The Hanoitimes – The international hot air balloon festival 2016 kicked off in Hue city in the central Thua Thien-Hue province on May 4. The event which runs through May 5, is part of the 9th Hue Festival.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Dung said the festival brings a breath of fresh air to the 2016 Hue Festival and the locality’s tourism industry.
The two-day event is being attended by pilots and balloonists from 9 countries including Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, India, the United Kingdom and Vietnam.
It features hot air balloons of 25 metres in height and 18 metres in width, offering an aerial view of Hue imperial city from a height of 150 metres.
Vietjet hot-air balloon is the only representative of Vietnam to participate in the international hot-air balloon demonstration 2016.
During the first day of the event, Vietjet hot-air balloon with the dimensions of 25 meters high, 18 meters wide and flight distance of 5 km, maximum altitude of 150m performed flights serving visitors with panoramic view from altitude above the city of Hue.
The show takes place from 5:30 am to 8:00 am and from 17:00 pm to 18:30 pm with balloons taking off at Ham Nghi Yard in the Citadel and landing in separate locations in Phu My commune of Phu Vang district, Tu Ha ward of Huong Tra district and Huong Long ward of Hue city.
