Eight people were rescued from an unlicensed tourist boat which caught fire during a trial run in the world-renowned Ha Long Bay Tuesday.

It happened at around 10:30 a.m. when QN-4894 belonging to Hung Nguyen Limited Company was sailing a kilometer southeast of Titov Island with two photographers and six crew.
A rescue boat belonging to the bay management agency arrived at the scene and rescued the eight.
The boat was then reduced to ashes and sank.
Le Hong Thang, chief of the provincial port authority, told Thanh Nien the boat was prohibited from sailing a year ago for failing to meet safety requirements, but was recently upgraded.
“We had yet to license the boat since it did not meet the conditions stipulated for carrying passengers,” he said.
Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning limestone cliffs, about 160 kilometers (100 miles) east of the capital Hanoi.
