The information was released at a regular press conference held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) in Hanoi on April 17.
The activities are expected to feature the participation of around 300 travel businesses, airlines and representatives of tourism management agencies from Vietnam and Chinese localities.
Exchanges between enterprises from the two sides, as well as activities introducing Vietnamese destinations and art performances, will be the highlights of the programme.
The event, as part of the national tourism promotion programme in 2019, aims to attract more visitors from the Chinese market to Vietnam.
According to the Institute for Tourism Development Research,Chinese visitors always account for 28%-30% of the total international arrivals in Vietnam.
It is forecast that, in the future, the number of Chinese tourists arriving in Vietnam will continue to rise thanks to the low cost, short travel time, and the increased quantity and frequency of flights between the two countries.
In addition to the programme promoting Vietnamese tourism in China, the MoCST will finalise and submit Vietnam’s tourism development strategy by 2030, with a vision to 2050, to the Prime Minister as well as develop guidelines on tourism competitiveness index and priority indicators for tourism for ministries and agencies, among other plans.
