Syria ceasefire not fully implemented

(VOVworld) – On Monday, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said the ceasefire, which came into force on February 27, covers only one third of Syrian territory.

Erdogan said he hopes it will be expanded to encompass the whole nation. Speaking at a joint press conference in Abidjan with the Ivory Coast President, Erdogan said attacks are still occurring in parts of Syria.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said the ceasefire is largely holding, despite some violations.

Meanwhile, Turkish broadcaster NTV reported that the Turkish army fired 50 to 60 artillery rounds into Syrian territory as part of the anti-Islamic State campaign of the US-led coalition.
