Nhan Dan Online – A forum enabling Vietnamese youth to share initiatives and solutions on sustainable development is being held at Bach Ma National Garden in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue from June 28 to July 2.
The five-day event, themed “Be Active Citizens“, has attracted 40 young people aged between 14 and 25, tabling issues relating to natural disasters and climate change, energy, green economy, biodiversity, the poor and the vulnerable to climate change.
According to Director of the British Council in Vietnam, Chris Brown, the forum is a continuing activity in the council’s climate change programme, looking towards juniors who are pupils and students.
The 40 participants, who have been selected from 400 profiles, will function as ambassadors in their communities and engage in specific actions which will help create spillover effects on others and result in positive affects on environment and sustainable development, Brown said.
The forum offers an ideal platform for youth to meet each other and discuss pressing issues and contribute ideas and solutions to environmental and ecological protection, energy saving and sustainable development.
