Work starts on Dak R’moan suspension bridge

Nhan Dan Online – The People’s Committee of Gia Nghia town (Dak Nong province), in co-ordination with Dak R’tih Hydropower JSC, on June 27 commenced construction for a suspension bridge spanning the Dak R’tih hydropower lake in Dak R’moan commune.

Dak R’moan Bridge, sponsored and constructed by the Dak R’tih Hydropower company, measures 84 metres long and 1.2 metres wide. The VND3.6 billion bridge is expected to be completed and put into use by next June.

In November 2013, Nhan Dan newspaper published an article reflecting that each day more than 100 schoolchildren in R’moan communes had to use a hazardous, seriously damaged temporary pontoon spanning the Dak R’tih hydropower reservoir to get to school.

Following that media report, Dak Nong authorities immediately directed responsible units to prepare plans to build a suspension bridge in Dak R’moan, to ensure the safety of pupils and residents.

At-risk pupils go to school across a severely deteriorated temporary pontoon bridge.
