Hanoi Redtours said it had arranged domestic and outbound tours for almost 2,500 guests during the holiday, surging 30% against last Tet.

Nguyen Quynh Mai, head of the operation department at Hanoi Redtours, was cited by the Vietnam News Agency as saying that the company wooed more guests this year as it had launched an array of Tet tours to key destinations in Vietnam, Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, Dubai, the Americas and Europe.

Mai said Hanoi Redtours posted sharp rises in group bookings for its outbound tours from February 6 to 14.

On the home front, the company attracted many guests to its tours taking in seaside sites such as the central city of Nha Trang and Phu Quoc Island off mainland Kien Giang Province; northeastern and northwestern regions; and pagodas in different parts of the country.

Saigontourist Travel Service Co. reported good tour sales with more than 39,000 customers served during the peak travel period. The figure represented an increase of 20% against last Tet, with domestic tours accounting for 55% of the total.

The country’s leading travel firm arranged tours for foreign tourists who arrived by air and sea to explore Vietnam’s Tet culture and enjoyed the festive atmosphere of this special occasion across the country.

A large number of people booked tours to heritage and historical sites, and seaside resorts during the holiday from February 6 to 14. Data of travel firms indicated thousands of Vietnamese traveled to other ASEAN countries, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Europe, Dubai, the United States, Australia and India.

Chartered flights bring many foreign tourists to Danang, Nha Trang

* Foreign tourists to Danang and Nha Trang by air, especially on board chartered flights, have jumped over the past days as more than 350 flights have transported tens of thousands of visitors to the central coastal cities.

Data of the Danang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism showed that at least 175 flights brought a total of 18,870 foreign visitors to Danang from February 6 to yesterday, which marked the end of the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet) in Vietnam, rising by 29% year-on-year. Most of the chartered flights were operated from China and South Korea.

During the holiday, Vietnam Airlines conducted chartered flights between China and Danang. Earlier, the airline operated chartered flights from some localities of China to Danang.

Nha Trang City in Khanh Hoa Province also saw many foreigners arriving on board chartered flights during the Tet holiday.

The Khanh Hoa Province Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said around 182 flights carried tourists from Russia, South Korea and China to Nha Trang City from February 8 to February 14. Of them, some 140 flights were conducted from Kunming, Chengdu, Beijing, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Zhejiang and Guangzhou cities of China.

During the longest holiday in Vietnam, around 35 chartered flights were arranged for Russian visitors by Pegas Touristik, Focus, Anex and Nhat Minh companies. In addition, there were a number of chartered flights from Hong Kong and South Korea.

According to the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the province welcomed more than 160,000 tourists during Tet, up nearly 10% against the previous holiday, with international tourists up 12.2% to 36,196.

Khanh Hoa Province reported tourism services revenue of VND303.85 trillion in the period, up by 14.5% year-on-year, according to Tuoi Tre newspaper.

Meanwhile, Danang attracted more than 212,000 visitors during the nine-day holiday, a 16.5% pickup over the same period of last year.

Thua Thien-Hue Province, which is one of the most attractive localities in central Vietnam, has welcomed more than 85,000 visitors over the past nine days, up 14% compared to last Tet. The number included 45,000 international guests.
