NDO – A Vietnamese artisan delegation is attending the eighth international fair for textile art (Artexil) in Caracas, Venezuela from November 1-9 at the invitation of the Venezuelan Ministry of Culture.
The fair has attracted mass attention of experts and local residents since its opening.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Venezuelan Minister of Culture Reinaldo Iturriza applauded the Vietnamese delegation’s presence, especially with the Vietnamese Embasssy in Caracas marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties.
The event provides an opportunity for Venezuelan people to understand more about the land and people of Vietnam, contributing to tightening the two countries’ friendship, particularly in culture, Iturriza said.
According to Vietnamese ambassador to Venezuela Ngo Tien Dung, the delegation’s participation in the fair is part of the cultural exchange programme between the two countries, to bring Vietnamese culture closer to Venezuelan people.
Along with displaying products at a booth, the delegation will have field trips and join exchanges relating to the textile industry with local and international partners.
Venezuelan experts spoke highly of Vietnam’s experience in handicrafts and textile and appreciated shared experiences from Vietnamese artisans.
They also paid attention to Vietnam’s experiences in preserving and promoting traditional values of handicraft villages, which can be considered models to Venezuela.
