NDO – The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) was asked to positively contribute to enhancing the business environment and the national competitiveness as well as removing difficulties for enterprises.
Speaking at the 6th Congress of the VCCI in Hanoi on March 28, President Truong Tan Sang told the VCCI to put forth proposals to contribute to the economic development strategy of the nation.
Over the past five-year tenure, the VCCI accomplished tasks set out at the fifth Congress and attracted an increasing number of enterprises to join the VCCI.
The VCCI also fulfilled its responsibilities of protecting the interests of businesses, entrepreneurs, business associations and employers in Vietnam and effectively carried out trade and investment promotional activities.
In addition, the VCCI has provided consultancy to the Party and Government on issues related to economic development, enterprises, and business environment to perfect the socialist-oriented market economy mechanisms and enhance the international integration.
The President emphasised that as a national organisation representing the domestic business community, the VCCI should exert more effort to connect businesses and assist them to operate effectively, as well as strengthen relations between employers and employees and carry out their social responsibilities.
An Executive Committee for the 6th tenure of the VCCI was elected at the congress with Vu Tien Loc re-elected as the chairman and Doan Duy Khuong re-elected as the vice chairman.
