HA NOI (VNS) — Cyclist Nguyen Hoang Giang of Loc Troi Group took the yellow jersey on the first stage of the Ben Tre Television Cup yesterday.
Giang clocked a top speed of 42.6 kmh during the 127km stage from Ben Tre City to Lap Vo District in Dong Thap Province, which he completed in 2:58.53.
Vo Thanh Tan of of Vinh Long and Tran Thanh Nhanh of VUS-HCM City were the runners-up.
Veteran Le Van Duan of VUS-HCM City claimed the green jersey as best sprinter with five points.
In the team rankings, Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap 1 took the lead with a combined time of 8:56.47, followed by Loc Troi Group and VUS-HCM City.
Today, cyclists will face the 128km second leg from Long Xuyen City in An Giang Province to Rach Gia City in Kien Giang Province.
The event has attracted 75 racers from 15 teams nationwide, competing across seven stages via 12 provinces in the Mekong Delta. — VNS
