Quang Binh urged to turn tourism potentials into development opportunities

NDO – Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the authorities of Quang Binh province to exploit and turn all potentials into opportunities to develop and promote tourism industry.

The Deputy PM made the request at a conference on stimulating investment and promotion of the province’s tourism that was held in Dong Hoi city on August 14.

The event was also attended by representatives of ministries, branches, organisations and some provinces from Laos and Thailand, along with nearly 300 economic experts, leaders of numerous corporations and enterprises around the country.

At the conference, the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai introduced potentials and strengths of the province as well as the advantages and difficulties for both domestic and foreign investors when investing its tourism industry.

The province has called for investment in 35 key projects on development of tourism and service sector during the 2015-2016 period.

He also affirmed that the province has committed to co-operate closely with investor for the effective and sustainable development.

Addressing the conference, Deputy PM Phuc aksed the province to provide a specific roadmap to quickly implement the projects, significantly contributing to the locality’s socio-economic development.

He also requested the central ministries and branches issue appropriate policies to support Quang Binh on capital sources, development of key areas, sustainable poverty reduction and training of a high-quality workforce.

At the conference, the provincial People’s Committee granted investment certificates to nine projects with a total investment of nearly VND900 billion (US$40.7 million) and signed memoranda of understanding on investment co-operation for 10 projects worth total over VND9.9 trillion (US$448 million).

Additionally, the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) signed signed an agreement to arrange funding for four projects to Quang Binh, with a total investment of VND10.9 trillion (US$493.2 million).
