Ho Chi Minh City’s Spring Flower Festival 2015 opened at Tao Dan Park in District 1 on February 13. The annual event features over 4,000 ornamental plants, bonsai, rock gardens, dried trees, grafted stones, cacti, ornamental fish and various rare flowers.
There are sections presenting cultivation systems of medical plants, high-technology application in growing ornamental plants, production process of Ngoc Linh ginseng (Panax vietnamensis), models of family vegetable garden, and imitations of the country’s sovereignty landmark made from flowers and fossil shells collected from the archipelago.
This year’s event themed “Vietnamese characteristics and magnanimity” also includes musical performances and food fair.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice chairman of the city People’ Committee Hua Ngoc Thuan stressed that the festival aims to celebrate with the 85 th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3), the 125 th birthday anniversary of the late President Ho Chi Minh (May 19), the 70 th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), and the 40 th anniversary of southern liberation and national reunification.
Ho Chi Minh City’s Spring Flower Festival 2015 will run until February 24.
