Vietjet has announced it will launch a new route linking Hanoi and Taiwan’s capital Taipei on February 1 with three return flights per week.

The flight will depart from Hanoi at 3:10 p.m. and from Taipei at 7:50 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, Vietjet said in a statement.

The trip will take two hours and 40 minutes.

The airline already flies to Taipei from Ho Chi Minh City with a daily service.

Vietnam welcomed more than 438,700 Taiwanese visitors last year, up 112 percent from 2014, official figures showed. Meanwhile, the number of Vietnamese visitors to Taiwan reached to 146,380, or a 6.7-percent year-on-year increase.
