<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA) –</strong> The Vietnam Tourism Hanoi JSC debuted its double-decker bus tour on November 30, offering free-of-charge services for passengers until December 2.</p>
<p>The buses, named Vietnam Sightseeing, will operate from 9am to 5:30pm daily at 30-minute intervals. Along the 14.8km route starting from Dien Hong Park on Ngo Quyen street, there will be 10 stops at which tourists are able to hop-on or hop-off. Its passing destinations consist of the Vietnam Military History Museum, Thang Long imperial citadel, Quan Thanh Temple, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo Prison, St. Joseph’s Cathedral, the Vietnamese Women’s Museum, and the Hanoi Opera House.</p>
<p>This is the second route of its kind opened in the capital, with 40 percent of its destinations differing from that of the first route provided by the Hanoi Transport & Services Corporation. Tickets cost 219,000 VND (9.39 USD) for 4 hours, 329,000 VND (14.11 USD) for 24 hours, and 479,000 VND (20.54 USD) for 48 hours. By comparison, the respective prices of the first service are 300,000 VND (12.86 USD), 450,000 VND (19.3 USD), and 650,000 VND (27.88 USD).</p>
<p>On May 30, the first double-decker city tour opened, with hop-on and hop-off services at 13 stops, running through 25 streets and taking tourists to 30 destinations around the city.</p>
<p>The buses run every 30 minutes from 9am to 5pm, and are equipped with an automatic multi-lingual system in Vietnamese, English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.</p>
<p>According to the municipal Department of Tourism, the capital city welcomed nearly 20 million visitors in the first nine months of 2018, an annual increase of 9.2 percent. Of the total, foreign visitors are estimated at 4.3 million, up 20 percent year-on-year, and accounting for nearly 40 percent of the total number of foreign tourists to Vietnam.</p>
<p>This year, Hanoi aims to welcome more than 25.4 million tourists, including 5.5 million foreigners. -VNA</p>

<p>The program aims to popularize the city’s history and development to domestic and international tourists on the occasion of the 320th founding anniversary of Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City (1698 – 2018).</p>
<p>Particularly, the city’s tourism sector will operate eight tourist tours inside its center and between the city’s center and the districts of Can Gio and Cu Chi. Each tour lasts from half a day to two days.</p>
<p>Next year, the sector will launch various activities such as new promotion programs, the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festive Day 2019, and the International Travel Expo – Ho Chi Minh City 2019 (ITE HCMC).</p>

<p><strong>Binh Dinh (VNA)</strong> – The People’s Committee of the south central Binh Dinh province and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) on November 30 agreed to start using Terminal 2 of Phu Cat airport to handle international flights.</p>
<p>The terminal will be repaired and have necessary equipment installed, ready to serve international passengers.</p>
<p>CAAV Director Dinh Viet Thang said that the authority will soon submit a document asking for the launching of international flights to and from Phu Cat airport after finishing a survey on airline demand.</p>
<p>Thang asked relevant agencies to adjust plans to handle international flights and open new international routes at the airport, while asking the Binh Dinh People’s Committee and relevant ministries and sectors to expand Phu Cat airport in line with the Prime Minister’s decision.</p>
<p>So far, Vietnam Airlines, Bamboo Airways, and Vietjet Air have taken steps to research the market and its demand for international flights to and from Quy Nhon city.</p>
<p>As scheduled, Bamboo Airways, invested by real estate developer FLC Group, will be the first to launch international flights to and from Phu Cat airport.</p>
<p>According to Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Phi Long, the number of foreign tourists to Binh Dinh has risen over 15 percent each year. The coastal province welcomes more than 200,000 foreign tourists annually.</p>
<p>In 2017, the province received 3.7 million tourists, up 15.6 percent over 2016, and 3.4 million holidaymakers in the first nine months of this year.</p>
<p>Binh Dinh has exerted great efforts to complete the transport infrastructure connecting Quy Nhon city and Phu Cat airport to better serve tourists, he added. –VNA </p>

<div>The country saw an increase of 8 percent in international visitors in November against the previous month and up 11 percent compared to the same period last year.</div>
<div>Foreign visitors to Vietnam arriving via air was up 15.3 percent, while the number of tourists coming by land was 64.4 percent. The number of travelers coming by sea witnessed a 11.3 per cent decrease due to the impact of storms Toraji and Usagi.</div>
<div>On November 29, the HCM City Department of Tourism and the municipal Tourism Association along with travel enterprises announced the tourism promotion program from December to the end in 2019.</div>
<div>Accordingly, visitors have chance to enjoy discounts of 10-50 per cent on City tours; tours to Can Gio Forest and Cu Chi Tunnels; Sai Gon river tour; hop on- hop off bus tour; Sai Gon food tour; and tours to the Mekong Delta.</div>

<p>The new route operates one flight per day. Hanoi is the third city in Vietnam the RoK’s budget-carrier T’way Air has opened air routes to. This follows after a flight to HCM City in December 2015 was announced (with one flight per day to Seoul) and also a flight to Da Nang in July 2016 (with four flights per day to Seoul, Pusan and Daegu).</p>
<p>RoK now ranks second in the list of foreign tourists to Vietnam. In the first ten 10 months of the year, Vietnam welcomed more than 2.8 million Korean visitors, up a significant 148.3% against the same period last year.</p>
<p>The low-cost airline expressed hope that the new service will serve as a bridge to bring more Korean visitors to Vietnam whilst also allowing Vietnamese people to travel to major cities in the RoK easily.</p>
<p>T’way Air also has ambitious plans to open new direct air routes from the RoK to NhaTrang and PhuQuoc in 2019.</p>
<p>Between December 21 and 23, the airline will continue to launch direct air routes from Hanoi to Seoul and Busan. This is the first RoK’s airline to launch three new air routes from three cities in the RoK to Hanoi.</p>
<p>There are now seven Korean airlines operating in Vietnam including Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air, Air Busan, Jin Air, Eastar Jet, and T’way Air.</p>

<p>During the year, 13 activities will be jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, ministries and agencies, 50 others by Khanh Hoa province and 35 ones by 14 cities and provinces, it was announced during a press conference in Hanoi on November 30. </p>
<p>Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Son Hai said the event will popularise the potential of sea and island tourism in Nha Trang Bay, affording coastal cities and provinces a chance to introduce their economic, cultural and tourism strengths. </p>
<p>This year, Khanh Hoa is expected to welcome over 6.3 million tourists, up 15 percent annually, including about 3 million foreigners. The tourism revenue is estimated at over 20.5 trillion VND (891.3 million USD). </p>
<p>Among hundreds of activities during the year, the sea tourism festival 2019, the third conference on central coastal region development, a triathlon competition, and Miss Universe Vietnam 2019 are highlights. </p>
<p>Next year, Khanh Hoa set the goal of welcoming more than 7 million visitors, including over 3 million foreigners. </p>

For the tourism industry to develop in an increasingly professional manner, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province Department of Tourism has signed a cooperation agreement with the VNPT group to promote its image and tourism sector to domestic and international visitors through telecommunications and information technology services.</p>

<p>According to this agreement, the two sides will coordinate to build: a Smart Tourism Portal, a Smart Resort model and smart tourism destinations</p>
<p>They will also develop technology solutions, telecommunications services, centralized database systems, information gathering, information and telecommunication services, SMS based location services and free public Wi-Fi for tourists at famous destinations in the province.</p>
<p>The two sides will also work to improve the effectiveness of propaganda, advertising, promotion of electronic tourism (E-Marketing), tourism software applications, digital maps, and smart advertising for tourists traveling to BR-VT.</p>
<p>The application of information technology (IT) in the tourism industry is an indispensable requirement in the process of integration and development. IT will help increase utility for visitors and managers as well as enhance the competitiveness of businesses. The contribution of IT industry to the tourism sector will become increasingly significant and decisive, leading BR-VT tourism to a position in the future, as it implements its plan to develop high-quality tourism in the 2017-2020 period, with orientation to 2030.</p>

The number of tourists to Ba Ria-Vung Tau has on average increased by 12.9% a year, and total tourism revenue has increased by an average of 15.9% a year.</p>

<p><span>The news was announced during the programme to stimulate tourism in 2018 and 2019 held by the Department of Tourism on November 29.</span></p>
<p><span>The discount tours will introduce tourists to historical locations in the city centre, tours to Can Gio District for its landscapes and tours to Cu Chi District to learn more about history.</span></p>
<p><span>The tours will be held daily by firms who registered to join the promotional programme. The firms are providing offers for December for tourists in HCM City. Restaurants, transportation firms, and firms in dental tourism are also participating.</span></p>
<p><span>According to Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, deputy head of the Department of Tourism, HCM City welcomed 6.1 million visitors in the first 10 months, an increase of 20% compared to the same period last year. Most of the revenues come from international tourists. May to August is often the off-season so the authorities have worked with many firms to start the stimulus programme from now to the end of 2019 to attract international as well as local tourists.</span></p>
<p><span>The Saigon-Cho Lon tour will cost VND399,000 (USD16) and go from Central Post Office to the Notre Dame Cathedral, HCM City Museum, Thien Hau Pagoda, Binh Tay Market, Silver House and Baoz Dim Sum restaurant.</span></p>
<p><span>The most expensive tour cost VND2,199,000 (USD88) and last two days. Tourists will go from the city’s centre to the coastal forest of Can Gio, stay the night at the resort and continue the trip to Rung Sat Special Zone and Can Gio Monkey Island.</span></p>

<p>Celebrity Millennium is a luxurious and modern five-star international luxury cruise ship catering to Asia and South Pacific voyages. According to the plan, Celebrity Millennium will leave the port at 1:00 pm on November 28.</p>
<p>The welcoming of the first international cruise ship marks a milestone, opening a new turning-point for the tourism industry in Quang Ninh, creating a new space for international cooperation and tourism development.</p>
<p>According to Chairman of Quang Ninh People’s Committee,Nguyen Duc Long, the launch of the Ha Long International Cruise Port is an important mark of the Quang Ninh tourism industry, creating the most favorable conditions for passenger ships to travel to Ha Long Bay. It is also a highlight for visitors when visiting HaLong Bay.</p>
<p>Construction began in November 20, 2017, and, after more than one year of construction, Ha Long International Cruise Port is essentially complete. The VND 1,100 billion-project is a special international cruise port in Vietnam. The port is designed to accommodate ships of up to 225,000 DWT, with a total capacity of 8,460 people (including passengers and crew), serving two ships at the same time.</p>
<p>It is expected that, by the end of 2018, there will be ten international passenger ships to arrive at Ha Long International Cruise Port.</p>

<p>The Celebrity Millennium, a five-star cruise from the US’ Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, first departed from Hong Kong and is scheduled to leave the Hon Gai International Passenger Terminal on November 28.</p>
<p>The Hon Gai International Passenger Terminal is one of Quang Ninh’s key infrastructure projects, aiming to attract more investment in local socio-economic development.</p>
<p>It is also expected to help lure in high-end international tourists to Ha Long city and spur local tourism.</p>

<p>Nguyen Duc Long, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said the terminal is set to create the best possible facilities for cruises travelling to UNESCO-recognized site Ha Long Bay and will ensure full safety for passengers.</p>
<p>The official expressed his hope to receive more international cruises and tourists to Ha Long in particular and Quang Ninh in general.</p>
<p>The Celebrity Millennium’s Captain Nikolas Christodoulakis said this is the second visit to Ha Long Bay by cruise ship following his first trip in 2014, adding that Ha Long has changed a lot over the past four years.</p>
<p>Construction on the port began in November 2017 with a total cost of VND 1.1 trillion (USD 47.3 million) under the private-public partnership between Sun Group and Quang Ninh province.</p>
<p>It was designed to have a 524m quay that is able to receive two cruise ships at the same time, each with capacity of up to 225,000 GT and total number of passengers and crew members amounting to 8,460.</p>
<p>The port provides a five-star three-storey terminal covering 7,600sq.m and a harbor serving 250 tourist boats carrying visitors to the world heritage site Ha Long Bay.</p>
<p>It is expected to welcome 10 international cruises by the end of the year, contributing to raising the number of tourists to the province to over 12 million for 2018.</p>

<p>Brent crude on November 26 gained nearly 2 percent to trade at near USD 60 a barrel, having lost nearly 30.5 percent from its one-year high of USD 86.29 a barrel made on October 3.</p>
<p>US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was up 1.5 percent to USD 51.17 a barrel on November 26. It has shed 33 percent from its year-high of USD 76.41 a barrel early last month.</p>
<p>Oil prices had previously gained significantly in the one and a half months to October on worries the US sanctions on Iran would cause a shortage on the global market.</p>
<p>In fact, oil production has not declined at all. According to Reuters, the US, Russia and Saudi Arabia in October produced total 33 million barrels per day – a record high – accounting for a third of global output.</p>

<p>Fuel accounts for 30-40 percent of total costs for aviation firms, thus, a sharp drop in oil prices would lead to lower fuel expenses and boost airlines’ profit margins.</p>
<p>In the third quarter of 2018, when oil prices were on the rise, Vietnamese aviation companies posted lower quarterly profits despite their revenues improving from a year earlier.</p>
<p>National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (UPCoM: HVN) recorded its margin profit fell to 12.2 percent from 18.8 percent.</p>
<p>Its post-tax profit dropped 68 percent year-on-year to VND 458 billion (USD 20.3 million) in the last quarter. After nine months, Vietnam Airlines’ post-tax profit lost 13 percent year-on-year to VND 1.71 trillion.</p>
<p>According to Vietnam Airlines, the company in the past quarter suffered from higher fuel expenses (37.5 percent higher) and rising exchange rate (a 2 percent increase), while the performance of some member companies was also affected by the increase of oil prices.</p>
<p>In a report, the Viet Capital Securities Corporation (VCSC) said the decline of oil prices would benefit the earnings of budget carrier Vietjet (HoSE: VJC).</p>
<p>In the first nine months of the year, core business revenue rose by half but post-tax profit added only 15.5 percent year-on-year because of higher fuel expenses.</p>
<p>In addition to lower oil prices, which are expected to boost aviation firms’ earnings in the fourth quarter, Vietjet’s use of new-generation airplanes would help the company save 16 percent of fuel consumption.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the increase of air passengers is expected to help those firms achieve higher earnings from their core businesses.</p>
<p>Vietnam leads Asia in terms of air passenger growth for the last five years with its annual growth rate estimated at 28.9 percent, twice that of the following country.</p>
<p>According to Phu Hung Securities JSC (PHS), services and additional product sales would temporarily help aviation firms offset their costs caused by purchasing oil at their high prices in October.</p>
<p>PHS forecasts that Vietnam Airlines would keep its passenger growth rate at 12 percent, level with the growth of the whole sector, and increase sales of additional products and services to support business performance.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Vietjet’s earnings are expected to grow after the company launched new routes to Japan, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan to meet the travel demand of Vietnamese people.</p>
<p>According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the number of air travelers in the first half of 2018 rose 14 percent year on year to over 50 million and is expected to beat last full-year’s figure of more than 90 million.</p>

<p>Tourism fees at Ha Long Bay and the Yen Tu relic site are also expected to be cut in order to raise the number of passengers traveling through Van Don International Airport, according to Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Long.</p>

<p>National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and budget carrier Vietjet Air have proposed launching flights to Van Don International Airport, which is scheduled to open in late December. </p>
<p>Vietnam Airlines commits to accompanying the project’s investor – SunGroup and Quang Ninh province to launch flights to the airport on the opening day, the carrier’s General Director Duong Tri Thanh said, adding that the airline will offer a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Van Don each day.</p>
<p>Vietjet Air General Director Luu Duc Khanh said apart from traditional routes, the carrier always wants to expand the market.</p>
<p>The two carriers have also called on Quang Ninh to reduce airport charges and create favorable conditions for them to set up their representative offices in the locality.</p>
<p>Construction on Van Don International Airport, the first of its kind in Vietnam invested by a private investor – SunGroup, started in 2015 with total investment of VND 7.5 trillion (USD 330 million).</p>
<p>Covering 288ha, the airport accommodates support facilities, a two-module terminal and functional areas. A cargo terminal is expected to be built by 2030 with a capacity of at least 51,000 tons.</p>
<p>Under a March decision by the Ministry of Transport, Van Don will be an international airport, serving both civilian and military flights with a 3.6km-long runway. The airport will have an annual capacity of 2-2.5 million passengers by 2020, which will increase to 5 million by 2030.</p>
<p>As Van Don district is among the three special economic zones planned in the country, the airport is expected to boost the local economy, including tourism at Ha Long Bay.</p>
<p>The airport is located roughly 50km Northeast of UNESCO-recognized Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh province.</p>

<p>(VEN) - Authorities are planning to tighten control on budget and so-called “zero-dong tours” to Vietnam, arguing that these generate fraud, tax evasion and sales of products without clear origin.</p>

<p>Cheap tour packages aimed at budget Chinese tourists generally waive transportation and accommodation fees, and then pressure visitors into purchasing products or services at inflated prices while they are in Vietnam.</p>
<p>Nguyen Van Tuan, head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), says more and more visitors come to Vietnam on such tours, which can adversely affect the image of popular destinations across the country as well as visitors’ interests in the long run.</p>
<p>Addressing a recent regular press briefing of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Tuan voiced concerns over the drawbacks of zero-dong tours, such as selling fake goods, overcharging and fraud.</p>
<p>The budget and zero-dong tours keep going because independent retail stores commit fraud. Some are secretly backed by foreigners working in cooperation with local partners, including tour operators and tour guides, according to the head of VNAT.</p>
<p>Tourists on zero-dong tours also make payments through online transactions using point of sales machines, scanning QR codes or using smartphone payment apps, bypassing the Vietnamese banking system and thus violating the laws on management of and payment by foreign currency. The tours also help service providers and retail stores evade taxes.</p>
<p>Nguyen Quy Phuong, Director of VNAT’s Travel Department said budget tours should offer tourists competitive service prices and ensure the interests of operators, airlines and service facilities.</p>
<p>To prevent and address fraudulent low-cost or zero-dong tours, Phuong suggested local authorities and tourism management agencies take drastic and consistent measures. The department discussed with ministries, sectors and localities how to deal with infractions, and many localities not only fined but also withdrew licenses of travel agents, Phuong said.</p>
<p>To protect the interests of visitors and the image of destinations, and ensure budget revenues, VNAT proposed a series of measures. These include improving the sense of responsibility of local governments, increasing control of fraudulent stores, goods quality and payment transactions, preventing tax evasion and illegal money transfer, and fining and even withdrawing licenses of tour operators and tour guides who infract the law.</p>
<p>There has been a surge in Chinese tourism to Vietnam in recent years, with numbers in some areas surpassing those of American and European visitors. In 2017, four million of the 12.9 million visitors to Vietnam hailed from its northern neighbor.</p>

<p><span>Dong Thap Muoi is an inland wetland in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. Most of the wetlands are within Long An Province and Dong Thap Province.</span></p>
<p><strong>Transportation</strong></p>
<p>Since Dong Thap is about 170 km from Ho Chi Minh City, you can go there by motorbike or car, which is the most convenient option for explorers. Buses are also available and cost VND90,000 – VND200,000 (US$3.84 – $8.54) from Mien Tay bus station (Ho Chi Minh city) to Cao Lanh or Sa Dec, and the trip takes 3 – 4 hours.</p>
<p>Transportation is quite convenient in Dong Thap with a wide variety of options such as taxi, motorbike taxi (<em>xe om</em>), boat, and ferry. You can also rent a motorbike in Cao Lanh and Sa Dec city for VND100,000 – 200,000/day ($4.27 – $8.54).</p>
<p><strong>Housing</strong></p>
<p>Motel and hotel prices in Dong Thap are quite low, ranging from VND50,000 to VND70,000 per night (US$2.13 – US$2.99). If you are a nature lover, you can try sleeping in wooden huts above lotus fields in Thap Muoi, a rural district of Dong Thap</p>
<p>If you want to discover the local culture, you can also try homestays in Sa Dec. But motels and hotels in Cao Lanh are the most convenient option.</p>
<p><strong>Signature food</strong></p>
<p>You should definitely try signature local dishes such as grilled mullet fish wrapped in lotus leaf, steamed rice wrapped in lotus leaf, Sa Dec rice noodles, Lai Vung fermented pork roll and mandarine, Vietnamese dragon blood rice, and lotus milk.</p>
<p>In addition, Tien Giang River and Hau Giang River offer signature dishes made from linh fish, sesbania sesban flowers, stock garden, stir-fried mouse, Cao Lanh grilled mouse in a terracotta jar, Sa Giang shrimp chips, pink lotus wine…</p>
<p>Restaurants can be easily found in local markets and night markets. Food prices are quite affordable. It is advisable to find eateries in densely populated areas.</p>

<p>Bamboo Airways will launch its first domestic flight on December 29, starting a journey to conquer the aviation market as the firm received its license to fly in Vietnam.</p>

<p>The first Bamboo Airways flight will connect Hanoi with Quy Nhon coastal resort, where FLC Group has one of its 30 hotels and 20 golf courses over the country.</p>
<p>According to Trinh Van Quyet, chairman of FLC Group, the first routes of Bamboo may be Hanoi-Quy Nhon, Ho Chi Minh City-Quy Nhon, and Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City. Along with the aims to connect customers with FLC’s resorts, the firm also hopes to contribute to reduce overload for carriers during the New Year and the Lunar New Year.</p>
<p>“As well as main the cities, we will fly to domestic destinations that existing airlines have not reached yet,” Quyet said in an interview with <em>Reuters</em>. “Our first international flights will connect Vietnam with South Korea and Japan early in the second quarter, and the US is the next goal.”</p>
<p>According to <em>Reuters</em>, Bamboo’s launch comes as Vietnam clocks double-digit expansion in both outbound and inbound passenger numbers at a time of rising incomes in one of Asia’s quickest-growing economies. Meanwhile, the government aims to make tourism a growth driver through visa exemptions and promoting investment in related infrastructure.</p>
<p>Bamboo Airways is currently the fifth airline in Vietnam to have passenger transport licenses, along with Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific, and VASCO.</p>
<p>Bamboo initially scheduled its first flight for October, but delayed as it only received the business license on November 12. However, the firm is still awaiting its Aircraft Operator’s Certificate (AOC) and procedures related to the license of the terminal and ticket sales, without which it will remain grounded. It may take Bamboo 30-45 days to complete the final procedures before take-off.</p>
<p>Bamboo Airways was established by FLC Group last year, with the charter capital of VND700 billion ($30.43 million). In July 2018, FLC announced adding another VND600 billion ($26.09 million) to increase its charter capital to VND1.3 trillion ($56.52 million). With this project, FLC aims to make Bamboo Airways one of the leading airlines in Vietnam.</p>
<p>Bamboo signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus SE (AIR.PA) in March to buy up to 24 A320neo narrow-body jets worth $3.2 billion, and a provisional deal in July for 20 Boeing Co (BA.N) 787-9 wide-body aircrafts worth $5.6 billion. However, for the first flights, Bamboo Airways will hire aircrafts, which are expected to get to Vietnam on December 15. Bamboo hopes to begin ticket sales at the end of November.</p>
<p>One of its notable partners from whom Bamboo Airways will hire aircrafts is GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), a subsidiary of General Electric Group, the world’s leader in aircraft leasing and financing.</p>
<p>In September, the senior management of FLC and General Electrics agreed on a number of important partnerships, including Bamboo Airways to lease about 10 new aircrafts from GECAS.</p>
<p>According to GECAS, the first aircraft in the deal is a brand-new Airbus A321neo (code MSN 8195). After flight tests by Airbus and delivery to GECAS in Hamburg, Germany, the aircraft will be handed over to Bamboo Airways by the end of this year.</p>
<p>FLC Group’s airline is said to pursue a hybrid model, a segment between traditional and low-cost airlines that can accommodate all needs of different passengers categories.</p>
<p>In particular, Bamboo Airways will utilise FLC Group’s golf resort system to exploit the combination of air and travel services, with special prices that will be often super cheap.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Nguyen Ngoc Thao and her friends from Hai Duong province said they had planned for the trip several months ago. She said she was impressed with the romantic space, pure atmosphere and charming rosy blades of pink grass.</p>
<p>According to Cil Poh, Vice Chairman of Lac Duong district People’s Committee, the festival’s organising board, the festival aimed to promote the district’s tourism potential and cultural identities of ethnic groups in Lang Biang plateau to visitors at home and abroad.</p>

<p>Construction of the VND1 trillion port began in November 2017, aiming to ease the overload for Tuan Chau Passenger Terminal and improve Ha Long’s tourist service quality.</p>

<div>The country saw an increase of 250,000 foreign tourists in 1990 to 12.9 million people in 2017. In 2000, the total revenue from the tourism sector was VND 17,400 billion (US$745 million) and VND 510,000 billion (US$21 billion) in 2017, up to 30 times after 17 years.</div>
<div>The remarkable growth came as a result of advertising programs for promoting tourism in the country. The Ministry also affirmed the Politburo Resolution No.08, issued in January 2017, on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector by 2020, developing tourism in a sustainable manner, conserving and promoting cultural heritages and fine values of the nation, protecting the environment and nature, and maintaining defense, security and social order and safety.</div>
<div>The Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism has asked relevant agencies, departments, and local authorities to strengthen the inspection of operation of travel companies, and increase fines for illegal travel agencies.</div>

<p>Four months before Britain leaves the EU, the legal divorce treaty and an accompanying political declaration on the two sides’ future ties are ready to be rubber-stamped by British Prime Minister Theresa May and the leaders of the 27 union states staying on together after Brexit.</p>
<p>Spain has asked for changes to the withdrawal treaty and the declaration on a new EU-UK relationship to make clear any decisions about the disputed British overseas territory of Gibraltar would only be taken in direct talks with Madrid.</p>
<p>Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on November 22 that Spain will veto the draft deal on Britain’s exit from the European Union, if there are no changes made.</p>
<p>“After my conversation with Theresa May, our positions remain far away. My government will always defend the interests of Spain. If there are no changes, we will veto Brexit”, Sanchez said in a tweet.</p>
<p>Under EU rules, the withdrawal treaty is adopted by qualified majority and not unanimity, so a single state cannot block it. EU leaders, however, seek unity on this most politically sensitive matter.</p>
<p>The Brexit package faces vehement opposition in the British parliament, which must vote in favour for it to take effect. Otherwise Britain risks crashing out of the bloc on March 29, 2019, without an agreement to mitigate economic disruptions.</p>
<p>Determined not to allow any redrafting of either of the two texts and risk derailing the fragile process, EU states have instead proposed to address Spain’s concerns in a separate statement by the 27 leaders on Sunday that would not be part of negotiations with Britain.</p>
<p>The national leaders’ EU negotiators – or ‘sherpas’ – meet at 0900 GMT on November 23 in Brussels and May will then come for talks with the head of the bloc’s executive, Jean-Claude Juncker, on November 24 evening, just hours before the summit.</p>
<p>EU diplomats hope a text could be agreed by November 23 evening but they also fear Sanchez would want to make a case of discussing it at the top level on Novvember 25 to show determination and win points with voters at home ahead of a December regional election.</p>
<p>The Brexit deal covers financial settlement, expatriates’ rights and the sensitive Irish border, as well as setting a blueprint for future trade and security ties. It must also be backed by the European Parliament to come into force next year.</p>

<div><strong>Hanoi (VNA) –</strong> Vietnam has won the “Asia’s best golf destination 2018” at the World Golf Awards, announced the Vietnam National Tourism Administration (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on November 22.
<p>The country has earned the title for two consecutive years now.</p>
<p>In addition, The Grand-Ho Tram Strip in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau received the “Asia’s best golf hotel” award, while Ba Na Hill Golf Club in central Da Nang city was honoured with the title of “Asia’s best golf course”.</p>
<p>According to the VNAT, the tourism sector needs to devise a long-term strategic development plan and popularise golf tourism, which in turn will bolster tourism growth and investment in Vietnam. </p>
<p>As the country boasts a number of challenging golf courses with spectacular scenery, golf tourism holds huge potential in Vietnam’s tourism development.</p>
<p>World Golf Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world-class courses, and outstanding golf destinations.</p>
<p>The global voting process lasted seven months this year. Votes are made by professionals working within the golf travel and tourism industry, including senior executives, tour operators, agents, media professionals, and golf tourism consumers.</p>
<p>Earlier, the ministry selected Australian professional golfer Greg Norman as the next ambassador for Vietnamese tourism for the 2018-2021 tenure.</p>
<p>Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien presented the appointment decision to Norman at a ceremony held in Hanoi on October 31. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception in Hanoi for Norman the same day.–VNA</p>

<p><strong>What are the achievements of the National Tourism Year 2018-Ha Long-Quang Ninh?</strong></p>
<p>The National Tourism Year 2018 – Ha Long-Quang Ninh includes 56 programs and events in Quang Ninh Province and 42 in 14 other provinces and cities nationwide.</p>
<p>Major events in Quang Ninh during the first six months of the year include the opening ceremony for the National Tourism Year, the Ha Long Carnival, the Gold Flower Tea Festival in Binh Lieu District, the Tien Cong Festival in Quang Yen Town, and the Yen Tu Festival in Uong Bi City. Other events include the Cua Ong Temple Festival in Cam Pha City, Yen Tu Cherry and Yellow Apricot Festival in Uong Bi City, One-Commune-One-Product (OCOP) Trade Fair in Ha Long City, and Tuan Chau International Female Beach Volleyball Tournament in Ha Long.</p>
<p>The events helped attract 10.7 million visitors to the province in the first 10 months of the year, a 25 percent increase from a year ago, including more than four million foreign visitors. Tourism revenues exceeded VND19 trillion, a 28 percent increase. The 2018 figures are expected to increase to more than 12 million visitors (a 25 percent increase) and over five million foreign visitors (a 22 percent increase) against last year.</p>
<p><strong>Quang Ninh is likened to a mini Vietnam with great potential and special cultural value. What do you think is required to develop its cultural and natural heritage during the National Tourism Year 2018?</strong></p>
<p>Quang Ninh plans to implement three strategies related to renewing its growth model, restructuring the economy, developing in a sustainable manner, and to shift from brown to green development.</p>
<p>The province intends to grow by restructuring its economy, progressively reducing reliance on non-sustainable factors and step-by-step increasing sustainable factors based on its geographical and political position, the knowledge-based economy, science and technology, consumption, investment, export, landscape, culture, history and human intellect.</p>
<p>One of Quang Ninh’s key measures to develop tourism is to preserve Ha Long Bay, which is a world heritage site, Bai Tu Long Bay, relic sites in Yen Tu, Tran Dynasty remains, the Bach Dang historical site, plus more than 600 other natural and relic sites in the province, which have been recognized by the Vietnamese government.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the province will make the most of tourism engines in areas such as Dong Trieu, Uong Bi, Ha Long, Van Don, Co To and Mong Cai; improve material facilities at tourism sites; invest in tourism human resources in order to build the capacity of local communities in tourism development; and help local people run and benefit from tourism business.</p>

<div>Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in the central province of Quang Binh is one of the most spectacular wilderness sites in South East Asia and one of the 2 largest limestone regions in the world. It was recognized as a World Heritage site for the second time for its ecological system and biodiversity at the 39th session of the World Heritage Committee in Bonn, Germany in 2015. The first time was in 2003 for its geological and geomorphologic values. It is home of more than magnificent 300 caves and ranks among the most popular tourist destinations in Vietnam, including the world’s largest cave, Son Doong; the world’s 3rd largest cave, En cave; and the longest dry cave in Asia, Thien Duong (Paradise) Cave</div>
<div>The provincial authorities expect to receive about 3.9 million visitors, including 180,000 international tourists this year, up 12.1 percent compared to the same period last year. The tourism industry will earn VND4,255 billion in revenue, up 12 percent compared to the same time last year.</div>
<div>International experts believe Quang Binh to become the top tourist attraction in Vietnam and the South-East Asian region with 8 million travelers by 2030, including 3 million foreign tourists.</div>
<div>HCM City is considered as Quang Binh province’s key market that has huge potentials for growth.</div>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNS/VNA)</strong> – Resort tourism in Hanoi’s suburbs and neighbouring areas has seen potential for higher growth, experts said.</p>
<p>Estimates from the General Statistics Office showed that with the travel time of around one and a half hours to suburbs, middle-income people in Hanoi are likely to take 20 to 30 short-breaks each year.</p>
<p>However, the number of resorts which are given adequate investment in Hanoi suburban areas and neighbouring provinces such as Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Hoa Binh and Ninh Binh has been limited. Others include Flamingo Dai Lai, Melia Ba Vi, Mai Chau Ecolodge, Serena Resort Kim Boi and Emeralda Ninh Binh.</p>
<p>Speaking at the talk on tourism development in Hanoi’s hinterland: situation and prospects, held on November 21, Nguyen Manh Than, Chairman of the Hanoi Tourism Association, said authorities, community and businesses should cooperate to develop sustainable tourism models in the capital’s suburban areas.</p>
<p>“We acknowledge that in some localities, authorities have not supported firms developing the tourism as well as not having specific actions and policies to improve local people’s awareness on the development of this kind of tourism,” Than said.</p>
<p>He added that among 10 criteria to evaluate provincial competitiveness index (PCI) released by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, support from local authorities has been a key issue to help enterprises improve their competitiveness.</p>
<p>Especially, the issue of progress and opportunities is extremely important for firms. It was the reason that State agencies should help businesses quickly resolve administrative procedures and remove barriers which could limit their development.</p>
<p>From a view of investors, Nguyen Thanh Trung, deputy general director of Archi Investment Joint Stock Company, said the market would see strong and sustainable development.</p>
<p>Trung said there is around 4.5 million people in the Hanoi capital region who want to go on breaks around six times each year.</p>
<p>Therefore, it would have up to 25 to 30 million tourist arrivals a year.</p>
<p>“This is a huge market and no competition. Resort developers should do their jobs well and visitors would come,” he said.</p>
<p>He added that the resort tourism market in the suburbs would share the overload in the capital.</p>
<p>“In the future, Hanoi would welcome nearly 30 million tourist arrivals while it has 1,200 hotel rooms in the past five years,” he said.</p>
<p>Another advantage, he said, was the easy access to suburban areas thanks to new roads shortening distance from the city’s centre to those areas.</p>
<p>Amorn Harnkham, regional director of Thailand International College of Hospitality Education said Hanoi has advantages of connections with other regions.</p>
<p>Hanoi would become one of best destinations for resort tourism in suburbs in Asia, he said.</p>
<p>Ngoc Khanh, general director of H&K Hospitality said investors should understand markets and cooperate with hotel and resort management companies to have real knowledge in the industry. In addition, authorities should have specific policies and regulations in terms of taxes, safety and environmental hygiene to facilitate investors.</p>
<p>“In reality, investors said administrative procedures have been troublesome to businesses. Investors have to work with different departments and offices to resolve an issue. We expected that local authorities would give more supports to firms in developing projects under the model,” Khanh said.-VNS/VNA</p>

<p>The launch is part of a range of activities held to mark the 19th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of Hoi An’s ancient town as a world cultural heritage site and Vietnam’s Heritage Day (November 23).</p>
<p>Pham Phu Ngoc, a vice-director of the Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation, said the launch of the audio guide system at sites across Hoi An will allow visitors to benefit.</p>
<p>Visitors ranging from researchers, local and foreign visitors will be able to gain better insights into the history and culture of Hoi An, as well as discovering the land and people through objects and stories related to the exhibited objects.</p>
<p>The audio guide system will be available in six languages including Vietnamese, English, French, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.</p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA) –</strong> The first Vietnam Travel & Tourism Summit will take place at the Intercontinental Landmark72 hotel in Hanoi on December 5-6 in the framework of the Vietnam Economic Forum (ViEF) 2018. </p>
<p>Held by the board for private economic development research (IV Board under the Government’s Advisory Council for Administrative Procedure Reform), the online newspaper VnExpress and the Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board (TAB), the event is expected to draw 1,500 guests, who are managers, business operators and scholars. To enhance international cooperation and popularise local tourism, the organising board has invited leaders of renowned tourism and service groups like Australia’s Flight Centre, Virgin, Japan’s H.I.S and Singaporean Banyan Tree.</p>
<p>The forum offers opportunities for domestic and foreign businesses to learn about Vietnam’s strategies to develop tourism, as well as the potential of and challenges facing the non-smoke industry.</p>
<p>Various issues will be on the table, including restructuring and developing Vietnamese tourism in a high-quality and sustainable manner, popularising national tourism, improving visa policies to attract high-quality tourists, enhancing tourism management capacity, luring foreign investment in tourism and applying high technology into tourism development and management.</p>
<p>The ViEF is a national economic forum to discuss key issues and strategy regarding Vietnam’s macroeconomy. The forum also maintains constructive dialogues on public and private policies between the private sector, the Government and stakeholders. This year,  the ViEF covers agriculture, the capital-finance market, tourism, training and developing human resources, logistics and commerce.-VNA</p>

<p><em><strong>Awakening potential, promoting advantages</strong></em></p>
<p>Binh Dinh possesses many pristine islands, such as Hon Kho, Eo Gio and Cu Lao Xanh, diverse cultural and historical resources with 13 valuable Cham towers, famous art forms such as bai choi singing (a form of folk singing popular in central Vietnam) and tuong (classical dramas), as well as the Tay Son festival, Binh Dinh martial arts, traditional Cau Ngu (fish worshipping) Festivals, and traditional craft villages, with many delicious specialties and friendly people. These are the advantages for tourism development that the province has exploited and promoted effectively.</p>
<p>Vo Ngoc Trien is a young man of 20 years old. Unlike most of his friends, after he graduated from high school, he participated in the tourist sector. The family has restaurants, tramcars and canoes, so he studied and was granted a driver’s license. Recently, he has been participating in a tour guide class in Da Nang. Many families in Nhon Ly are also directing their children to follow the model.</p>
<p>Along with the creation of tourism products imbued with the local cultural identities, Binh Dinh province is also interested in training and fostering knowledge for local people, who are participating in community tourism. The Binh Dinh Department of Tourism has organised a series of communication programmes to equip indigenous people with basic knowledge about: cultural behavior, legal knowledge, professional skills and customer service skills. In order to raise awareness and improve tourist services skills for families and residential communities at six places with potential for community-based tourism development, including: Ghenh Rang ward, Nhon Ly commune, Nhon Hai commune (Quy Nhon city), Tam Quan Nam commune (Hoai Nhon district), My Tho commune (Phu My district), Nhon Hau commune (An Nhon town). Deputy Director of Binh Dinh Department of Tourism, Le Thi Vinh Huong, said that building a consciousness for people in undertaking responsible tourism, respecting historical values, indigenous cultures and people, is always the correct solution to develop community-based tourism.</p>
<p>In 2017, the province welcomed about 3.7 million visitors, total tourism revenue was nearly VND 2,134 billion, up 42.5% over 2016. In the first nine months of 2018, Binh Dinh welcomed 3.46 million tourists, up 11% over the same period in 2017.</p>
<p><em><strong>Aiming for sustainable development</strong></em></p>
<p>In addition to the advantages of nature, sea and islands, Binh Dinh also has cultural – historical heritage, many relics related to the Tay Son dynasty, in addition to the intangible cultural heritage such as bai choi singing (a form of folk singing popular in central Vietnam), tuong (classical drama) and Binh Dinh martial arts. The question is how to promote these values through tourism.</p>
<p>Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Ho Quoc Dung, said that with the available potential, the province is planning to develop a number of specific tourism products. The most outstanding product is still sea and island tourism. Binh Dinh has reconstructed the Quy Nhon coast, Phuong Mai bay and more than 134 km of the coast of the province to develop tourism, with the novel and unique tourism products. Secondly, for historical – cultural tourism, Binh Dinh has more than 200 historical relics with many unique cultural features. The province is planning to restore Quang Trung Museum, Cham tower system, and the traditional rooms for the practice of martial arts to develop historical tourism. In the future, the province will combine the spiritual relics such as Thien Mai or Ong Nui Pagoda to create completed historical – cultural – spiritual tours. Thirdly, the province will develop a type of science conference tourism in association with the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) of Professor Tran Thanh Van. At present, Binh Dinh welcomes over 1,000 scientists each year. This is an opportunity to promote Binh Dinh tourism. From the success of the centre, the province is building a complex of scientific space, with items such as science museums, a cosmic house and tourist areas. The Chairman expressed his hope that the complex would become an attractive destination in the near future.</p>
<p>Aiming to realise the tourist product groups, Binh Dinh is focusing on upgrading its infrastructure, especially those connected to tourist sites and transport infrastructure. The province is also focusing on re-organising the existing tourist sites in order to match the potential and strengths of each tourist site, meanwhile, the province has combined the investment in specific products, to bring different feelings to visitors when they arrive in Quy Nhon and Binh Dinh.</p>
<p>In fact, over the past time, with many sources of capital, Binh Dinh has invested thousands of billions of VND to upgrade the inter-provincial and inter-district roads connecting the airport and the station to the tourism destinations. The leading corporations in tourism and resorts sectors such as Anphanam, Marriott, or TMS have also invested in large projects in Binh Dinh province. The number of tourists travelling to Binh Dinh has increased and the number of flights to Phu Cat airport increased up to 49 flights per week. The new T1 terminal, which is three times larger than the old terminal, has been in operation from May 2018. In 2018, many transport infrastructure projects have continued to be implemented. All of these are contributing advantages to Binh Dinh’s realisation of the construction of tourism products that attract tourists, making a difference in the chain of links with province in the South Central and Central Highlands regions.</p>
