According to the website, the charming Vietnamese capital has aged well, preserving the Old Quarter, monuments and colonial architecture, while making room for modern developments alongside.
Lakes, parks, shady boulevards and more than 600 temples and pagodas add to the appeal of this city, which is easily explored by taxi, it reported.
TripAdvisor also suggested must-see places for visitors to the city, including Hanoi’s Old Quarter, the Vietnamese Women’s Museum and the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
London (United Kingdom) topped the TripAdvisor list, followed by Paris (France), Rome (Italy), and Crete (Greece). Other popular destinations in Southeast Asia included Bali (Indonesia), Phuket (Thailand) and Siem Reap (Cambodia).
According to the Hanoi municipal Department of Tourism, the city welcomed more than 7.47 million visitors in the first three months of this year, a rise of 10.6% year-on-year.
Of the figure, there were nearly 5.6 million domestic tourists and 1.88 million foreigners, up 9% and 15.5% over the previous year, respectively.
