Cultural and tourism events attract visitors during Tet

Pen-brush opening is a tradition which has existed for thousands of years in Vietnam, when scholars and writers penned a line of prose or poetry to begin a new-year writing period.

The Nguyen Sinh Sac site, which worships President Ho Chi Minh’s father, in Cao Lanh city, Dong Thap province has welcomed over 100,000 visitors from home and abroad from January 28 to February 1, which falls on Vietnamese Tet (lunar New Year holiday).

The site’s managing board has organised a wide range of activities to entertain the visitors, including a photo and document display on Sac’s merits, an exhibition on traditional Vietnamese Tet celebrations in the past and at present, a rural market, a film screening on the Vietnamese Communist Party, and programme on promoting tourism in Dong Thap.

During the same period, the northern province of Quang Ninh has received over 800,000 tourists, an increase of 45% over the same period last year. The most visited tourist attractions in the province include Ha Long Bay, Yen Tu and Ba Vang pagodas.

Meanwhile, over 30,000 travellers have visited Dat Mui tourism site in the southernmost province of Ca Mau over the past four days, marking a good start for the local hospitality sector in the new year.

On the first days of spring, the tourism sector of An Giang province has greeted more than 627,000 holiday makers, earning more than VND 21 billion in revenue.
