New gastronomy and entertainment programs at Dam Sen and Van Thanh

Dam Sen Park and Van Thanh Tourist Site, the food and entertainment services units under Saigontourist in HCMC, have put on programs for guests.

To create a meaningful playground to and take care of 1,000 orphans from shelters for the disabled in town, Dam Sen Park has joined hands with the Friends’ Club and the HCMC Charity Women Association to hold a “Smiles on the full-moon night” program on Saturday with exciting activities for kids. There will be a music show featuring singing, dancing, fashion show, and magic acts, and gifts for young visitors from 5 p.m. to 7:20 p.m.

A ceremony to mark the Full-Moon Festival with the presence of over 1,000 kids will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Ngoi Sao Stage, Au Lac Square, and Phuong Nam water area. Those children will receive lanterns and candles to parade in a procession of old vehicles and sing jubilant songs of the Mid-Autumn Festival and enjoy mooncakes together.

The organizer will also host an exhibition of 150 vintage vehicles at Au Lac Square at 5 p.m. Especially, those vehicles will carry kids from their charitable homes to the park to attend the big event.

On the occasion, Dam Sen will hold a Mid-Autumn parade with popular cartoon characters at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

A giant lantern which is five meters high and made by local artisans and engineers will be unveiled at the park. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover interesting stories about the Mid-Autumn Festival on six sides of the lantern and to take pictures with this artwork. From September 11 to 15, the park will be turn into a miniature of the ancient town of Hoi An with hundreds of colorful lanterns.

Children and parents to the park can enjoy a circus play “Wild Africa” which features fire dance and acrobatic performances in the air and photo shoots with animal actors like python, bear, monkey, goat and crocodile at three different show times — 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

“Legend of the Moon” play and “Children of Dragon” puppetry show and children music performance and unicorn dance and folk games will be respectively held at the location.

Van Thanh will host a buffet of over 50 cuisines of the three regions of Vietnam, accompanied with circus, comedy and music shows at 5 p.m. on September 15 or the Mid-Autumn Festival which falls on the fifteen day of the eighth lunar month. Kids have their time to play folk games and receive gifts, and join in a lantern parade with Moon Man and Moon Fairy. Tickets are priced at VND270,000 per adult and VND150,000 per kid.
