PANO – The working delegation of the national steering board for the search of and repatriation of martyr remains (also known as the National Steering Board 1237), led by Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, Senior Lieutenant General Phuong Minh Hoa on March 8th visited Nong Khai Province, Thailand.
The delegates laid wreaths and offered incense at the graves of 11 soldiers buried in a cemetery in Phon Phisai district, Nong Khan Province.
These soldiers sacrificed their lives while transporting weapons, ammunition, and food from a war zone in Thailand to serve the resistance war against the French colonists. They were first buried in Phoxay pagoda and later on reburied in the cemetery by the Association of Overseas Vietnamese in Phon Phisai.
During the visit, General Hoa inquired after and thanked the Overseas Vietnamese community in the locality for taking good care of the these graves and expressed delight at the great unity of the community. The general reaffirmed that Vietnamese residents are important contributors to the development of the Vietnam-Thailand relationship.
