Super selfie project launched to promote tourist destinations

The project was deployed from August 8 to December 31, 2016 in destinations considered symbolic sites of Vietnamese tourism such as West Lake in Hanoi, Nguyen Hue Street in Ho Chi Minh City and My Khe beach in Da Nang.

Hanoi will be the first city to implement the project, from August 20 to September4. The photo capture position is Thanh Nien Street, in front of Tran Quoc Pagoda. An automatic camera allows visitors to take selfie photos covering a panorama of Truc Bach and West Lakes.

It uses a super high definition camera and cellphone technology to take photos. Pcture takers can download an application from VNTRIP to their mobile phone, which then connects with the camera placed at 100 meters.

The project will be implemented in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. The organising board is expected to launch the project in other destinations across the country in 2017 if it receives positive responses.

‘Super selfie’ is inspired by the GIGA selfie of Australia project to attract Japanese travelers, which saw great success last September in the country.

GIGA selfie allows tourists to take a photo that includes a generous part of the landscape in which it is located. It works with an app that allows taking pictures with a high quality cameras that are located in certain tourist spots in the country. For the app to work, people should settle in a specific place and operate the camera from a distance with their phone.
