The 4th international puppetry festival will take place in Hanoi from October 10th to 16th, drawing the participation of ten countries. (Photo: Thang Long puppetry theatre) The delegations come from Vietnam, Russia, the UK, Germany, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Belgium and the Philippines. Mr Nguyen Dang Chuong, Head of the Performing Arts Department under the Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that a new feature of this year’s event is that besides competing performances, participating troupes will perform in the northern provinces of Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hai Duong and Vinh Phuc and Thanh Hoa province in the central region. He added that the three Vietnamese puppetry groups taking part in the event were Vietnam puppetry theatre, Thang Long water puppetry theatre and Hai Phong puppetry troupe. The opening ceremony taking place at Hanoi Opera House (No 1 Trang Tien street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi) will be broadcast live at 20h00 on the National Assembly Television channel, while the closing ceremony (also at 20h00) will be hosted by Vietnam puppetry theatre, No 361 Truong Chinh road, Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi./.
