National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines Tuesday started using a new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for services between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The aircraft, the first of 19 787-9 Dreamliners ordered by Vietnam Airlines, was added to its fleet on Sunday.
The carrier said it has become the first airline in Asia-Pacific to take delivery and put into service both the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and the Airbus A350-900 XWB.
After being used for domestic flights, the new Dreamliner will serve the direct service from Hanoi/HCMC to London in September.
The second Dreamliner is scheduled for delivery this month.
The airline plans to have a total 19 Dreamliners and 14 XWBs by 2019.
