Germany expects establishment of Germany-Vietnam joint chamber of commerce in 2015

NDO – Germany expects to set up a Germany-Vietnam joint chamber of commerce in 2015 to further integrate into the Vietnam’s economy and boost the bilateral economic co-operation.


The information was released by German Ambassador to Vietnam Jutta Frasch at a press conference in Hanoi on January 12 to announce activities for the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic ties.


The German Ambassador said that along with the establishment of a joint chamber of commerce, Germany wishes to see the acceleration of other joint projects including Metro line number two and the German House project in Ho Chi Minh City.


Germany also hopes to soon sign the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement which is expected to promote trade activities between Vietnam and Germany through the removal of non-tariff barriers and the opening of markets among others, the Ambassador stated.


Ambassador Jutta Frasch noted that 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic ties with a diverse range activities set to take place.


German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and President of German Parliament Norbert Lammert will visit Vietnam in March this year to foster the bilateral relations.


A special highlight of the celebratory activities will be a German Festival slated for March 28 including cultural activities, exchanges and presentations about Germany, and music and culinary performances in the presence of German Parliamentarian Norbert Lammert.


The Goethe Institute will also organise a string of cultural activities to celebrate the two countries’ 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties, including a German Film Festival in September.


The German Ambassador said that in 2015, Germany will continue to assist Vietnam in key areas of vocational training, environmental protection and green growth.


Currently, as many as 120,000 Vietnamese people are living in Germany and more than 4,600 Vietnamese students are studying in German universities.


2014 was also a fruitful year for bilateral relations between the two countries with the regular exchange of high-ranking delegations and growing economic co-operation, most notably the official visit to Germany by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in late October and the successful organisation of the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business (APK) in Ho Chi Minh City in November.
