The Hanoitimes – Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao signed a decision on July 28 to establish a Tourism Department separate from the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Hanoi Tourism Department will be headquartered at 17 Dien Bien Phu street, Dien Bien ward, Ba Dinh district, and will have one director and three deputy directors.
The structure of the department includes a general office, an inspectorate, a travel management office, an accommodation office and a planning, research and development office.
The department will function as a consultative agency, helping the city’s People’s Committee manage tourism activities and carry out assigned tasks.
The new department is also tackling measures to preserve, use and develop tourism resources, sites and the environment.
It also has a responsibility to come up with plans and tourism promotion programmes and hold fairs, conferences and exhibitions approved by the city.
