<p>Over the past four days, hundreds of millions of viewers have watched programs on Vietnam’s tourism on CNN television channel, while images and videos on CNN’s political and tourism columns have attracted hundreds of millions of people.</p>
<p>Vietnam’s famous brands, such as Vietnam Airlines and Vingroup, also take this occasion to introduce their international standard services, contributing to popularizing potentials and beauty of the S-shaped country. </p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – An estimated 1.58 million foreigners visited Vietnam in February, a month-on-month increase of 5.8 percent, according to the General Statistics Office.</p>
<p>This was a record high for international visitors in a month due to the festival season at the beginning of the year with many attractive events for foreigners, the office said.</p>
<p>In the first two months of this year, the country welcomed more than 3 million foreign tourists, a year-on-year surge of 8 percent.</p>
<p>Of which, arrivals travelling to Vietnam by air and road increased 5.5 percent year on year to 2.4 million and 29.5 percent to 611,700, respectively. However, those by sea fell 40.7 percent to 54,900 against the same period last year.</p>
<p>Asian visitors reached 2.3 million, accounting for 75.2 percent of total foreign arrivals to Vietnam in the first two months, up 9.4 percent year on year.</p>
<p>Visitors from mainland China were 889,900, the largest number of foreign tourists to Vietnam but the figure was down 1.3 percent year on year. Meanwhile, visitors from the Republic of Korea increased by 24.6 percent to 772,200; from Japan 9.5 percent to 150,800; from Taiwan (China) 27.1 percent to 141,000; from Malaysia 5.3 percent to 91,500; and from Thailand 36.9 percent to 80,000.</p>
<p>European arrivals are estimated at 461,500, up 4.6 percent from the same period last year. Those from America reached 208,600 people, also up 4.6 percent, including 158,100 from the US, an increase of 7 percent.</p>
<p>But visitors from Australia fell 2 percent year-on-year to 88,500 in the first two months.-VNA</p>

<p><strong><br />
Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Toursim has stepped up tourism promotion through domestic and foreign channels during the ongoing DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam.</p>
<p>The ministry has coordinated with the Hanoi People’s Committee in a promotion programme on the CNN television channel which has attracted hundreds of millions of views over the past days.</p>
<p>Besides, multiple articles about the summit with key words like “Hanoi” and “Vietnam”, along with images and information about local tourism, have been published.</p>
<p>The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and real estate conglomerate Vincom have also used this occasion to advertise their international services, thus contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam.</p>
<p>According to Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Ha Van Sieu, the meeting between the DPRK and US leaders in Hanoi is significant event of global relevance. The VNAT considers the event an opportunity for Vietnamese tourism to introduce the nation, people and tourist sites of Vietnam through the media.</p>
<p>The hosting of the meeting is expected to enhance Vietnam’s prestige in the eyes of international friends, helping attract more tourists to the Southeast Asian country.</p>
<p>Along with showcasing famous destinations of Vietnam at the International Media Centre in Hanoi, the VNAT has designed tours inside Hanoi and to Ninh Binh, Ha Long Bay and Sapa for reporters, said Sieu.-VNA</p>

<p>BANGKOK: Thousands of holidaymakers were stranded in Bangkok on Thursday (Feb 28) as Thai Airways cancelled all flights over Pakistan after Islamabad suddenly closed its airspace in response to soaring tensions with India.</p>

<p>Twenty-seven flights, the majority to and from European routes, have been cancelled, the Thai flag carrier said, with three passenger jets forced to return to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport on Thursday.</p>
<p>The cancellations follow a snowballing crisis between nuclear-armed neighbours Pakistan and India, which has raised fears of an all-out war.</p>
<p>Pakistan claimed it shot down two Indian Air Force planes in its airspace, although it later clarified only one Indian pilot had been captured.</p>
<p>India said its forces had also shot down a Pakistani fighter jet as Pakistan suddenly closed its airspace.</p>
<p>Thai Airways said nearly 5,000 passengers had been caught up in the cancellations.</p>
<p>“There are 4,000 from European flights and 700 to 800 from flights to Pakistan,” a Thai Airways spokesperson said.</p>
<p>“We are waiting for permission to fly over other countries,” she said, explaining Iran had rejected a request to fly over its airspace.</p>
<p>“Now we are contacting China,” she added.</p>
<p>The carrier said stranded passengers were put up in hotels at its expense.</p>
<p>But frustration mounted Thursday at Bangkok’s main airport at the sudden delays.</p>
<p>“We have waited here for 11 or 12 hours already,” Gerda Heinzel 55, a German tourist flying back to Munich after a holiday in Phuket.</p>
<p>“We have not been given anything to eat, anywhere to stay. There are no German-speaking staff to help us.”</p>
<p>Flights to London, Paris, Brussels, Milan and Munich were all cancelled on Thursday, while 10 incoming flights from Europe were also scratched.</p>
<p>The cancellations are a blow to Thai Airways during one of the country’s most popular travel periods.</p>
<p>Several airlines, including Emirates and Qatar Airways, also suspended flights to Pakistan on Wednesday. Others, such as Singapore Airlines and British Airways, were forced to reroute flights.</p>
<p>Singapore Airlines said on Thursday all of its Europe-bound flights would continue as planned, without any refuelling stops, and they would reroute to avoid the affected airspace as necessary.</p>
<p>Malaysia Airlines said on its website it was not currently flying over the affected airspace and was avoiding Pakistan and northern Indian airspace for flights to and from Europe until further notice.</p>
<p>Tensions between India and Pakistan have been running high since at least 40 Indian paramilitary police were killed in a Feb 14 suicide car bombing claimed by Pakistan-based militants in Indian-controlled Kashmir.</p>
<p>The risk of conflict rose dramatically on Tuesday when India launched an air strike on what it said was a militant training base.</p>
<p>Both countries ordered air strikes on Tuesday and Wednesday, the first time in history that two nuclear-armed powers have done so, while ground forces have exchanged fire in more than a dozen locations.</p>

<p>The summit is not only an important political and external event of the year but also a marvellous opportunity to advertise the land and people of Hanoi as well as Vietnam’s image as a friendly and safe destination.</p>
<p>These days, Hanoi city is coated with a new appearance. Streets are clean and decorated. Colourful flowers and trees which are entering the changing-leaf season create a picturesque painting.</p>
<p>Hanoi city authorities have provided free buses and meals for journalists who registered to cover the summit, and the city’s tourism sectors have operated free tours for the journalists to explore the time-honoured culture and superb cuisine of Hanoi and its neighbouring places of Ha Long city and Ninh Binh province.</p>
<p>Many volunteer groups have worked to encourage Hanoians to build an elegant, civilised lifestyle.</p>
<p>As the working attitude and service quality of bus and taxi drivers have posed significant impressions on international visitors, including foreign journalists, the Ministry of Transport as asked functional agencies to increase management over public buses and taxi companies during the summit. Bus and taxi drivers are dubbed as “special envoys” of the host country as they are the first ones to welcome guests and the last ones to bid them farewell.</p>
<p>In such a short period of time, Hanoi completed its preparations for the DPRK – USA summit, proving its significant progresses in the preparations for hosting major international events.</p>
<p>The city’s landscapes, environmental hygienic condition, and urban management are well organized in order to create the most favourable conditions and comforts for international guests and have gained much compliments from international media and people in the country.</p>
<p>It is hoped that these improvements will be maintained every day in the city, contributing to realising the target of making Hanoi a center of culture and tourism, and an ideal, attractive and interesting destination in the eyes of international visitors.</p>

<p>In his opening speech, Mr Sieu described the DPRK-USA summit as significant world-class event, noting that this is a golden opportunity to promote Vietnamese tourism and elevate the image of the country and people to the world.</p>
<p>There are about 3,000 reporters from around the world coming to Vietnam to report on the event as well as social, cultural and tourism aspects in Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general.</p>
<p>International reporters will have the chance to directly explore destinations and experience distinctive tourism products and services of Hanoi and Vietnam as well.</p>
<p>The VNAT leader underscored the importance of the strong support of international reporters in disseminating information on Vietnam’s destinations, tourism services and products in the world’s leading media, social networking sites and websites.</p>
<p>Several tourism businesses such as Saigontourist and Hanoitourist also affirmed their willingness to provide reporters with the best services and free tours like Hanoi City Tour, Café Hanoi, Bat Trang pottery village, Duong Lam ancient village, Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh, said Vu The Binh, vice chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA), adding that information counter at the International Media Centre will equip them with sufficient information on tourism programs.</p>
<p>Dinh Ngoc Duc, head of the VNAT marketing department said reporters from the US, the Republic of Korea, Japan and China have made up 50 percent out of 3,000 reporters participating in the DPRK-USA summit, noting that these countries are also key Vietnam’s tourism markets with the number of tourists account for some 70% of total international visitors to Vietnam.</p>
<p>To prepare for the event, the tourism sector has worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in providing information on Vietnam tourism (video, e-publications like Vietnam Tour Guide), connecting the website <a>www.vietnam.travel</a> to the registration page for international media run by MOFA at <a>www.dprk.usasummit2019.mofa.gov.vn</a>.</p>
<p>At the International Media Centre, VNAT has co-ordinated with the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to build exhibition spaces for heritages, destinations of regions throughout Vietnam as well as creating spaces to showcase Vietnamese tourism services and products through promotional materials and providing virtual reality experiences at Vietnam’s tourist attractions.</p>
<p>The VNAT has also co-ordinated with VITA to install billboards featuring outstanding tourist attractions, design free tours and provide Vietnamese traditional gifts such as Dong Ho folk paintings, conical hats to international reporters.</p>

<p><span>Around 3,000 international reporters have arrived in Hanoi for the event.</span></p>
<p><span>A large number of reporters have enjoyed their free meals at the Cultural Friendship Palace’s international media centre in Hanoi.</span></p>
<p><span>Besides international dishes, many kinds of Vietnamese food have also been provided such as Pho Thin noodle, Bun Thang noodle soup featuring shredded of chicken, pork, fried egg, mushrooms, and dried turnip and Bun Cha noodle with grilled meat. </span></p>
<p><span>Ba Am Bun Thang brand attracted quite many foreign reporters. Doan Van Lai, a third generation descendant of Ba Am Bun Thang Restaurant at 37 Cua Nam, Hanoi, said Ba Am appeared in the city more than 100 years ago. The dish is made from 12 ingredients, including chicken, egg, shrimp and pork. </span></p>
<p><span>Lai said that he felt very proud of when his family’s food was introduced to international guests on the occasion of the summit.</span></p>
<p><span>Banh Khuc Co Lan, cakes made of glutinous rice mixed with everlasting gnaphalium leaves, have also been served at the international media centre. Nguyen Thi Lan, the owner of this brand, made the cakes herself for reporters. </span></p>
<p><span>Lan’s stall serves from 6:30 am to 11 pm. On the first day when the centre was opened, around 500 Banh Khuc Co Lan cakes were ordered.</span></p>

<p><span>Bui Huong Thuy, a representative from the Hanoi Department of Tourism, said Hanoi authorities had selected nine famous dishes to serve reporters, including Phu Thuong sticky rice, Uoc Le pork sausages, Giang egg coffee, Bun Cha, Bun Thang noodle and Thin noodle. </span></p>
<p><span>Most of the journalists seemed to like the food. </span></p>
<p><span>Apart from dishes for main meals, the media centre’s menus also include fast food. </span></p>

<p>Today, on the occasion of the visit of United States President Donald Trump to Vietnam to join the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea-United States Summit, Vietjet and Bamboo Airways signed contracts with Boeing to buy an additional 110 airplanes.</p>
<p>Notably, innovative and growing Vietnamese carrier Vietjet purchased 100 additional 737 MAX airplanes for $12.7 billion, according to list prices, taking their MAX order to 200 jets.</p>
<p>The deal includes 20 MAX 8s and 80 of the new, larger MAX 10 variant, which will have the lowest seat-mile costs for a single-aisle airplane and be the most profitable jet in its market segment.</p>
<p>By ordering 80 MAX 10s, Vietjet becomes the largest Asian customer of the airplane type. The carrier plans to use the added capacity to meet growing demand across Vietnam, as well as to serve popular destinations throughout Asia.</p>

<p>“The deal for 200 Boeing 737 MAX airplanes is an important move for us to keep up with our international flight network expansion plan with a higher capacity, thus offering our passengers more exciting experiences and taking them to more new international destinations,” said Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, president and CEO of Vietjet. “I believe that our fleet will have breakthroughs thanks to new-generation technologies, which will improve flight quality and enhance operational reliability, while reducing operating costs in the future. Passengers will then have more opportunities to fly with reasonable fares. The contract signing ceremony, which is witnessed by the top leaders of Vietnam and the US on the occasion of the US-North Korea Summit in Hanoi, will mark a milestone in the two companies’ growth.”</p>
<p>Vietjet placed its first order for 100 737 MAX airplanes in 2016, which set the mark for the largest commercial jet purchase in Vietnam’s aviation sector at the time.</p>
<p>“We are pleased to expand our partnership with Vietjet and to support their impressive growth with new, advanced airplanes such as the 737 MAX. We are confident the MAX will help Vietjet grow more efficiently and provide great travel experiences for their passengers,” said Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO Kevin McAllister. “The economic expansion in Hanoi and across Vietnam is impressive. Vietjet and the country’s burgeoning aviation sector are clearly enablers, helping to stimulate travel within Vietnam and connecting Vietnam with the rest of Asia. We are proud to support this economic development, which in turn supports engineering and manufacturing jobs in the United States.”</p>
<p>In addition to the airplane purchases, Boeing will partner with Vietjet to enhance technical and engineering expertise, train pilots and technicians, and improve management capabilities at the airline and in Vietnam.</p>
<p>The carrier also uses Boeing’s digital solutions to optimise its operations, including flight planning and Tech Log Book.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Bamboo Airways confirmed an order for 10 787-9 Dreamliners valued at $3 billion according to list prices.</p>
<p>“We are excited to add the new 787 Dreamliner to our growing fleet,” said Trinh Van Quyet, chairman of FLC Group and owner of Bamboo Airways. “Our long-term vision is to connect Vietnam with key markets in Asia, Europe, and North America and the Dreamliner will enable us to launch these long-haul operations. The 787’s superior operating economics and efficiency, as well as the passenger-pleasing interior of the Dreamliner, will allow us to successfully grow our business while enabling us to better serve our customers.”</p>

<p>Bamboo Airways, a startup airline founded in 2017, began commercial operations in January 2019, offering flights linking the capital of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with other cities in Vietnam. The airline plans to offer up to 40 domestic routes in 2019. Additionally, Bamboo Airways is preparing to launch international routes to Thailand, South Korea, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia, before broadening services to other destinations in Asia, Europe, and North America.</p>
<p>“The 787 Dreamliner’s unmatched efficiency, range, and flexibility make it the perfect airplane for Bamboo Airways to achieve its long-range ambitions. We are excited to advance the partnership between Boeing and Bamboo Airways and we look forward to helping them connect Asia with Europe, North America, and beyond,” said Kevin McAllister, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.</p>
<p>The 787 Dreamliner family allows airlines to fly long range while reducing fuel costs by more than 20 per cent compared to previous widebody jets. The Dreamliner’s superior efficiency and range have allowed airlines to open more than 210 new non-stop routes around the world since it entered service.</p>
<p>At 63 metres (206 feet), the 787-9 can fly 290 passengers in a typical two-class configuration for up to 7,635 nautical miles (14,140 kilometres). The airplane is six metres longer than the original Dreamliner and is capable of carrying more passengers and flying farther.</p>
<p>The 787 Dreamliner is the fastest-selling widebody airplane in history with more than 1,400 orders from 75 customers since its launch. Nearly 800 Dreamliners have entered service around the world, helping airlines save 33 billion pounds of fuel.</p>
<p>Bamboo Airways is wholly-owned by FLC Group, a Vietnamese multi-industry company focusing on aviation, real estate, resorts, farming, and golf.</p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – Vietnam is taking full advantage of the second DPRK-USA Summit in Hanoi to promote its tourism as the whole world is paying special attention to the event and the host country, said a tourism official.</p>
<p>The second DPRK-USA Summit is an international event of global concern and thousands of reporters from many news and press agencies around the world have come to Hanoi to cover the meeting and they have seen with their own eyes the city’s beauty and attractions, Ha Van Sieu, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), told the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).</p>
<p>The successful hosting of the summit will help Vietnam raise its position and prestige in the world arena, and gain more sentiments from foreigners, thereby attracting more international tourists, even those who have not known much about Vietnam, and encouraging them to spend more during their holidays in the country, he said.</p>
<p>Vietnam is also expected to draw more direct and indirect investments after the DPRK-USA Summit, Sieu said, adding that increased inflows of investment and foreign visitors will fuel ideas about new tourism products and new tourist destinations.</p>
<p>The official mentioned the idea of turning Vietnam into a bridge connecting the world and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) through tourism since Vietnam has built up its brand as a peaceful and friendly nation and more opportunities are created for Vietnamese businesses to invest in the DPRK.</p>
<p>To further popularize Vietnam’s tourism, the VNAT had previously asked culture and tourism establishments in the capital city of Hanoi to ensure environmental sanitation, as well as host and guide international reporters during the two-day summit.</p>
<p>It requested Hanoi and other provinces and cities nationwide to increase their inspections of tourism services to ensure the best quality for high-level delegations, international reporters and tourists before, during and after the event.</p>
<p>The VNAT also worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to proactively provide information about Vietnam’s tourism through videos, Vietnam Tour Guide e-publication, tourism website http://bit.ly/2zizM6T, and the ministry’s international press registration site http://bit.ly/2XrgmEI;</p>
<p>The VNAT, in coordination with the Vietnam Tourism Association (VTA), have hung large billboards introducing free tours for reporters which include the Hanoi city tour and trips to Café Hanoi, Bat Trang ceramics village, and UNESCO world heritage site Ha Long Bay in northeastern Quang Ninh province arranged by prestigious travel companies Hanoitourist and Saigontourist.</p>
<p>After the summit, the VNAT plans to organise a wide range of activities to promote Vietnam’s tourism in the US, Russia, the Republic of Korea and Japan in a bid to lure more holidaymakers to the Southeast Asian nation.</p>
<p>According to the organizers, almost 3,000 reporters from more than 200 media agencies in nearly 40 countries and territories across the world have arrived in Vietnam to cover the summit and they will be able to discover special tourism products and services both in Hanoi and around the country.-VNA</p>

<p>Hanoians consider <i>Cha Ca</i> to be so exceptional that there is a road in the capital dedicated to these fried morsels of fish — Cha Ca Street.</p>
<p>Along the busy road, where spiderwebs of exposed electric wires hang overhead, dozens of specialists compete to sell the best <i>cha ca</i> — crispy turmeric-marinated fish that’s fried tableside in a pan with herbs.</p>
<p>The most famous restaurant on this strip is Ca La Vong — one of the oldest eateries in Hanoi — and the first to set up shop on Cha Ca Street, over a century ago.</p>
<p>The dish itself dates back more than 130 years. It was first invented by the local Doan family, who served the special meal to troops during French colonial rule.</p>
<p><b>Banh Tom (shrimp cake)</b></p>
<p>Deceptively time-intensive, Hanoi-style <i>banh tom</i>, or shrimp cakes, have just a few main ingredients: freshwater crayfish or shrimp from West Lake, flour and sweet potato.</p>
<p>Instead of grinding the shrimp into a paste (like a fish ball), the fried seafood is usually left whole — sitting atop the crunchy cakes.</p>
<p>It’s typically served with lettuce leaves for wrapping, plus chili, lime juice and fish sauce for dipping.</p>
<p><b><i>Bun Ca</i></b> <b>(fish noodle soup)</b></p>
<p>Fresh and light, bun ca combines fried fishcakes, dill, tomatoes, green onions, and perilla — a mint-like herb.</p>
<p>A lunchtime staple in Hanoi, you can find <i>bun ca</i> (fish noodle soup) just about anywhere.</p>

<p><b><i>Bun Rieu Cua</i></b> <b>(crab noodle soup)</b></p>
<p><i>Bun rieu</i> is a meat or seafood vermicelli soup with a distinctive crimson color. The broth gets its appearance from tomato paste and annatto oil, made from achiote tree seeds.</p>
<p>Freshwater crabmeat and blanched tomatoes are the soup’s star players. Tamarind paste lends sourness to the broth, while airy bits of fried tofu contribute crunch.</p>
<p>Depending on the region, bun rieu might also come topped with beef, pork, snails or fish.</p>
<p>Vermicelli noodles swim in the soup, adding balance to a dish that’s both colorful and light. Add to that the requisite plateful of lime wedges, chili and greens — like banana blossoms and mint — and you have a perfect meal.</p>
<p>Where to try it? There’s an excellent bun rieu street stall run by Ms. Thu, located in Tho Xuong Alley, near St. Joseph’s Cathedral.</p>
<p><b><i>Ca Phe Trung</i></b> <b>(egg coffee)</b></p>
<p>Vietnamese “egg coffee” — or <i>Ca Phe Trung</i> — is a Hanoi specialty in which a creamy soft, meringue-like egg white foam is perched on dense Vietnamese coffee.</p>
<p>While destinations across the city now serve it, Hanoi’s humble Cafe Giang cafe claims to have invented it.</p>
<p>There are hot and cold versions. The former is served as a yellow concoction in a small glass. It’s consumed with a spoon and tastes almost like a coffee flavoured ice cream — more like a dessert than coffee.</p>
<p>The hot version comes resting in a small dish of hot water to maintain its temperature. The strong coffee taste at the bottom of the cup seeps through the egg — the yellow layer on top — and is quite thick and sweet, though not sickly.</p>

<p><strong>Ca Mau (VNA)</strong> – More than 1,300ha of U Minh Ha National Park in the southernmost province of Ca Mau will be zoned for an eco-tourism site from now to 2025.</p>
<p>The move aims to develop eco-tourism in the park sustainably while conserving and developing the local cajuput forest ecosystem.</p>
<p>In this site, fauna and flora collection and herbal gardens will be formed while hospitality services will be provided.</p>
<p>Tours will also be created to connect the site with other destinations in Ca Mau and nearby provinces.</p>
<p>Authorities estimate that the project’s implementation will need more than 1.45 trillion VND (62.46 million USD), including some 1.35 trillion VND to be mobilised from private resources.</p>
<p>They expect the U Minh Ha National Park will welcome 203,000 visitors and earn 295 billion VND in 2025.</p>
<p>The park covers more than 8,500ha in Tran Van Thoi and U Minh districts of Ca Mau province. It is also surrounded by another 25,000ha of forest and land in the buffer zone.</p>
<p>Known for rich biodiversity, it habours 79 plant families with cajuput the most common trees, 32 mammal species and 74 bird species. Many of them are named in the Red List of Threatened Species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.</p>
<p>The U Minh Ha National Park is among the three wetland reserves in the Mekong Delta. It is also recognised as one of the three core zones of the Mui Ca Mau World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.-VNA</p>

<p>(VEN) - Phu Quoc Island in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang boasts idyllic beaches, romantic sunsets, evergreen forests, and a serene atmosphere. Located 45 kilometers west of the province’s Ha Tien City in the far south of the country, the northern part of the island is relatively untouched due to its status as a UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)-listed national park but there are plenty of luxurious resorts, funky bars, and quaint cafes along the southern coastline. Aside from beachside activities, visitors can also explore traditional villages, expansive nature parks and Buddhist pagodas, all of which are easily accessible via motorcycle, taxi, bus or even daytrips by reputable companies. Catering to just about any budget level and preference, Phu Quoc’s dining scene ranges from local markets selling fresh seafood and Vietnamese street food to expat-owned bistros offering authentic western and European fare.</p>

<p><strong>Great potential</strong></p>
<p>According to Duong Van Khon, Director of the Phu Quoc Today Travel, over the past 10 years, Phu Quoc has developed dramatically thanks to its improved transport infrastructure and better accommodation services, electricity and water systems, service quality and tourist offerings.</p>
<p>Phu Quoc has a valuable advantage for tourism development being home to 14 sandy beaches including Bai Sao, Bai Dai, Bai Truong, Bai Vong, Bai Khem and Bai Thom, among others. Nature has been well preserved in Phu Quoc, while the island is renowned for its marine biodiversity with sea grass, coral reefs, pearl oysters, cajuput forests, saltmarsh forests, and rock mountain forests.</p>
<p>Phu Quoc is the largest and only island in Vietnam not to suffer from storms, which allows it to attract visitors all year round. The 600 square kilometer island has a coastline of 150km, which enables it to offer tourist services throughout the island.</p>
<p>Phu Quoc is located on an important sea route and is easily accessible from major tourist markets in the region, such as Cambodia and Thailand.</p>
<p>In particular, the island has unique traditional marine cultural values including fishing festivals and historical and cultural relic sites, fishing village activities, and special products such as fish sauce, pepper, cashews, pearl, honey, and Tomentose rose myrtle wine.</p>
<p>Thanks to those advantages, over the past five to six years, Phu Quoc’s potential has been awakened. A series of luxury hotels and resorts were built; services, restaurants, tourist attractions, entertainment centers on the island have been improved. There are 40 international and domestic flights to Phu Quoc every day, creating favorable conditions for visitors to reach and explore the island.</p>
<p>The number of tourist arrivals to Phu Quoc increased from 913,000 in 2015 to 1.5 million in 2016, 2.7 million in 2017 and almost three million in 2018.</p>
<p><strong>Green growth needed</strong></p>
<p>However, this prosperity comes at a price to the island’s environment and traditional cultural values. For example, some resorts have discouraged the development of the local fishing industry – despite its potential attraction for tourists. Strict management is needed to protect the island’s environment and traditional values.</p>
<p>Phu Quoc Today Travel Director Duong Van Khon said Phu Quoc needs to connect service chains to create new tourist offerings in order to better satisfy visitor demands with the best prices. With its traditional crafts, Phu Quoc can learn from how Thailand and Singapore develop tourism to make its tour prices most reasonable and standardize service quality. In particular, Phu Quoc should standardize and improve the quality of tour guides to ensure they can provide true and interesting information to visitors to the island.</p>
<p>The Kien Giang Province Communist Party Committee issued Resolution 03-NQ/TU dated November 16, 2017 on tourism development to 2020 and a vision to 2030. The resolution says Phu Quoc Island plays a core and important role in the province’s socioeconomic development. Kien Giang is proposing that the government promulgate policies specifically designed to help Phu Quoc tourism develop further.</p>

<p><span>Hanoi Paragon Hill in Ba Vi District is attracting visitors wanting photos with the statues of the North Korean and US leaders as the Kim-Trump summit is nearing. </span></p>
<p><span>Nguyen Duc Phuong, manager of the resort, said that the life-size statues were built in April 2017 amid the heightened tension between North Korea and the United States after North Korea conducted a series of missile and nuclear tests. The statutes were aimed to express Phuong’s expectation for world peace. The works were finished within two months. </span></p>

<div><span>Vietnamese travel companies will offer many free tours to international reporters who come to Vietnam for the upcoming Kim-Trump Summit.</span>
<p><span>According to Ha Van Sieu, deputy general director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), the agency has built a Vietnamese tourism space at Viet Xo Cultural Palace to introduce the images of Vietnam to foreign reporters.</span></p>

<p><span>“We have been speeding up the decoration at the palace. Following instructions from the prime minister on tourism promotion, the VNAT has opened thousands of free tours for international reporters who come to Vietnam for the summit. Besides, thousands of free double-decker bus tickets will be offered for the reporters during the summit,” Binh noted.</span></p>
<p><span>The VNAT has called on travel firms to conduct short tours to visit Hanoi, Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh and Tam Coc Bich Dong in Ninh Binh Province. The tour providers can open an information stall at the international media centre at Viet Xo Cultural Palace.</span></p>
<p><span>The free tours will be carried out from February 27 to March 1.</span></p>
<p><span>To date, Saigontourist, Vietravel and TransViet have confirmed to join the tour programme.</span></p>
<p><span>Binh highlighted that the summit would be a good opportunity to promote Vietnam’s tourism, citing Singapore which organised the event in 2018 as an example. Thanks to the summit, the number of foreign visitors to Singapore increased by two million in the year.</span></p>
<p><span>Meanwhile, representatives from some tour operators have expressed their confidence in attracting the reporters for the tours.</span></p>
<p><span>After the summit, the VNAT will implement a tourism promotion campaign in several key markets, Binh said.</span></p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – The upcoming DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam is a golden chance to promote Vietnamese tourism and enhance the image of a safe, friendly and hospitable destination.</p>
<p>According to Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Ha Van Sieu, the second meeting between the DPRK and US leaders in Hanoi is significant event of global relevance.</p>
<p>The VNAT considers the event an opportunity for Vietnamese tourism to introduce the nation, people and tourist sites of Vietnam through the media, said Sieu.</p>
<p>The hosting of the meeting is expected to enhance Vietnam’s prestige in the eyes of international friends, helping attract more tourists to the Southeast Asian country, he said.</p>
<p>Previously, Australian PM John Howard jogged around Hoan Kiem Lake during his stay for the 14th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, US President Barack Obama enjoyed “bun cha” at a small restaurant in Le Van Huu street and talked to a street vendor in Me Tri market. These stories reflected a safe and hospitable Vietnam, stated Sieu.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Hoang Nhan Chinh, head of the Secretariat of the Vietnam Tourism Advisory Board, said the second DPRK-USA Summit will turn Vietnam into the focus of the global media, giving a precious chance for tourism promotion.</p>
<p>He advised the sector to pay greater attention to approaching foreign reporters through free tours to popular destinations, giving them information for their stories.</p>
<p>Sieu said that to make full use of the historical chance, the VNAT has worked closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to introduce Vietnamese tourism. The VNAT has prepared several video clips on tourist sites, food and heritage of Vietnam to send to foreign reporters.</p>
<p>Along with showcasing famous destinations of Vietnam at the International Media Centre in Hanoi, the VNAT has designed tours inside Hanoi and to Ninh Binh, Ha Long Bay and Sapa for reporters, said Sieu.</p>
<p>At the same time, Chinh stressed the need to focus on attracting more tourists from the US following the summit by designing special policies for them such as visa exemptions and opening a direct air route linking the two countries.</p>
<p>Chinh underscored the need for the tourism sector to enhance the quality of destinations. He also advised Hanoi and Da Nang – the cities that have hosted many world leaders – to expand meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) tourism, opening opportunities for economic investment.-VNA</p>

<p>The Vietnam National Tourism Administration (VNAT) has announced that the reporters will be able to register for free visits to popular tourist destinations in northern Vietnam, including Hanoi, Ninh Binh and the world-famous Ha Long Bay.</p>
<p>The reporters are in town to cover the second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday next week.</p>
<p>Around 2,600 journalists from news agencies around the world, including prominent ones like <em>Reuters</em>, <em>AP</em>, <em>AFP</em>, <em>NHK</em> and <em>Yonhap</em> have reached Hanoi to cover the historic event.</p>
<p>The free tours, to be arranged by leading travel agency Saigontourist, is an effort to give Vietnamese tourism a boost.</p>
<p>Ha Van Sieu, deputy head of VNAT, said the Trump-Kim Summit was a “historic opportunity” for Vietnam’s tourism as the event is the center of  global attention.</p>
<p>“Vietnam should take advantage of this opportunity to promote the image of the country as a beautiful, peaceful and friendly destination,” Sieu said.</p>
<p>The country’s tourism industry hopes to welcome 17-20 million foreign visitors a year by 2020, earning an annual revenue of $35 billion and contributing 10 percent to the country’s GDP.</p>
<p>Last year a record 15.4 million visitors came to the country, a whopping 20 percent increase from 2017.</p>
<p>A report published last year by the United Nations World Tourism Organization ranked Vietnam’s tourism growth the fourth highest in the world.</p>

<p><strong>HCM City (VNA)</strong> – Ho Chi Minh City has joined Bangkok and Bali in a new list of best places for solo travel, according to Airbnb, an accommodation service that allows people to list their homes and hotels for holiday rentals.</p>
<p>Airbnb recently put HCM City among the five most exciting places for a solo traveller’s vacation.</p>
<p>Among other things, it mentions Ben Thanh Market as place where visitors to HCM City should get lost for a while in the maze of thousands of shops selling a wide range of goods.</p>
<p>The War Remnants Museum, the Independence Palace and the Cu Chi Tunnel, around 70 kilometres northwest of downtown HCM City, are war-related sites popular among visitors.</p>

<p>Meat has various kinds and for “<em>thit kho</em>” (simmered meat) we also have a wide range of choices like pork, beef, chicken, duck. We can make numerous delicious dishes from them, such as” thit kho tau”(meat simmered in a clay pot), “ thit kho dua”(meat simmered with coconuts), “ <em>thit bo kho hat dua</em>” (beef stewed with seeds of water-melon), “ <em>gio lon kho dua</em>” (pork-pie braised with coconuts) or “ <em>ga kho chao</em>”. Although there are a large number of dishes related to “<em>thit kho</em>”, the method of cooking are similar. To be specific, the process of making “<em>thit kho tau</em>” will be introduced as follows.</p>
<p>First of all, we need to prepare the ingredients: sugar, pepper, red chilli, a coconut, salt, garlic, onion, “<em>keo dang</em>” and lean pork. The pork is washed carefully and then cut into small square pieces, marinated with pepper, sugar and salt and left for two hours, while we boil a pot filled with coconut juice. After that, we put pork into the boiled coconut juice, maintain a low level of fire and ensure the level of coconut juice, if it dries, we pour a little water into the pot. When the meat changes colour, we add “keo dang” to the pot. And we simmer the pot until the sauce is thick and coats the meat.</p>
<p>“<em>Thit kho tau</em>”is really gorgeous and can be served with various kinds of food but is especially suitable for using with steamed rice.</p>
<p>In general, making the “kho” dish is not difficult but requires patience. Because no oil needs to be added with this cooking technique, food cooked in this method may be lower in fat compared with food prepared by other methods such as sautéing or frying. And unlike boiling, the nutrients are not leached out into the water. The food is not only delicious but also good for our health.</p>

But it still lacks flights to main destinations, such as Hanoi, Da Nang, Buon Ma Thuot and Nha Trang. There is only 1-2 flights per day that can not meet the increasing travel demand.</div>
<div>The carrier also plans to open international routes from Vietnam to Thailand and Singapore in the coming time, he added.</div>
<div>Bamboo Airways Company of the property developer FLC Group was established in 2017. The airline offers direct flights to Vietnam’s popular destinations where FLC has built major tourist complexes, such as Quy Nhon, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang. The carrier received the Government’s approval of its operation licence on July 9, 2018.</div>
<div>Bamboo Airlines has also raised its chartered capital from VND600 billion to VND1.3 trillion (US$56.69 million), which is important for the airline to run a fleet of over 30 aircrafts.</div>
<div>In March, FLC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus to purchase 24 A321Neo aircrafts worth US$3 billion for its planned Bamboo Airways operation.</div>

<div>This tourism project is considered as a major project in the western mountainous district of Quang Nam Province, located at A So Hamlet, Ma Cooih Commune in Dong Giang District, covering an area of 120 hectares, lodging 100,000 guests annually.</div>
<div>Earlier, vice chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province Tran Van Tan signed Decision 295/QD-UBND to approve detailed site planning of the Dong Giang Sky Gate Ecotourism.</div>
<div>The ecotourism destination will be divided into four main zones, including supporting services – technical infrastructure, reception and parking lot – square; and supplement items, such as ticket booths, souvenir shops, gazeboes, covered walkways, sightseeing tower, restrooms and waste and waste water treatment.</div>
<div>The second zone’s main function is ecotourism which includes gazeboes, sightseeing tower, restaurants, covered bridge, rescue house, auditorium and operating house.</div>
<div>The third zone which includes ancient city architectural area, cable car station, restaurants, sightseeing tower, covered walkways, gazeboes and exhibition house is the place for cultural tourism activities.</div>
<div>The fourth zone includes hotel, restaurants, sightseeing tower, cable car station and indoor playground.</div>
<div>Representative of FVG Group said that some of the items will be put into operation by the end of this year. At first, many people thought that choosing Dong Giang District for tourism investment would be risky. However, investor had thoroughly conducted survey before deciding to invest and develop the project in ecotourism direction.</div>
<div>Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Nhung, deputy CEO of FVG, said that FVG pledged to protect the ecological environment when investing in the Dong Giang Sky Gate Ecotourism. It will try to preserve natural environment and minimize impacts on nature.</div>
<div>The company has also started training for laborers who are ethnic minority of Co Tu as it also promised to train and make the best use of local human resource.</div>
<div>Mr. Ho Quang Minh, vice chairman of the People’s Committee of Dong Giang District, said that the project directly affects to 63 households in A So Hamlet, Ma Cooih Commune. The Government is currently making compensation for them. Some households have agreed to receive compensation with a total of more than VND15 billion for stage 1.</div>
<div>According to him, the district’s income will increase thanks to this project. Compensation will help local residents to build new houses as well as change their livelihoods.</div>

<p>Ceramic products made by Huong Canh artisans are famous for their beauty, durability, color, and simplicity.</p>
<p>For centuries, the Vietnamese people have had a folk saying: “Mong Cai porcelain, Huong Canh jars” to compliment two of the best-quality terracotta brands in the northern region.  </p>
<p>According to the village’s history, the Le-Trinh dynasty in the middle of the 18th century assigned Trinh Xuan Bien, a talented mandarin, to help the Huong Canh villagers improve their farming. He also taught the locals to make pottery products. When he died, he was honored as the craft’s progenitor.</p>
<p>Giang Thi Nhan, a Huong Canh artisan, said, “Each year on the sixth day of the first lunar month, a ritual is performed in Lo Cang to honor the craft’s progenitor Trinh Xuan Bien. We used to have a cooperative. All of our products were bought by the state. When the cooperative was dissolved, all the Huong Canh villagers were engaged in pottery production. There are currently 6 workshops in the village.”</p>
<p>The feature that most distinguishes Huong Canh pottery is that tea stored in a Huong Canh ceramic jar will never grow moldy and will keep its fragrance. Wine, too, will not lose its fragrance or alcohol concentration when stored in a Huong Canh terracotta jar.</p>
<p>Seeds stored in the jars are guaranteed to sprout on schedule. The local clay soil produces pottery that is waterproof and lightproof enough to keep food fresh for years.  </p>
<p>Nguyen Hong Quang, the owner of a pottery-kiln in Lo Cang hamlet, said: “Huong Canh pottery does not use a glaze because it is made from sediment clay with molecules that tightly join together to form a strong, waterproof barrier. Each product has a color which reveals the location of the kiln.</p>
<p>Huong Canh was favored by nature with an abundance of clay of two types – brown clay taken from half a meter to one and a half meter deep and green clay taken from 3m to 6m. To make pottery items, the two types of clay are mixed in a ratio of 60% brown clay and 40% green clay.”</p>
<p>The village is famous for hand-made pans, pots, teapots, jars, cups, and, small coffins. Lately Huong Canh has added new products to its traditional items.</p>
<p>“Now we make pottery products both for daily use and as art. This has expanded our market. The price of ordinary pottery is low. A ton of clay made into ordinary pottery items earns 430 USD but the same amount of clay made into pottery art earns 1,290 USD. I have a shop in Hanoi and plan to open a showroom in HCMC soon,” said Quang.</p>
<p>Huong Canh potters now make fine art pieces, statues, and reliefs in Vietnamese motifs. Village visitors can observe and participate in pottery production. Huong Canh pottery products are now sold nationwide and exported to other countries.</p>

<p>The move aims to serve the attraction of investment and the travel demand and trade activities between the people in the northern central region and Thailand, thus contributing to accelerating socio-economic development. Furthermore, it also creates an important premise for the opening of additional air routes in the near future.</p>
<p>On the occasion, Vietravel operated a charter flight from Vinh to Bangkok, which was the first international flight made at the newly inaugurated international terminal at Vinh Airport.</p>
<p>The travel company also coordinated with the relevant units to greet another flight carrying 180 passengers from Thailand, the biggest international delegation in many recent years, to arrive at Vinh Airport.</p>
<p>On the same day, Bamboo Airways, an FLC Group-owned carrier, launched four air routes, including Vinh – Buon Ma Thuot city (Dak Lak province), Vinh – Da Lat city (Lam Dong), Hanoi – Vinh, and Ho Chi Minh City – Vinh, at Vinh Airport in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu.</p>
<p>With the newly inaugurated air routes, Bamboo Airways is now operating a total of 16 routes to localities nationwide and will look towards operating 37 domestic and international air routes by the end of this year.</p>

<p>Dung announced the information at a meeting on February 22 to discuss solutions to promote the operation of Can Tho International Airport.</p>
<p>It is scheduled that the budget carrier Vietjet Air will launch four domestic routes from Can Tho – HaiPhong, Can Tho – Vinh, Can Tho – Da Lat, and Can Tho – ThoXuan (ThanhHoa) between March and May this year.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the Malaysian budget carrier Air Asia will operate two international routes connecting Can Tho with Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.</p>
<p>In addition, the newly established Vietnamese carrier Bamboo Airway will open a route linking Can Tho with Hanoi with one flight per day.</p>
<p>According to the Director of the Can Tho Department of Transport, Can Tho International Airport began operation in 2011 with the capacity of receiving 3 million passengers per year but the airport has reached less than half of its capacity and currently only has domestic routes.</p>
<p>Dung also suggested that the Can Tho authorities put forth measures to promote new air routes and diversify tourism products and services to effectively exploit the air routes and boost tourism.</p>
<p>Can Tho airport received 815,000 passengers in 2018, up 20% compared to 2017 and reaching 40% of its designed capacity.</p>

<p>Under the master plan, approximately 760 hectares will be allocated to functional areas for tourism development, which will offer visitors with diverse types of tourism, including cultural tourism, sports tourism, and agritourism.</p>
<p>By 2025, the site targets to welcome three million vacationers, earn VND1.2 trillion in tourism revenue, and generate jobs for roughly 3,500 workers. The figures are expected to reach 5 million arrivals, VND3.5 trillion, and 3,700 workers by 2030.</p>

<p><strong>Lam Dong (VNA)</strong> – The People’s Committee of Lam Dong released on February 21 a master plan, approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, to turn the Dankia – Suoi Vang area into a national tourism site by 2030.</p>
<p>Dankia – Suoi Vang is a forest-lake site spanning about 4,000 hectares in the Central Highlands province’s Da Lat City and Lac Duong district.</p>
<p>According to the planning, approximately 760 hectares of the total area will be used for tourism, toward making the location a tourism hub of the region and nation by 2030. If recognised as a national tourism site, Dankia – Suoi Vang will become the second in Da Lat following the Tuyen Lam Lake, which achieved the status in 2017.   </p>
<p>The plan focuses on developing cultural, resort, sport and educational zones at the site. It set goals for Dankia – Suoi Vang to welcome some 3 million tourists and earn more than 1.2 trillion VND (51.65 million USD) from tourism in 2025, with the figures increased to 5 million visitors and 3.5 trillion VND (150.66 million USD) in 2030.    </p>
<p>Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Phan Van Da has requested related sectors and localities push for early implementation of the planning. He also directed local departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism and of Construction to prevent illegal construction and land clearing activities on the site.</p>
<p>On the occasion, Lam Dong announced a list of 17 priorised projects on building infrastructure and facilities for Dankia-Suoi Vang tourism development.-VNA</p>

Vinh Long (VNA) –</strong> The Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long is developing standout tourism products to lure more visitors, said Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Thanh Tuan.</p>
<p>Boasting strength in eco-tourism with a vast area of orchards, the province is working to develop local homestay services by encouraging homestay owners to invest heavily in the facility, and equipping local residents with necessary tourism skills so that they can provide the visitors with better services.</p>
<p>According to Tuan, the province is now housing 26 standardised homestays, with two meeting ASEAN homestay standards. They are expected to popularise the unique feature of the locality to both domestic and foreign visitors.</p>
<p>In addition, historical tourism has recently got noticed as the province has 11 national historical relic sites and nearly 50 sites at provincial level. The tourism sector will combine historical tourism tours with the introduction of the traditional culture and art of the ethnic minority groups in the southern region.</p>
<p>Calling for investments from businesses to build tourism infrastructure, organising famtrips and studying community-based tourism products in other provinces are parts of the province’s plan to make it become more attractive to visitors.</p>
<p>According to the department, last year, the province welcomed 1.3 million tourist arrivals and earned 340 billion VND (14.65 million USD) from tourism service, up 8 percent and 8.9 percent year on year, respectively.<br />

<p><strong>Nghe An (VNA)</strong> – The central province of Nghe An has attracted a great number of tourism development projects over the last four years, especially those in ecotourism, related to accommodation and infrastructure, and resort tourism.</p>
<p>As planned, local authorities will sign an investment agreement on February 23 with Asia Pacific Investment JSC to build a five-star hotel; as well as hand over a decision allowing the researching and planning of the Tan A Dai Thanh group’s Bai Lu 2 complex, which consists of villas, hotels, and an ecotourism area in Nghi Loc district.</p>
<p>The locality has paid heed to promoting its potential and strengths – namely in geographical location, cultural heritage, and natural resources – towards creating breakthrough development for its tourism sector. It hopes to gradually turn the sector into an economic spearhead, thus contributing to fostering its economic growth.</p>
<p>Nghe An is aiming to become one of the north central region’s tourism hubs, as well as one of the country’s most attractive destinations.</p>
<p>The locality is calling on strategic investors to join development projects for resorts, ecological tourism, luxury hotels, and shopping and entertainment centres.</p>
<p>Attention has been paid to raising public awareness of the importance of tourism development and orientating such planning towards sustainable, modern, and professional development.</p>

<p><span><span>The new decree prescribes 35 countries with citizens who are piloted for e-visas, including Austria, Iceland, Belgium, Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Qatar, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Croatia, Estonia, Fiji, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Macedonia, Micronesia, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, San Marino, Cyprus, Switzerland, China (applicable for Hong Kong and Macao passport holders and not applicable for China’s e-passport holders), Vanuatu, Western Samoa, Serbia and Slovenia. </span></span></p>
<p><span>In addition, international border gates Tay Trang in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien, Na Meo in the central province of Thanh Hoa, La Lay in the central province of Quang Tri, Duong Dong port in the southern province of Kien Giang and Chan May port in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue will are allowed to handle e-visas immigration. </span></p>
<p><span>So far, a total of 16 border gates and nine ports in Vietnam are allowed to grant e-visas at entry. The new decree will take effect in two years, starting from February 1, 2019.</span></p>

<div><strong>Hanoi (VNA) –</strong> A cherry blossom viewing festival opened at the Hoi An Impression Theme Park in Hoi An ancient city of the central province of Quang Nam on February 19.
<p>Aside from flower viewing, the three-day festival offers numerous activities to visitors, such as lanterns making, calligraphy and folk games.</p>
<p>Local specialties, including sweet desserts, are also served at the festival.</p>
<p>Especially, a large-scale outdoor visual art show entitled “Hoi An Memories” will take place at 7.30pm each night.</p>

<div><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – The Government recently issued a decree on amending and supplementing the list of foreign citizens eligible for e-visas and border gates that allow immigration by e-visas.
<p>Under Decree No.7/2017/ND-CP dated January 25, 2017, citizens from 40 countries are eligible for e-visas under a pilot programme.</p>
<p>The new decree, No.17/2019/ND-CP, on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Decree No.7 regulates that countries from 35 countries are eligible for the programme, including Austria, Iceland, Belgium, Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Qatar, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Croatia, Estonia, Fiji, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Macedonia, Micronesia, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, San Marino, Cyprus, Switzerland, China (applicable for Hong Kong and Macao passport holders and inapplicable for China’s e-passport holders), Vanuatu, Western Samoa, Serbia and Slovenia.</p>
<p>International border gates Tay Trang in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien, Na Meo in the central province of Thanh Hoa, La Lay in the central province of Quang Tri, Duong Dong port in the southern province of Kien Giang and Chan May port in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue will also allow immigration by e-visas.</p>
<p>Accordingly, a total of 16 border gates and nine ports in Vietnam will allow foreigners to enter the country with e-visas.</p>
<p>The new decree will take effect within two years, starting on February 1.-VNA</p>

<p>The provincial People’s Committee has issued a decision on the investment plan of the project, to be built in Vinh Hien and Loc Binh communes, Phu Loc district.</p>
<p>The project, with Van Phu Resort-Loc Binh Ltd., Co. as the main investor, is expected to be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2023, offering services of international standards.</p>

<p>Thua Thien-Hue, which is home to many UNESCO-recognized tangible and intangible heritages as well as beautiful beaches, aims to attract about 4.7 million visitors in 2019, with 45 percent foreigners, a rise of about 7 percent year on year.</p>
<p>The province targets VND 4.9 trillion (USD 210.7 million) in tourism revenue in the year, up 10 percent compared to the previous year.</p>
<p>In 2018, Thua Thien-Hue welcomed more than 4.3 million visitors, a rise of 14 percent, with the number of foreign visitors up 30 percent. Tourism revenue reached VND 4.47 trillion (USD 192 million), up 27.1 percent against 2017. Notably, Thua Thien-Hue was chosen as one of the most attractive destinations of Vietnam.</p>

<p>Throughout January, almost every 3 to 5 star hotel in the province operated at over 51 per cent of its capacity while 1 and 2 star hotels generally operated at 26 per cent.</p>
<p>Russian and Chinese tourists proved to be the main nationalities of foreign arrivals to Nha Trang. Services and food outlets that line the pedestrian streets of Nha Trang city enjoyed a profit due to the increasing demands of visitors.</p>
<p>Following a daytime tour, guests often flock to the pedestrian streets to go shopping and enjoy dinner. These streets are often packed with people between 6pm to 10pm every day.</p>
<p>During 2018, Nha Trang received over 2.8 million foreign tourists with Chinese visitors making up the biggest nationality of visitors, with over 1.8 million, followed by Russia, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Australia, and the United States.</p>
<p>Despite the positive growth in tourist numbers, overcharging tourists remains a popular practice among some establishments in the city during the Lunar New Year.</p>
<p>Restaurants that knowingly overcharge tourists are fined in accordance with the law, said representatives of local authorities, adding that heavy punishment could be imposed on such rouge eateries in the future.</p>
