Chi Lang Nam commune (Thanh Mien) on the afternoon of March 20 mobilized the communal boards, branches, and unions to organize tree planting in Co (stork) island ecological area.


This is Chi Lang Nam commune’s annual work to propagandize the protection of the landscape of Co island and creation of shelters for stork and night heron flocks on the island to the people.


This time, Chi Lang Nam commune will plant 100 bamboo clumps, 100 xa cu trees (khaya senegalensis), and 300 eucalyptuses worth a total of over VND20 million.


Co island ecological site has an area of 31.6 hectares and is home to many precious species of stork, night heron, and waterfowl. Around 16,000 storks and 6,000 night herons are currently living on Co island.


Over the past time, there have been several landslides and many trees dying on the island.
