Funded by the Australian government, the 14 boards are the outcome of cooperation between Australian professor William Logan and local experts in doing research on the citadel. Those boards, designed and produced in Australia, can endure harsh weather conditions for more than 20 years.
The Thang Long Imperial Citadel information board project is intended to support tourism development in Vietnam through improving access to information about the citadel and strengthening the capacity of local tourism staff.
The boards in both English and Vietnamese present the most important parts of the World Heritage-listed site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
Thang Long Imperial Citadel, which is over 1,000 years old, carries historical values and plays a role in tourism development as it is an attractive destination in Vietnam, said Borrowman, adding Australian-Vietnamese cooperation in the project reflects fine relations between the two nations.
Dang Thi Bich Lien, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the project has contributed significantly to promoting the value of the site to local and foreign visitors.
