The conference aimed to share experiences in promoting growth, improving the quality of tourism in the City and as well measures to facilitate foreign travel companies build long-term mutually beneficial relationships with local agencies.
Most notably workers in the tourism and related travel and accommodation segments of the metropolitan economy lack even basic rudimentary foreign language skills to even communicate with visitors from countries such as the US, Russia, France or Japan.
As a result, 70% of all visitors to the City never return and the situation is not likely to turn around by wishful thinking, but instead requires proactive, innovative and creative leadership according to the delegates, which requires bold actions to rectify the situation.
Actions speak much louder than words and it will take much active and informed leadership to truly put the City on a path to become a top travel destination.
