Hot temperature in southern Vietnam is forecast to last till the middle of April, with Ho Chi Minh City likely to reach 38 degrees Celsius and some southeastern provinces at 40 degrees.
According to the Southern Hydrometeorology Station, the temperature in HCMC was almost 37 degrees Celsius in the last two days.
It was nearly 38 degrees Celsius in other neighboring provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc.
This is the hottest spell in the south of Vietnam in this dry season starting from November till April.
In Mekong Delta provinces of Vietnam, the temperature was slightly lower, ranging from 33-34 degrees Celsius on average, some up to 36 degrees Celsius.
Adding to the high temperature is the low moisture in atmosphere and the long range of sunlight in a day, often from 10:00am till 5:00pm.
Some localities may have brief showers as a result of the evaporation of water due to high temperature.
