VND, rising by 8.35 percent from the January-March period in 2018.-VNA</p>

<p>Director of Dien Bien province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Pham Viet Dung said in order to accomplish this target, the tourism sector will continue to devise proper policies to encourage the economic sectors to invest in tourism activities, actively support businesses to diversify tourism products to lengthen tourists’ stay.</p>
<p>The province also plans to establish the provincial tourism association to strengthen connectivity among tourism businesses in association with community tourism development in rural and remote areas, and effectively cooperate with eight expanded north-western localities and major tourism hubs such as Hanoi and HCM City towards boosting cooperation with markets in Laos and Thailand.</p>
<p>Mr Dung also underscored the importance of training highly qualified human resources to meet the tourism demand in the future.</p>

<p>The number of foreign arrivals to the country in March reached over 1.4 million, down 11.2% over last month and up 5% compared to the same period last year, said Mr Chung.</p>
<p>According to the tourism official, there were diverse important events in the country in February, leading to a sharp increase in the number of foreign arrivals.</p>
<p>The number of international visitors to Vietnam in March has also experienced a surge of 5% against last year’s corresponding period, showing positive signs for Vietnam’s tourism industry this year.</p>

<p><strong>Dien Bien (VNA)</strong> – The People’s Committee of the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien has approve a project to upgrade a number of relic sites on the former battlefield of the historic Dien Bien Phu campaign as the 65th anniversary of the victory nears (May 7, 1954-2019).</p>
<p>From late 2018 to early 2019, the local cultural sector also conducted maintenance work on the Muong Thanh bridge, the A1 Hill and the Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument.</p>
<p>The Dien Bien Phu Campaign lasted from March to May 1954 under the command of General Vo Nguyen Giap. Its victory on May 7, 1954 led to the signing of the 1954 Geneva Accords in which France agreed to withdraw its forces from its colonies in Indochina.</p>
<p>The former battlefield has become a major tourist attraction in Dien Bien province.-VNA  </p>

Vietnamese tourism industry to grow amidst Industry 4.0

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – A conference held on March 28 in the framework of the Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) sought solutions to develop tourism in the context of Industry 4.0.</p>
<p>Through the newly launched VNGuide app and the website VnTrip360.com, tourists can enjoy virtual trips to beauty spots in Vietnam such as Quan Su Pagoda, Tran Quoc Pagoda (Hanoi) and the Cu Chi Tunnels (Ho Chi Minh City).</p>
<p>And, more destinations in the country are going to be digitalised to provide different experiences for travellers and help introduce Vietnamese tourism to the world.</p>
<p>Jason Lusk, director of the Mekong Innovative Startups in Tourism (MIST), consultant to the Asian Development Bank, said it was a great step forward for innovation in the Vietnamese tourism industry.</p>
<p>“The Fourth Industrial Revolution brings many opportunities for Vietnam’s travel tech start-ups as well as the chance for Vietnamese tourism to boom,” he said.</p>
<p>Ha Van Sieu, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration (VNAT), said Industry 4.0 impacted all fields, including tourism.</p>
<p>“It’s a time for us to review the process of using technology in the tourism industry,” he said.<br />
Beside digitalising destinations with VR technology, travel enterprises are also using apps to manage hotels, resorts and customer experiences.  </p>
<p>Nguyen Chi Thanh, director of Toan Dung Media Company, the developer of VNGuide app, said it was time to make the term “smart tourism” popular.</p>
<p>“With 3D scanning technology, we can give tourists an overview of the destinations before they arrive, they can zoom in and out of the sites, and discover every corner,” he said.</p>
<p>“We have some difficulties such as the high cost of 3D technology and a lack of human resources to manage this technology.”</p>
<p>Thanh suggested that managers should be trained on VR technology so they can instruct travellers how to use the devices.</p>
<p>On the day, VNAT also launched a contest for start-ups in tourism development.</p>
<p>The initiatives should focus on accommodation, restaurants and transport.</p>
<p>The contest will run until June to seek ideas on how to use technology to develop tourism.</p>
<p>The VITM 2019 is the largest of its kind, attracting 720 businesses and tourism promotion agencies from 27 countries and territories worldwide as well as 47 Vietnamese cities and provinces. In particular, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Peru joined the event for the first time.</p>
<p>The event is expected to draw up to 85,000 visitors. Notably, exhibitors will sell over 100,000 low-cost air fares and about 18,000 affordable package tours.</p>
<p>Forums themed “Green tourism”, “Vietnam’s outbound tourism: Opportunities and challenges”, and a seminar on Vietnam’s tourism amid the fourth industrial revolution are also scheduled to take place at the VITM 2019.</p>
<p>Vietnam is striving to welcome at least 18 million foreign tourists and serve over 85 million domestic holidaymakers, earning more than 700 trillion VND (30 billion USD) in revenue this year.-VNA</p>

<div><strong>Da Nang (VNA) –</strong> Xuan Thieu tourism investment JSC and Mikazuki Group of Japan began construction to expand the Xuan Thieu tourism site in Lien Chieu district, the central city of Da Nang on March 28. </div>
<div>The 100-million-USD project covers an area of 12.23 ha along the Nguyen Tat Thanh coastal road. 
<p>As a Japan-style resort area in Da Nang, the site will consist of a hot spring and water park area, the first dome entertainment area in Da Nang, and sea view restaurant, and hotels. </p>
<p>Yoshimune Odaka, General Director of Mikazuki Group, said his firm selected Da Nang to invest in due to its beautiful beaches, adding that the company wants to create a Japanese-style resort tourism site in the coastal central city. </p>
<p>Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh said the locality aims to attract more investment in 2019, noting that the project is hoped to contribute to promoting socio-economic development in the city and enhancing cultural connections between Da Nang, and Vietnam in general, with Japan. </p>
<p>As scheduled, the first phase of the project will be completed and put into operation in June 2020. The project will fully become operational in April 2021. –VNA   </p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – This year, the Mekong Delta region will focus on enhancing tourism promotion and connectivity in the north, central and Central Highlands regions, as well as foreign markets in Southeast and East Asia.</p>
<p>Tran Viet Cuong, Chairman of the Mekong Delta Tourism Association, made the statement at a tourism promotion conference for the region held in Hanoi on March 27.</p>
<p>As part of the Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2019, which began the same day, the conference aimed to introduce the region’ natural resources, tourism products and activities.</p>
<p>It also called for partnerships in human resources training and investment in tourism development.</p>
<p>Spanning 40,548 km2, the Mekong Delta comprises of Can Tho city and the provinces of An Giang, Bac Lieu, Ben Tre, Ca Mau, Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Kien Giang, Long An, Soc Trang, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh and Vinh Long.</p>
<p>The region is renowned for eco, spiritual, cultural-historical, community-based agricultural and sea-island tourism, with highlights including tours to Cai Rang floating market, Temple of Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam, and Ca Mau Cape, don ca tai tu music and Ngo boat racing. The 13 localities are working to develop meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) tourism.</p>
<p>The number of local hotel facilities amount to 53,000, while the tourism workforce consists of 77,000 labourers.-VNA</p>

<p>The fiesta aims to promote prestigious Cuban travel services and facilities, and making Cuba a tourist destination for Vietnamese people.</p>
<p>According to Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Lianys Torres Rivera, Cuba welcomed 1 million international tourists since the beginning of this year, and targets to receive 5 million in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 7 percent.</p>

<p>The island country has great tourism potentials with 10 world heritages recognized by UNESCO, 10 international airports, and four international ports.</p>
<p>In Cuba, visitors are able to tour famous beautiful destinations such as seaside Malécon, Old Havana, El Morro Castle, José Martí Memorial, Museum of Rum, and cigar factories, as well as to enjoy local traditional dances.</p>
<p>On this occasion, Hanoitourism introduced its service “Cuba – Russia: A two-span bridge journey.” During 12 days and 11 nights of the trip, visitors have an opportunity to visit Cuba as well as have experiences in Russia.</p>

<div><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, head of the state steering committee for tourism, and other officials cut the ribbon to open the Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2019, in Hanoi on March 27. 
<p>Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien said Vietnam is striving to welcome at least 18 million foreign tourists and serve over 85 million domestic holidaymakers, earning more than 700 trillion VND (30 billion USD) in revenue this year. </p>
<p>Apart from green, home-stay and resort tourism services, Thien suggested the tourism sector fully tap modern technology and local advantages to meet tourists’ demands, thus turning Vietnam into an attractive destination in the region. </p>
<p>Themed “Green Tourism”, the VITM 2019 afforded domestic and foreign travel agencies a chance to discuss future business opportunities as well as introduce new destinations and products to the public. </p>
<p>Vu The Binh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association (VTA) and head of the VITM 2019 organising board, said 2019 is the seventh year the VTA has held the VITM under the direction of the Prime Minister and a project approved by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. </p>
<p>The VITM 2019 is the largest of its kind, attracting 720 businesses and tourism promotion agencies from 27 countries and territories worldwide as well as 47 Vietnamese cities and provinces. In particular, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Peru joined the event for the first time. </p>
<p>The event is expected to draw up to 85,000 visitors. Notably, exhibitors will sell over 100,000 low-cost air fares and about 18,000 affordable package tours. </p>
<p>Forums themed “Green tourism”, “Vietnam’s outbound tourism: Opportunities and challenges”, and a seminar on Vietnam’s tourism amid the fourth industrial revolution are also scheduled to take place at the VITM 2019.-VNA</p>

<p>The opening ceremony for the event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.</p>
<p>VITM Hanoi 2019 features 500 pavilions by 710 travel businesses from 27 countries and territories worldwide. The Republic of Peru and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) participated in the event for the first time.</p>

<p>With the theme of ‘Green Tourism’, the mart aims to respond to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development set by the United Nations.</p>
<p>Accordingly, tourism enterprises will have the opportunity to introduce their green tourism products, such as ecotourism, community tourism and agricultural products, as well as initiatives in environmental protection and climate change adaptation in tourism.</p>
<p>Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien noted that the 2019 VITM highlighted the development trend of tourism in the future.</p>
<p>It has become an open forum with numerous activities, offering a good chance for domestic and international travel businesses to exchange business opportunities in the near future, he added.</p>

<p>A wide variety of attractive activities will also be held during the four-day travel mart, including a forum themed ‘Green Tourism’, a ceremony to honour outstanding individuals and enterprises in the tourism field in 2018, a seminar on ‘Vietnamese tourism with the industrial revolution 4.0’ and art performances by many delegations from Vietnam and other nations.</p>
<p>This year’s VITM is expected to attract over 85,000 visitors.</p>

<p>According to the Henley Passport Index 2019, three Asian countries, share the first-place position in the global ranking. They are Japan, Singapore, and the Republic of Korea.</p>
<p>With a total of 189 points, the passports of the three Asian nations offer their citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to a record 189 destinations.</p>
<p>Uzbekistan and Germany came in second place with a total of 188 destinations accessible without a prior visa.</p>
<p>In joint-third place were Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, and Sweden whose passports give access to 187 countries while the UK was at fifth place with access to 185 countries. The United States ranked in sixth place with their passport giving access to 184 countries.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the passports of Afghanistan and Iraq remained bottom of the global ranking with visa free access to just 30 countries.</p>

<p>According to Christian H. Kälin, Chairman of Henley & Partners, the statistics, which have been collected over the past 14 years, give evidence that a number of countries have loosened their visa policies for international visitors.</p>
<p>For example, China currently ranks 67th, a rise of 12 places in comparison to 2009. Chinese nationals can now travel to 74 countries without applying for a visa.</p>

<p>“The charming Vietnamese capital has aged well, preserving the Old Quarter, monuments and colonial architecture, while making room for modern developments alongside,” described TripAdvisor.</p>
<p>The website said that lakes, parks, shady boulevards and more than 600 temples and pagodas add to the appeal of this city, which is easily explored by taxi.</p>
<p>London of the UK took the first place in TripAdvisor’s best-rated travel destinations, with France’s Paris coming in second, followed by Rome of Italy, Crete of Greece and Bali of Indonesia.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, 2019 was the first year New York, which has been a long-time favourite with travelers, slipped out of TripAdvisor’s top 10 to rank as the 13th best-rated destination in the world.</p>
<p>Desiree Fish, TripAdvisor’s Vice President of Global Communications, said the Travelers’ Choice Awards “recognise major cities and islands that continue to deliver an outstanding experience and are beloved by our global community of travelers.”</p>
<p>The number of visitors to Hanoi in the first three months of this year is estimated at more than 7.47 million, a rise of 10.6 percent year-on-year. Of the figure, there are nearly 5.6 million domestic visitors and 1.88 million foreign tourists, up 9 and 15.5 percent over the previous year, respectively.</p>
<p>The capital city welcomed 5.74 million foreign visitors in 2018, up 16 percent against 2017, among 26 million tourists spending time in the city.-VNA</p>

<div><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – Russia’s international commentator Grigory Trofimchuk has lauded Vietnam as one of the brightest stars at the 26th International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (MITT-2019) that wrapped up in mid-March in Moscow.
<p>Trofimchuk shared his impression about Vietnam’s stall at one of the world’s five largest tourism fairs, saying that he took his photos on a large panel popularising Vietnam’s attractive destinations.</p>
<p>He expressed his delight at enjoying jasmine and lotus tea at the Vietnamese booth, especially taking a photo with a Vietnamese girl wearing a traditional conical hat.</p>

<div>Although the number of tourists of the two countries has recently increased but it has been not worthy of the two sides ‘potentials, said Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, K. Srikar Reddy.</div>
<div>Vietnamese and Indian policies have focused on e-visa issuance for foreigners and the launch of direct routes between HCMC and Delhi operated by low-cost carrier Vietjet, he added.</div>

<div><strong>Hanoi (VNA) –</strong> National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and budget airline Jetstar Pacific will launch various promotional programmes at the Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2019, which will take place from March 27-30.
<p>Vietnam Airlines on March 25 said it will present 4,000 promotional codes for visitors who purchase online tickets at the event. </p>
<p>The carrier is set to offer discounts of up to 50 percent for domestic and 30 percent for international flights to Australia, Asian and European nations.</p>
<p>Other promotions will be introduced at the event such as weekend sales, among others.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Jetstar Pacific will launch 11,000 cheap tickets for domestic and international flights. The prices will start at 11,000 VND (about 0.5 USD), excluding taxes and fees.</p>
<p>The two airlines will also work with travel agencies to introduce tour packages with special prices as well as their products and services for visitors of the VITM.</p>
<p>During the event, Jetstar Pacific will launch a programme to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which encourages passengers to donate a sum ranging from 8,000 to 30,000 VND per ticket. The proceeds will be allocated to projects minimising the impacts of GHG emissions, protecting endangered animal habitats and supporting schools in developing countries.</p>

<p>In addition, chances and challenges of tourism businesses amid the Fourth Industrial Revolution will be a key topic at the event.</p>
<p>It will include more than 500 booths showcasing tourism products and destinations, bringing together travel companies from 25 countries and territories.</p>
<p>The VITM is estimated to attract 85,000 visitors this year. Last year, it received 80,000.</p>

<p>The event, scheduled to take place between March 27 and 30, is expected to draw the participation of more than 700 businesses, management agencies, and tour operators from across 47 provinces and cities nationwide and from an additional 25 nations and territories from around the world.</p>
<p>Under the theme of green tourism, travel companies will be responding to the 2030 sustainable development strategy set out by the United Nations, as well as offering a series of promotional programs at the event.</p>
<p>Accordingly, travel businesses will advertise new eco-tourism and agricultural products at the event. Several of the pavilions themselves will be designed out of environmental-friendly materials.</p>
