The capital city welcomed 4 million foreign visitors, representing a year-on-year growth of 22.6% and handled 17.8 million of domestic visitors, up 8.4% against the same period in 2015.
Total tourism revenue rose by 13% to over VND 62 trillion thanks to numerous efforts to develop and improve special tourism products, according to the Director.
Especially, the city implemented a pilot project to organize walking streets around Sword Lake and deployed free-of-charge Wi-Fi hotspots at tourism sites.
In the coming time, the city will focus on defining its tourism brand name by initiating new special and competitive tourism products to promote local advantages such as culture and gastronomy.
In 2017, the department will cooperate with CNN to disseminate the image of Ha Noi in particular and Viet Nam in general to international friends.
Besides, an array of special events, including the annual conference of the Council for Promotion of Tourism in Asia (CPTA), the Viet Nam International Travel Mart (VITM), and the Viet Nam Traditional Craft Village Tourism Festival, will take place, according to Hong./.
