Thai man caught with 5kg of cocaine

HCM CITY (VNS) — A Thai national has been arrested at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport with more than five kilos that he was attempting to smuggle into Viet Nam, police said yesterday.

The drugs, hidden in a double-bottomed suitcase, have an estimated value of over VND32 billion (US$1.5 million), they said.

This is the first drug trafficking case cracked by the customs department at the airport since the launch of a month-long anti-narcotics campaign on June 1.— VNS
