The airline will operate four flights a week between the two destinations — every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday with flight time per leg being 3 hours and 30 minutes. The Ho Chi Minh City–Taichung flight takes off at 10:25 (local time) and lands at 14:45 (local time).
The return flight from Taichung departs at 15:45 (local time) and arrives in Ho Chi Minh City at 18:15 (local time).
At the ceremony for the airline’s maiden flight on the route at Taichung Airport, Chen Sheng-shan, head of the Tourism and Travel Bureau of Taichung, said the new route is VietJet Air’s fifth route to Taiwan and Taichung is its fourth destination on the island.
He said he hoped that with the new flights more international travelers will use Taichung Airport as the gateway to central Taiwan.
The new route’s air tickets are now available for booking from 12:00 to 14:00 at www.vietjetair.com (also compatible with smartphones at http://bit.ly/1BDdBzh) or at http://bit.ly/1zyybAq (just click the “Booking” tab) or via call to the national call center on 19001886 or at Vietjet ticketing offices nationwide.
Currently, Taichung Airport offers connections to other parts of Taiwan as well as to Hong Kong, Macau, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Viet Nam.
The new route aims to better meet the increasing demand for tourism and business travel between the two cities.
