Nguyen Thu Thuy was awarded an honorable mention at the eighth annual International Design Awards held in Los Angeles.
The artist created a concrete, lotus-shaped fountain decorated with thousands of mosaic tiles at Mai Xuan Thuong Garden in Ha Noi. The work marked the 60th anniversary of the city’s Liberation Day on October 10, 2014.
The awards were announced last Friday by juries that examined 1,000 entries submitted by architects and designers of interiors, fashion, products, and graphics from 52 countries throughout the world.
Thuy received a certificate from the Guinness World Records for the Largest Ceramic Mosaic – Ha Noi’s Thang Long mural completed in 2010.
