Several Charlie Chaplin films, including “The Tramp,” will be shown for free in Ho Chi Minh City, starting Wednesday evening, to mark the character’s 100th anniversary.

Chaplin’s four films, “Kid Auto Races at Venice,” “The Kid,” “City Lights,” and “Modern Times” will be screened free of charge at the Art House Cine, located on the second floor of Hoa Sen (Lotus) University at 8 Nguyen Van Trang Street, District 1 at 7:30 pm on April 16, 17, and 18.

Audiences will get to know how Chaplin created these flicks through three documentaries in the “Chaplin Today” series produced by France’s MK2 Co. in 2003.

The documentaries, lasting 26 minutes each, feature what famed directors, including Peter Lord and brothers Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne, have to say about Chaplin’s films and the legendary actor’s profound influence on their filmmaking careers.

Viewers will have a chance to join a concert by the Vietnam Harmonica Orchestra on April 16, with an emphasis on Chaplin’s “Limelight” musical work.
