The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has forecast the country would attract 9.7 million foreign tourist arrivals in 2016, thanks to continuing two-digit growth at markets.
Specifically, total foreign arrivals to the country from the start of the year to October reached 8.077 million, a year-on-year rise of 25.4%. Meanwhile, 53.3 million domestic arrivals were also provided services, with 24.8 million arrivals staying overnight, grossing a turnover of VND331.5 trillion, up 19.1% against the same period of last year.During the remaining months of this year, VNAT will organize various shows in nine cities in China and Spain to promote tourism, and participate in two tourism fairs in London and China, to further promote the country’s tourism.
In addition, the Administration will coordinate with localities, enterprises and associations to help central provinces recover tourism activities after marine environmental problems, organize two conferences to stimulate tourism demand in the central provinces and arrange two delegations to promote tourism in Thailand.
It also submitted overall schemes for tourism development in the Mekong Delta and schemes to develop national tourism areas for approval, summarize National Tourism Year 2016 and prepare for the event in 2017.
In an effort to attract more foreign tourists, Vietnam will also grant e-visas to foreigners, starting on January 1st, 2017. The new e-visas will be valid for 30 days. Tourists who apply for an e-visa will not need an invitation letter or a letter of guarantee from Vietnam.
VNAT will launch a new website to promote Vietnam tourism abroad during World Travel Market, which is being held in London from November 7th to 9th./.
