HA NOI (VNS) — Top Vietnamese female swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien won a bronze medal at the sixth CISM Military World Games in South Korea on October 7.
Vien finished third in the women’s 800m medley with a time of 8:39.41. China’s Zhang Yuhan took the gold medal with a time of 8:29.83, while Yuhan’s teammate Dong Fuwei got the silver medal.
It is the first time Vien has taken part in the Military Games.
However, Vien could not better her time of 8:34.85, set at the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in June.
Today (October 8), the southern Can Tho Province-born Vien has a day off to prepare for her next event, the 200m medley, on October 9.
Vien won seven gold medals at the eighth Asian Age Group Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 4.
Viet Nam are participating in six events of shooting, boxing, swimming and judo, besides taekwondo and volleyball in this multi-sport tournament, organised every four years, one year before the Olympic Games are organised. — VNS
