Cat Bi International Airport inaugurated

The expansion started in March, 2013 with the total capital of over VND3.600 trillion (around US$171.4 million), including the registered capital of VND1.5 trillion ($70.2 million) which is deducted from Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV)’s development fund.

The upgrade will allow the airport to receive 2 million passengers and accommodate larger aircrafts such as the B747, B777-300, B777-200 and A321.

On the inaugural day, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines launched two flights using wide-body airplanes, including 19 Boeing 787 and 14 Airbus A350 on route Ho Chi Minh City-Hai Phong .

Three carriers, Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Jetstar Pacific have currently operated 36 daily flights connecting Hai Phong with Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Buon Ma Thuot, Cam Ranh, and Pleiku.
