HA NOI (VNS) — Coach Toshyia Miura added midfielder Luong Xuan Truong of Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) into the national U23 team yesterday for the final round of the 2016 Asian U23 Football Championship in Qatar.
Out of the 30-member team, HAGL contributed seven players including Nguyen Cong Phuong and Nguyen Phong Hong Duy.
The 20-year-old Truong is praised for his vision, passing and free-kick ability in the International U21 Football Tournament which wrapped up in HCM City on Sunday.
Truong was called up to the U23 training camp in February for 2016 AFC U23 Championship qualification but was returned to his club later as the injury he suffered prior the training was much more serious than expected.
The team gathered yesterday in Ha Noi and they will have three friendly matches against Japanese clubs before Miura shortlists his team to 23 and leaves for Qatar. — VNS
