NDO – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has asked the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to focus its operation in 2015 on speeding up job creation and vocational training, preventing and controlling drug trafficking and prostitution, and caring for national contributors.

The requirements were set by the Government official at an online conference held in Hanoi on January 22 to establish tasks for 2015.

The ministry should exert every effort to reach its target of generating jobs for 1.6 million people and reducing the poverty rate by 1.7 – 2% in 2015, he requested.

He also urged the ministry to pay due attention to the implementation of policies concerning workers, salary, occupational hygiene and safety, and labour market.

Regarding the prevention and control of social evils, he advised that it will require a joint effort from the whole community, urging the sector to closely work with relevant agencies in realising their work.

It will also be necessary to co-ordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and local authorities to better care for people who had rendered service to the country and hasten poverty reduction, he added.

In 2014, the sector created jobs for around 1.6 million people, an increase of 3.6% from 2013, according to the ministry’s report.

It also recorded positive results in ensuring social welfares, expanding the vocational training system, improving labour safety and hygiene, protecting and caring for children, implementing gender equality and combating social problems.
