Nguyen Hoang Thien beat Isa Mammetgulyyev 6-3, 7-6 in the first men’s singles rubber.
In the second men’s singles match, Ly Hoang Nam, who had a double win at the 25th Sarawak Chief Minister’s Cup (I) ITF Junior Tennis Championship (Grade 1) in Malaysia, easily beat Aleksandr Ernepesov 6-0, 6-1.
In the men’s doubles, Do Minh Quan and Lam Quang Tri crushed Aleksandr Ernepesov and Georgiy Pochay 6-1, 7-6.
Viet Nam’s next rivals will be Syria and Cambodia, and they need to beat one of them to reach the event’s semi-finals.
The top two countries from this round will be promoted to Group II in 2016, while bottom two will be relegated to Group 4.
