North’s hilly resort town worth a try

VietNamNet Bridge – In the country’s southern part, Dalat is a well-known tourist destination of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong thanks to its cool weather while the north can take pride in Tam Dao, also a long-established hilly resort town in Vinh Phuc Province.

Tam Dao is around 85 kilometers from Hanoi. This is not a long distance for those tourists starting their journey from the capital and neighboring areas and what makes the trip exciting is that travelers negotiate a 20-kilometer snaking mountainside road from which soaring mountain peaks clad with green foliage can be seen.

Weather there is pleasant all year round, with temperatures averaging at 18 Celsius. Tam Dao town on the mountain range of the same name is about 900 meters above sea level, so it is real cold in winter. Places of interest in Tam Dao include Thac Bac (Bac waterfall), Xa Huong Lake and Ha Village dam.

Tam Dao is frequented by tourists from the country’s northern provinces, especially those wishing to escape noise and air pollution in Hanoi and other developing urban areas.
