Coach-truck collision kills 9 in central Vietnam

At least nine people died when a passenger coach collided heads on with a truck after having a flat tire in Thanh Hoa Province Saturday.

Initial police report said the southbound coach was driving fast when it tire went off, causing the vehicle to turn to the opposite direction and hit the truck in the afternoon.

Six people died on the spot, three others succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. At least four others are in critical condition.

Thanh Hoa traffic police have arrived at the site to help with rescue work and to investigate the cause of accident.
