The Northern Airport Authority announced Wednesday that they have just imposed a VND 7.5 million (US$353) fine on a female passenger who reportedly chased an airport officer around, attacking him and tearing his uniform in late September.
On September 29, Truong Thi Thien Trang, 34, was allegedly pursuing a male officer at the Hanoi’s Noi Bai airport, from the airport’s boarding gate to a security checking point, before she began beating him and tearing his shirt.
The female passenger was about to board a Vietjet Air flight from the capital to the southern city of Ho Chi Minh.
However, Trang was refused entry to the plan by the officer, since she had refused to check-in her over-sized hand-luggage.
A Vietjet Air spokesperson told news website Vnexpress that the low-cost airline refuses to accommodate those who carry over-sized hand-luggage to ensure that everyone has reasonable overhead baggage space.
