A conference on south central coastal region’s tourism development was held by Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism in Da Nang city on May 26.

The conference took place under theme of “Strategy on coastal south central region’s tourism development until 2020, and vision towards 2030″

Coastal south central region includes Da Nang city, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan, covering 44, 377 square kilometers.

According to city planning, Da Nang has strived to become a large tourism center of coastal south central and northern sub- region of Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh.

Besides, Nha Trang city has strived to be a key tourism center of southern sub- region, including Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien said that the target of city planning aimed to exploit potentialities and advantages of each region, strengthen further maritime tourism development, and open more and more tourism urban stations, modern tourism destinations.

By 2020, tourism will strive to become a key economic sector. Additionally, the south central coastal provinces will attract around 15 million visitors, including around 4,5 million foreign tourists. Total projected turnover will reach at VND 70,000 billion.

By 2030, around 25 million travelers will choose the south central coastal region as an attractive destination. The total projected turnover will reach at VND 160, 000 billion.
