The plan also sets a target that Mau Son will receive around 800,000 tourists by 2025, gaining a total revenue of more than VND 3.4 trillion (US$ 148.8 million) from tourism by 2030.
Under the plan, the Mau Son tourism site will cover 1,500 hectares across Mau Son commune in Loc Binh district, as well as Mau Son and Cong Son communes in Cao Loc district. The site, however, does not include four tourist attractions located in areas which hold joint patrols along the shared borderlines in Xuat Le and Mau Son communes, Cao Loc district.
The master plan focuses on maximising the site’s advantages regarding its favourable climate and natural landscapes while preserving and promoting cultural heritages of ethnic groups in the area.
It will be implemented in line with ensuring security and defence, preventing and controlling natural disasters, protecting the environment, reducing poverty and adapting to climate change.
The plan has identified distinctive tourism products for visitors, including spiritual and cultural tourism, ecotourism, and health and wellness tourism, aiming to make the tourism sector more professional and serving as a spearhead economic sector of the area.
