The provincial Management Unit of project “Prevention and fighting against domestic violence (PFDV), control of gender imbalance at birth (GIB), and care for the elderly” (project VNM8P08) on April 3 summarized activities in 2013 and deployed tasks for 2014.


Project VNM8P08 was implemented in four communes of Thanh Mien district, namely Ngu Hung, Hong Quang, Thanh Tung, and Chi Lang Bac, and four communes and district town of Kinh Mon district, namely Thuong Quan, Bach Dang, Hiep Hoa, and Kinh Mon district town.


The project activities contributed to enhancing the communication capability of the staffs of departments, branches, unions, and localities about PFDV, GIB, and care for the elderly.

Intervention packages of project VNM8P08 in 2014 will continue to be carried out to replicate effective models throughout the province.


The project management unit will concentrate on:


- executing activities to improve knowledge and skills of the officials of relevant departments and branches of the localities deploying the project;


- organizing communication activities on PFDV, gender equality, focusing on men; integrating PFDV contents in the regulations of villages and communes;


- supporting and piloting the victim assistance program, protecting victims, setting up rapid response teams, and operating reliable addresses in communities;


- organizing diverse communication activities on GIB control, focusing on five main object groups, including management officials of Party committees, authorities, and unions; health workers; communication officials; people with prestige and influence in communities; married couples, family members, especially parents of husbands; and men and women to be married, of marriage and reproductive ages;


- further performing activities in support of the care and promotion of the role of the elderly in communities in accordance with the Law on the Elderly and State’s regulations, etc.
