PANO – The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports on November 24th received 161 cherry trees from the Friendship Association of Fukushima prefecture, Japan.
After the handover ceremony, several of the trees were planted at the Thang Long Citadel Complex.
The others will be planted at several places in the city, such as the spiral-shaped Co Loa citadel, the Hanoi Museum and the Hoa Binh Park.
Since the establishment of friendship ties 25 years ago, Hanoi and Fukushima have carried out cooperation in various fields, especially cultural exchanges.
The presence of cherry trees – the renowned Japanese symbol in Hanoi is to foster the friendly bilateral ties between Hanoi and Fukushima and help Hanoians learn more about cultural identities of Japan.
