Lightning kills, injures Dien Bien Phu soldiers

DIEN BIEN (VNS) — One soldier died and four others were injured by lightning during thunderstorms that struck Dien Bien Phu City yesterday afternoon.

All the soldiers belonged to the city’s Brigade 82. They were patrolling Ta Po Village when struck by lightning flashes.

Sung A Giang, 20, who was in front of the others, died and the others were rushed to the military unit’s medical station. Two of them were discharged soon after.

This is the third lightning strike in the province this year. So far two have died and several others injured. — VNS
