NDO – Binh Duong province’s team came first with six gold, one silver and three bronze medals at the National Youth and Teenagers Tennis Championship, which concluded in Soc Trang province on July 11 after eight days of competition.

Contestants from Ho Chi Minh City bagged four gold, four silver and eight bronze medals, coming in second while those from Hanoi won one gold, three silver and one bronze medal, ranking third.

This year’s tourney attracted nearly 250 players from 27 teams of provinces, cities, agencies and clubs nationwide. Contestants in the U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18 age groups competed for medals in the boys’ and girls’ singles category. The team event was only for U16 and U10 boys and girls.

This year’s tournament aimed to review and evaluate localities’ tennis training, and help select potential players for the national youth tennis team. The event offered a good opportunity for young athletes to sharpen their skills and gain more experience.

The championship was co-organised by the Vietnam Tennis Federation and the Soc Trang provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
