14th national singing contest for students to be launched

<p>PANO – The 14th National Singing Contest for Students will be held for students from 18-28 years old in the three regions of Vietnam, as announced at a press briefing by the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET); the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union on November 24th in Hanoi.</p>

<p>Accordingly, the Northern region’s qualifying round will be organized at the Hanoi University of Construction from November 24th to 29th, while the Central region’s qualifying round will be held from December 1st to 5th at Da Nang University. Finally the Southern region’s round will be held from December 9th to 14th at the Ho Chi Minh College of Culture, Arts and Tourism.</p>
<p>Speaking at the press briefing, Head of MoET’s Department of Students Affairs Ngu Duy Anh held that the biennial contest aims to create a useful playing ground, improve aesthetic education and encourage the arts at schools for students.</p>
<p>At the final, the organizing panel will present two first, two second, and four third prizes to participating teams, as well as 20 gold, 25 silver and 40 bronze medals to the best performances.</p>

Khmer people’s Ok Om Bok festival celebrated in Tra Vinh

<p>(VOVworld) – Many activities are scheduled to celebrate ethnic Khmer people’s Ok-Om-Bok (worshiping the moon) festival in southern Tra Vinh province from November 20 to 25. A fair on trade, industry and agriculture takes place as part of the festival at the province’s Culture Center. It is intended to promote trade and establish business links between enterprises from Tra Vinh and other localities, paving the way for local economic development and expanding export markets.</p>

<p>Du Ke, a style of musical theater created by Khmer people in the early 1920s, also takes to the stage during the fair. The province will host “ngo” boat (local traditional boat) races between teams from local districts and communes on November 24. A motor racing event will be organised by the Vietnam Federation of Bicycle and Motorbike Sports the next day. Additionally, a fair of signature products by Khmer people is held in Ao Ba Om (Madam Om Pond) historical and cultural relic site in Tra Vinh, alongside many other sport events and folk games. A ceremony to celebrate the Ok-Om-Bok festival will take place on late November 25, featuring a moon-offering ritual performed by Khmer’s Anh Binh Minh arts troupe to thank God for favorable weather and bountiful crops. Ok-Om-Bok is one of the three main festivals – along with Sene Dolta and Chol Chnam Thmay – that Khmer people celebrate every year and take place under the full moon in the 10th lunar month. The Khmer believe the moon is a God who controls the weather and crops throughout the year. Each village organizes their own festival in the courtyards of their local pagodas, while the large provincial festival is held at Ba Om pond cultural relic site. The festival features a number of entertainment opportunities, including art performances, traditional sports challenges and folk games. According to the Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Tra Vinh is home to about 310,000 ethnic Khmer people. They make up 31 percent of the local population.</p>

<p>PANO – The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports on November 24th received 161 cherry trees from the Friendship Association of Fukushima prefecture, Japan.</p>
<p>After the handover ceremony, several of the trees were planted at the Thang Long Citadel Complex.</p>
<p>The others will be planted at several places in the city, such as the spiral-shaped Co Loa citadel, the Hanoi Museum and the Hoa Binh Park.</p>
<p>Since the establishment of friendship ties 25 years ago, Hanoi and Fukushima have carried out cooperation in various fields, especially cultural exchanges.</p>
<p>The presence of cherry trees – the renowned Japanese symbol in Hanoi is to foster the friendly bilateral ties between Hanoi and Fukushima and help Hanoians learn more about cultural identities of Japan.</p>

<p>HA NOI (VNS) — <a href="#">Viet Nam</a>‘s Nguyen Thi Lan has won a bronze medal at the Jujitsu World Championships in Thailand on November 23.</p>
<p>Lan claimed the third position in the women’s 70kg category.</p>
<p>The tournament drew 500 competitors from 43 countries and territories in the world.</p>
<p>“The medal will inspire Vietnamese players at future events, especially the Asian Beach Games in Da Nang next year,” Do Ngoc Hung, the Viet Nam team leader, said.</p>
<p>Jujitsu, which originated in Japan, has gained popularity in recent years. Although it is not part of the Asian Games, jujitsu has become an official event at some other international tournaments such as the Asian Beach Games. — VNS</p>

<p>The Japan-originated Jujitsu has developed strongly in recent years. Although it hasn’t been listed at the Asian Games (ASIAD), it became an official event at some other international sports tournaments, including the Asian Beach Games (ABG).</p>
<p>The Vietnam Jujitsu team is gearing up its training and preparation for the ABG 2016 to be held in Danang, Vietnam.</p>

<p>SAINT PETERBURG: Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg extended their winning streak in the Champions League to five games with a 2-0 win over Spanish high-flyers Valencia on Tuesday (Nov 24).</p>
<p>Goals by Oleg Shatov and Artem Dzyuba ensured the Saint Petersburg outfit, who had already qualified for the knock-out rounds, will top Group H.</p>
<p>Zenit, who had won their opening group match 3-2 in Valencia, sat back from the kick-off, giving up possession and threatening on the counter-attack.</p>
<p>In the 15th minute, Dzyuba received Hulk’s pass from the left and helped the ball on to Shatov, who escaped the offside trap before shooting home from close range.</p>
<p>Valencia, who could have secured a last 16 spot with victory, poured forward in search of an equaliser.</p>
<p>However, the visitors lacked accuracy in picking out striker Paco Alcacer with long-range passes.</p>
<p>After the interval Zenit, spurred on by a capacity 21,000 crowd, moved up a gear pinning Valencia back.</p>
<p>Argentinian full back Ezequiel Garay missed a clear chance to increase Zenit’s lead in the 58th minute when he headed inches wide from Hulk’s corner.</p>
<p>Valencia’s second-half substitute Santi Mina had the ball in the net in the 67th minute but his strike was ruled out for offside.</p>
<p>In the 74th minute, Zenit skipper Miguel Danny played a one-two with Shatov before finding the unmarked Dzyuba, who found the back of the net to secure victory.</p>
<p>Valencia’s slight hopes to save the day went up in smoke with 10 minutes to go when their Portuguese full back Ruben Vezo was sent off for a professional foul on Shatov.</p>

<p>PARIS: FIFA’s ethics watchdog wants Michel Platini banned for life over a suspect payment, the European football chief’s lawyer told AFP on Tuesday (Nov 24).</p>
<p>The FIFA vice president is already serving a 90-day suspension while an investigation is held into a US$2 million sum he received from FIFA president Sepp Blatter who is also suspended.</p>
<p>Platini’s lawyer Thibaud d’Ales revealed the FIFA’s life ban demand which he described as a “scandal” and “excessive”. “This ban is subject to the proof of corruption, but the punishment is clearly excessive,” D’Ales said. “It’s not based on anything in the case.”</p>
<p>Blatter’s representatives refused to comment on whether the same request has been made against the Swiss official.</p>
<p>FIFA’s investigatory chamber announced Monday that it has opened a case against Blatter and Platini and that it was aiming to announce a decision next month.</p>
<p>Until then Platini, the president of UEFA, is forbidden to take part in the race to become Blatter’s successor as president of FIFA.</p>
<p>He is one of five official candidates to run football’s scandal-hit ruling body with the election scheduled for February 26.</p>
<p>D’Ales maintained there was a concerted effort inside FIFA to prevent Platini taking over the top job in football. The 60-year-old French football legend had been favourite for the FIFA post until the latest charges were announced.</p>
<p>The lawyer commented: “I’m wondering if the person in charge of the investigation shouldn’t be called instead ‘the person in charge of eliminating Michel Platini’ from the FIFA presidency?</p>
<p>“It’s a pure scandal, and by making it public there’s clearly an intention to cause harm. The masks are slipping one by one at FIFA – the electoral timetable’s being manipulated and there’s a strategy to get rid of Platini as a candidate.”</p>
<p>FIFA’s investigative committee affirmed that the report with requested sanctions had been handed over to Platini and Blatter’s legal team.</p>
<p>“I can confirm that Michel Platini and his lawyers have got the report and they have also received the request of the investigative committee,” spokesman Andreas Bantel told AFP, without reference to the sanction demanded.</p>
<p>“They know what is in the report and they are free to comment on it,” he added.</p>
<p>On Saturday, FIFA’s ethics committee, citing privacy and the presumption of innocence, said it would not disclose the nature of the punishments requested against Platini and Blatter.</p>
<p>Swiss prosecutors said in October that Blatter is under criminal investigation for mismanagement at FIFA. Platini was named in the investigation, but is not yet a suspect, over a two million Swiss franc (US$2 million) payment made by FIFA in 2011 for work he did a decade earlier.</p>
<p>Blatter has said the two had an “oral contract” for the payment and that this is allowed under Swiss law and FIFA regulations.</p>
<p>Appeals by both Blatter and Platini against their 90-day suspensions were rejected last week, and Platini has taken his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, with a decision expected soon.</p>

<p>Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee has promulgated the implementation Plan of cultural diplomatic activities 2016 in the province area.</p>
<p>The department of Foreign Affairs is assigned to coordinate with concerned departments and sectors and People’s Committees of districts and city in implementing the Strategy on cultural diplomacy through 2020; elaborate and implement annual plans on cultural diplomacy in line with the Strategy and socio-economic development plans; and guide, inspect, supervise and review the implementation of the plan.</p>
<p>The department of Culture, Sports and Tourism shall coordinate with the department of Foreign Affairs and other concerned departments and sectors in organizing and implementing cultural diplomacy activities and the national promotion program within its competence according to annual plans and the Strategy on cultural diplomacy through 2020.</p>
<p>Other departments, agencies and government-attached units, according to their respective functions and tasks, implement the Strategy on cultural diplomacy through 2020 within the scope of their competence; coordinate with the department of Foreign Affairs and other departments and agencies in implementing cultural diplomacy tasks and send annual reports to the department of Foreign Affairs.</p>
<p>Besides, it’s necessary to implement specific plans and activities to promote the image of Quang Ngai province and Vietnamese land, people and culture with messages about a nation with a diversify culture and glorious history, creative-friendly and peace-loving people. At the same time, to further introduce the Vietnamese people through the images of national heroes, cultural celebrities as well as typical beautiful characteristics of Vietnamese people.</p>
<p>District-level People’s Committees carry out cultural diplomatic activities in their respective localities according to their competence; draw up and implement annual plans on cultural diplomacy in accordance with the Strategy on cultural diplomacy through 2020 and local socio-economic development plans in the same period.</p>

The 11th Phu Dong Sport Festival 2015 concludes

<p>The 11<sup>th</sup> Phu Dong Health Festival attracted more than 5,400 students representing for over 210,600 students in the province.</p>
<p>They competed in 09 events including football, volleyball, badminton, athletics, basketball, gymnastics, aerobic, etc.</p>
<p>With great achievements, the provincial Ethnic Boarding High School led the top in medal list of high-school block.</p>
<p>Besides, the organization board also awarded 09 prizes to excellent collectives and individuals for their great results at the Festival.</p>

Two Vietnamese teams to face off in int’l football tournament semis

<p><strong>Hoang Anh Gia Lai U-21s yesterday beat Myanmar 4-3 in Group B of the 9th International Thanh Nien Newspaper U-21 Football Tournament and will take on the Vietnamese national U-21 team in the semis on Thursday.</strong></p>

<p>However, the score was level inside the first half thanks to the brilliance of midfielders Tuan Anh and Xuan Truong.</p>
<p>Tuan Anh set up striker Cong Phuong in a favorable position to score the first goal for Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Xuan Truong helped Van Toan net the second after two fantastic long passes.</p>
<p>In the second half, Hoang Anh Gia Lai scored two more goals before Myanmar narrowed the gap to 4-3 in the final minutes.</p>
<p>In Group A, Vietnam U-21s defeated Singapore U-21s 2-1.</p>
<p>Earlier, Vietnam beat Thailand 4-2 on Sunday and Thailand drew 2-2 with Singapore.</p>
<p>The U-21 tournament, organized from November 20 to 29, included six teams divided into two groups of three.</p>
<p>Thailand and Myanmar were eliminated from the group stage.</p>

<p>Participants have chance to enjoy exciting performances with Running Man – Haha, OST queen Baek Ji Young, Comedian Jung Jun Ha, the Nolza, Lee Jung, Vietnamese singers Minh Hang and Thanh Duy.</p>
<p>Organized by the Viet Nam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with Korean Embassy in Viet Nam and Korean Community in Ha Noi, the sponsors of this year’s festival include Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corp (aT), Korea Project on International Agriculture (KOPIA), Korean Cultural Center in Viet Nam, Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and KAFDA.</p>
<p>According to Mr Ko Sang Goo, Head of Korean Community in Ha Noi, apart from enjoying the typical cuisines from both nations like Tteokbokki, Gimbap, Kimchi, Vietnamese kebab rice noodles, “pho”, and spring roll; beautiful performances such as artistic performances, big games, Korean cartoon show… are also available.</p>
<p>Besides, the Korean Cultural Center in Viet Nam is being organized a “Korea – Viet Nam talent competition” from November 23rd – 29th, thus creating a forum for young people who interested in the Korean art and culture to demonstrate their talents and express their love to Korea by sending short clips.</p>
<p>Since it first session in 2008, this annual festival has become a “spiritual food” expected by Korean wave (hallyu) fans, as well as an attractive place for consumers to taste both Korean and Vietnamese agricultural products via 100 registered kiosk./.</p>

Viet Nam’s Northwest seeks tourism aid from HCM City

<p>As an economic and tourism hub in the country, HCM City plays a vital role in the development of tourism in the northwestern region, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said.</p>

<p>The city administration needs to offer more incentives to encourage tourism enterprises and investors to cooperate with localities in the northwest region, Phuc, who is also head of the Northwest Steering Committee, told a conference held in HCM City on November 23 to promote investment in tourism in the northwest.</p>
<p>It attracted officials from HCM City and 14 provinces in the northwestern region as well as inbound and outbound travel agents and tourism investors in HCM City.</p>
<p>Phuc urged the city to foster cooperation with the northwest to develop tourism linkages, promote images of the region and its potential to possible investors, and provide training in tourism.</p>
<p>“The northwest has huge potential for tourism, but it has yet to be effectively exploited in a sustainable manner.”</p>
<p>The region is home to more than 30 ethnic groups, a slew of tangible and intangible cultural heritages and famous historical sites and imposing landscapes, he said.</p>
<p>Yet tourism accounts for an insignificant part of the region’s economy due to poor infrastructure and lack of sophisticated products and professional tourism operators, he said.</p>
<p>Last year the region received 8.7 million tourists, including 1.5 million foreign nationals, while the country received 7.8 million international arrivals, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.</p>
<p>Phuc called on the northwestern provinces to consider offering incentives to attract investors in infrastructure, particularly transport, hotels, and eco-tourism projects, and develop specific tourism products and human resource training in tourism.</p>
<p>The region has 12 areas earmarked for development under the national strategy on tourism development in the period through 2020, including the Dong Van Karst Plateau, Ban Gioc Falls, Mau Son, Ba Be Lake, Tan Trao, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh Reservoir.</p>
<p>Four national tourist attractions that feature in the strategy are Lao Cai City (Lao Cai Province), Pac Po historical site (Cao Bang Province), Lang Son City (Lang Son Province and Mai Chau District (Hoa Binh Province).</p>
<p>HCM City is a key tourist market for other localities in the country, Nguyen Thanh Phong, Deputy Secretary of the city Party Committee, said.</p>
<p>The city has signed agreements with 53 cities and provinces, including four in the northwest: Bac Kan, Lang Son, Phu Tho and Ha Giang.</p>
<p>It would carry out various measures to strengthen tourism cooperation with northwestern localities, Phong said.</p>

Lan bags bronze medal at World Jujitsu Championship

<p>(VOV) – Nguyen Thi Lan has won a bronze medal at the World Jujitsu Championship held in Thailand recently.</p>
<p>The tournament drew 500 competitors from 43 countries and territories in the world.</p>
<p>Leader of the Vietnam team Do Ngoc Hung said the medal will inspire Vietnam to further invest in the sports.</p>

<p>About 10 minutes later Hoang Anh Gia Lai leveled the score with a perfect header by Nguyen Cong Phuong, who will compete in Japan next year.</p>
<p>Mg Mg Lwin pushed his team ahead for the second time with a banana-shaped kick that went out of Tien’s reach.</p>
<p>Goal hunter Nguyen Van Toan brought the game to a tie some minutes later. He broke the off-side trap before leaving goalie Phone Thitsar Min behind to shoot it in.</p>
<p>The second half of the game totally went to the defending champions as they set up strong domination and pocketed two more goals by substitutes Kim Hung and Tran Minh Vuong.</p>
<p>Myanmar captain Htike Htike Aung narrowed the result in the extra time from a free kick.</p>
<p>Goalie Tien dropped the wet ball which went straight to the net.</p>
<p>With the win Hoang Anh Gia Lai stand second in the Group B on three points.</p>

Recognising Van Mieu doctoral steles as a national treasure

<p><i>The Hanoitimes</i> – The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports held a ceremony on November 23 to announce the recognition of collection of 82 doctoral laureate steles at Hanoi’s Van Mieu – Temple of Literature as a national treasure.</p>
<p>The 82 stone steles are carved with the names of those who passed royal doctoral examinations between 1484 and 1780 under the Early Le, Mac and Late Le dynasties.</p>
<p>The stone slabs are placed on the backs of stone tortoises, symbolising longevity and permanence.</p>
<p>These stone steles can be considered as a unique sculptural work reflecting a great value of sculpture throughout the history of Vietnam.</p>
<p>Each composition engraved on the steles is highly regarded for its remarkable literature valuable in terms of art and ideology.</p>

<p>The steles were recognised by UNESCO as a world documentary heritage in the Asia-Pacific region in March 2010 and on a global scale in July 2011.</p>
<p>Head of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports To Van Dong said that the recognition is an honour to Hanoi, but it also requires local authorities to do more to preserve and promote the heritage’s cultural value.</p>
<p>On the occasion, the department held an exhibition featuring 100 documents and artifacts on the doctoral steles in Hanoi, the ancient imperial city of Hue, and the northern provinces of Hung Yen and Bac Ninh.</p>

Vietnam’s disabled athletes head for ASEAN Para Games

<p><em>A delegation of 130 Vietnamese athletes with disabilities will participate in the 8th ASEAN Para Games in Singapore from December 3-9, heard a press conference on November 24 in Hanoi.</em></p>
<p>The athletes will compete in nine events, including track-and-field, swimming, weight-lifting, badminton, chess, table tennis, football, boccia, and rowing.</p>
<p>The delegation set a target of topping the rankings at this competition, toward conquering the 2016 World Paralympic Games in Brazil, said Vu The Phiet, head of the delegation.</p>
<p>The Vietnam Paralympic support foundation (PARASPORT Vietnam) pledged to provide financial support worth 150 million VND (67,000 USD) for the delegation.</p>
<p>The ASEAN Para Games is a biannual multi-sport event held after every Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) for ASEAN athletes with physical disabilities. The games are participated by the countries located in Southeast Asia , including Brunei , Cambodia , Indonesia , Laos , Malaysia , Myanmar , the Philippines , Singapore , Thailand , and Vietnam .</p>
<p>The 8 th event held in Singapore is expected to host 3,000 officials and athletes competing in 15 sports.</p>

Viet Nam ready for Southeast Asia ParaGames

<p>HCM CITY (VNS) — A send-off ceremony for the national sport delegation headed for the Southeast Asian ParaGames will be organised in HCM City on November 26.</p>
<p>The Vietnamese athletes with disabilities will take part in nine out of 15 events which will be organised in Singapore from December 3 to 9.</p>
<p>The biggest number is in the track-and-field event with 37 competitors. There are 34 athletes in swimming and 11 in power-lifting.</p>
<p>Other events are chess, table tennis, badminton, and football 5-a-side, apart from boccia and sailing.</p>
<p>To prepare for the Games, athletes have been in training since early September in Ha Noi and HCM City.</p>
<p>“It is a ParaGames that our players have longest period of time for training with the most favourable conditions. Our target this year is as many new records in powerlifting and swimming as possible,” Vu The Phiet, deputy chairman of the Viet Nam Sports for People with Disabilities Association, said.</p>
<p>The eighth biennial sports festival of the region is expected to see about 1,500 athletes of 10 countries participating.</p>
<p>They will be staying at the Marina Bay Sand Hotel, which is also one of three competition venues.</p>
<p>Most of the events will be organised at the Singapore Sport Hub while sailing will be held at the Marina Bay.</p>
<p>The Vietnamese will depart on November 30.</p>
<p>In the previous edition in Myanmar, Viet Nam with 48 gold medals finished fourth in the medal tally.</p>

<p>Located along National Highway 14G in Tong Cooi Village, Ba Commune in Dong Giang, the museum of Y Kong, which is actually an area inside his home, is considered a rich and diverse cultural treasure of Co Tu people.</p>
<p>Now in his 80s, the old man retired from the post of village patriarch several years ago and has since collected and revived all tangible and intangible evidence that could help conserve Co Tu traditional cultural values. Now his small home is a de facto museum featuring Co Tu ethnic group’s culture.</p>
<p>Y Kong said in recent years, he has welcomed three to four groups of local and foreign tourists to his museum a week.</p>
<p>The small house of Y Kong is surrounded by a green garden. There are many Co Tu items and musical instruments such as flute, gong and drum.</p>
<p>Y Kong is also a living cultural heritage as he is one of a few Co Tu people who know how to play their traditional musical instruments, and who uphold the tradition and culture of his people.</p>
<p>There is even a wooden coffin he made for himself inside the house, a long-established tradition of Co Tu people.</p>
<p>In 2010, Y Kong spent over VND50 million (US$2,223) building a small stilt-house in front of his home to display the wooden statues hand-crafted by him.</p>
<p>“There were many statues on display in the stilt-house but tourists have bought most of them,” he said. These days, due to his weak hands, Y Kong just makes a couple of statues for display only.</p>
<p>Last year, Y Kong spent VND100 million building a coffee shop to serve tourists to his museum.</p>
<p>Normally, tourists come in groups of five to seven and ask Y Kong to perform folk songs of Co Tu people using traditional musical instruments, listen to his stories about Co Tu culture and see the statues he made.</p>
<p>Some groups even stay overnight and ask his family to serve traditional food and wine of Co Tu people at a cost of VND120,000 per person.</p>
<p>Over the past year, Y Kong said, nearly 200 groups of tourists from 40 countries have come to his museum.</p>
<p>However, the old man said the main purpose of offering services to tourists is to raise funds to promote and preserve the traditional culture of Co Tu people.</p>

<p><b>The Red River is the testament to Vietnam’s historical stages and the keeper of culture and customs of Vietnamese people. Therefore, the introduction of Red River tourist routes by boat is very meaningful for those who want to learn about the history and culture of Hanoi and Vietnam. If reasonably invested, this will be a new appealing tourism product.</b><b>Attractive spiritual cultural tours</b></p>
<p>Tourists will hear different names of places along the river, like Nam Sang in Nam Dinh or Thien Mac in Hung Yen where Tien Dung and Chu Dong Tu meet in a fairytale. The Red River runs through many northern provinces, ending in Thanh Hoa, and has many different names called by people in different localities like Thao and Nhi Ha. The Red River was named by Frenchmen when they ruled the country. Travelling on the river, you will feel new interesting experience when you stand in the middle of water currents in a charming landscape. You will have the chance to admire the beauty of ancient riverside temples and pagodas, explore people’s life along the river, visit Bat Trang pottery village, taste famous Anh Vu fish (in Phu Tho province), tour Van Phuc silk village (Thanh Tri district) or Ninh So rattan village.</p>
<p>Speaking at a seminar on “Survey on river travel products on Red River, Hanoi – Hung Yen,” travel operators agreed that the river landscape is very charming, particularly when boats pass beautiful bridges like Long Bien, Chuong Duong, Nhat Tan, Thanh Tri and Vinh Tuy. The most interesting experience is to sightsee and visit riverside temples and pagodas, a characteristic value of the Red River culture. In northern Vietnam, every village has communal houses, temples, brick kilns and rice paddies beside the river. This experience is totally different from overland tours.</p>
<p><b>Adequate investment needed</b></p>
<p>Despite having huge tourism potential, this route only serves 300,000 tourists a year, of which 20 – 30 percent are foreigners, while this is a very enchanting tour, particularly for foreigners, said Hanoi General Tour Corporation (GTC), which operates Red River tours. Currently, there is only one daily tour to Bat Trang pottery village and Ninh So rattan village. GTC hoped to be a bridge to bring tourists to Hung Yen, Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho from the river.</p>
<p>The poor result is attributed to various factors, including insufficient infrastructure and limited bar service, which is attractive to foreigners.</p>
<p>After the survey on Red River travel products, Hanoi – Hung Yen, Mr Nguyen Van Tuan, General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), said services on ships are not very good, citing that they do not offer local specialties and souvenirs of the Red River provinces. He noted that companies investing in Red River tourism development must optimise profitability by offering value added services.</p>
<p>Nguyen Quy Phuong, Director of the Travel Department, VNAT, stressed that river-way lacks investment for development, even with Hanoi. Therefore, media agencies should boost communication on river to raise the awareness of the government in the huge potential of the Red River. It is important to attract investors to build tourism ships and construct river ports for passenger transportation.</p>

<p>(TITC) – On Nov 7, at the Ly Thai To Flower Garden, the Ha Noi Department of Industry and Trade opened Ha Noi tourism promotion festival, attracting a large number of local citizens as well as domestic and international tourists.</p>

<p>The event was in a series of activities of Ha Noi Sales Promotion Month 2015 aiming to promote the image of city’s tourism sector to visitors.</p>
<p>The two-day event (7-8 Nov) features 46 pavilions representing 37 travel agencies, including big names as: Hanoi Tourist, UNESCO Ha Noi Travel Club, Vietjet Air and the Centre for Malaysia Tourism Promotion… offering many promotional programs, discount tours and discount airfares.</p>
<p>During the festival, over 500 tours and thousands of discounted flight tickets were available.</p>
<p>The festival was expected to give a boost to the tourism growth of Ha Noi in particular and Viet Nam in the year-end period.</p>

<p><strong>Three streets in central Ho Chi Minh City will be shut down on two separate days this week to serve a fire drill, and the municipal Department of Transport has published a detailed map of alternative routes to help people avoid the bottlenecks.</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://bit.ly/1lKrnNN"><img alt="1781691-amr5qbbw" class="attachment-medium aligncenter" height="295" rel="lightbox" src="http://bit.ly/1lKrnNN" width="500" /></a></p>
<p>The drill, whose rehearsal is scheduled for Thursday, will officially run on Saturday at Vincom B, a luxury apartment-trade center complex on Dong Khoi Street, District 1.</p>
<p>The emergency practice will be carried out based on a simulated situation that the Basement B3 of Vincom B catches fire due to a gas explosion in the food court, while a flat on the 26<sup>th</sup> floor also bursts into flames.</p>
<p>Some 2,000 people from the police, firefighting, healthcare, power supply and military units will join the drill to rescue 700 people involved in the serial fires and explosions, according to the transport department.</p>
<p>The rehearsal and official practice will both take place from 8:00 am to 10:30 am, during which parts of Dong Khoi, Ly Tu Trong and Le Thanh Ton Streets will be barricaded.</p>
<p>On Dong Khoi Street, roadblocks will be put on the section between the crossroads with Nguyen Du and Le Loi.</p>
<p>The part from the Ly Tu Trong-Pasteur and Ly Tu Trong-Hai Ba Trung crossroads, and between the Le Thanh Ton-Hai Ba Trung and Le Thanh Ton-Nguyen Hue intersections, will also be blocked.</p>
<p>The Department of Transport suggests the following alternative routes:</p>
<p><strong>For those who need to travel on Dong Khoi Street:</strong></p>
<p>Cong Xa Paris → Nguyen Du → Nam Ky Khoi Nghia → Ham Nghi → Ho Tung Mau → Vo Van Kiet → Ton Duc Thang</p>

<p>Pham Ngoc Thach → Le Duan → Hai Ba Trung → Cong Truong Lam Son → Dong Khoi</p>
<p><strong>For those who need to travel on Ly Tu Trong Street:</strong></p>

<p>Or:</p>

<p>The 5,999,999th and 6,000,001th passengers, Le Duy Hiep of Transimex Saigon – Huu Nghi Joint Stock Company and Nguyen Van Tuan of Song Thu Mechanical Joint Stock Company, were also offfered pairs of return Business Class tickets on domestic flights of Vietnam Airlines.</p>
<p>The event marks the moment when the airport has exploited its maximum design capacity of six million passengers per year, said Deputy Director of Da Nang International Airport To Ngoc Hai.</p>
